Hi, I was wondering, now that some time has passed since we unfortunately ran Bryant off, is there a possibilty of doing an ask Sideshow? I think it would be great as long as we aren't too negative.
I have a few questions. Was there a quality control issue at the factory with Willow and PG Buffy? If so, are there steps being taking to correct these? (I remember all the probs MAC had with the factory)
The second question is why so many figs this year, is their license up soon?
Third is what new and crazy ideas are down the road?
Lastly, are sales meeting expectations with all the concurrent releases.
thanks
Leigh

I think this is a good idea (not familiar with the "Bryant" issue because I was posting then).
I don't know if they'd admit anything went wrong with the Willow figure (and I think the PG Buffy face is great myself). I had an incident with a Sideshow customer service person regarding the Willow figure and she kept insisting it looked exactly like the prototype.

to be honest i think the willow figure is the same as the proto, dont forget those pics were taken by proffesionals plus it may have been edited so the pics looked better. etc. if you look closely there has either been none or very little changes to the proto figure

It doesn't even look like the same figure so if the mold is the same then they did a horrendous job with the color of the skin tone and the painting of the makeup. The figure in real time looks like one side of the face is very crooked, the mouth, eye and chin are longer on one side. If this was an issue with the prototype than they deliberately took pictures to be misleading. The other figures, imo, looked exactly like or better than the prototypes. Sometimes the paint job isn't as great as the actual prototype but it still looks enough like the figure that you can be satisfied and happy. Not the case with this figure.
The prototpe Willow looks softer and younger. Her nose is a little rounder. The nose on the actual figure is to curved and narrow. Again, maybe this is a case of the paint job but if it is, then Sideshow still sent out something that should've been fixed.
I have taken some pictures of the figure up close and compared it to the prototypes picture up close. It is close but it isn't the same. The chin area on the chin area and lower face on the protype are shorter and softer appearing. On the actual figure the chin is sharper and pointer and the face looks longer. Again, it looks like the figure when molded was pulled out of the mold when it hadn't cooled down properly. I've worked in a plastic molding factory. My husband works at one right now. If the plastic isn't cooled enough and is pulled from the mold too soon there will be stretching. This looks like the case, like the temperature was set wrong for cooling and it was removed too soon.
But, I could be wrong and you could be right that it's the same mold and nothing went wrong. If that's the case, then sideshow needs to make sure the skin tone and the paint job are done better because it made a huge difference in how this figure actually looks and many were not happy about the differences.
She has actually grown on me and I like her now but I'd like the prototype better if I could have that. I think she's cute and I think she looks like Willow, but an older Willow kind of making a crooked smile. I'll keep her and cherish her but customers have a justifiable reason why we weren't pleased.
And she is just so pale. I have all my figures posed together and Willow's face just jumps out at you because it is so much paler than everyone elses and even her own neck. If the skin tone had been darker it might have made a huge difference in her appearance. She looks so washed out!

I'm currently working on setting up an 'Ask Sideshow' deal with the company. I'll let you know what happens.

I forgot all about Bryant, I don't even remember why he left.
