Spike showed up on my doorstep last week! I've really been looking forward to this figure, as Spike has long been one of my favorite characters in the Buffyverse. The figure has his good points, not the least of which is an amazing head sculpt. The paint ops disappointed me though, and he's not the shining star I had been anticipating. You can check it out at the usual: www.mwctoys.com While you're there, don't forget about the current contest. In other sponsor news, Time and Space Toys has added a ton of new items this week, including a bunch of Buffy stuff, and Southern Island has a special offer for my readers - use the coupon MWCTOY on your order and get an additional 5% off their already low prices! Speaking of Time and Space Toys, they have a special deal on where if you spend a $100, you get a free variant Tara figure! Check out my Sponsor News page for details. Thanks for reading! Michael MWC

Thanks for posting your review.
Your photos were very informative in regards to how this figure compares with Sideshows prototype photos and info.
I have to say I'm very dissapointed at the paintwork which really lets this figure down. It looks like very shoddy job in that respect.
The facial sculpt is of course excellent, but as it was sculpted from a scan, that doesn't surprise me. Judging by your photo's the rest of the figure looks as I was expecting it.
Thanks once more for that, it's helped me a great deal.

Hmm. Comparing the photos of your Spike to mine (holding him in my hand to compare), the paint job on mine is MUCH better than the one you got. Well, there's still the funny white roots, but the hairline on mine is 98% clean and the bottom lip is perfect, not lopsided like yours. The ears are slightly darker than the rest of the face, but not nearly as noticible as the ears in those photos. Then again, my Buffy has both pink eye and wall eyes, so I guess it evens out. Luck of the draw.
If only they had made enough of these that one could easily find them in stores and compare paint jobs, rather than having to pre-order them blind and settling for whatever one you get.

Since I've gotten word from Sideshow that my replacement box is on the way, I'm going to have to open mine up! I had gotten a couple things in the mail the past few days, and since he was the latest he was going to be the last that I got to open up. If only they had made enough of these that one could easily find them in stores and compare paint jobs, rather than having to pre-order them blind and settling for whatever one you get. I'm like that too... I have to compare toys before buying them. I hate it when I end up finding only one of a certain toy I want, and it's got a horrible paint job or something. That's part of the reason I ordered multiples of the Willow figures, so I could choose the best one to keep "as is," and the others I could either customize or trade away.
