No difference with the figure.. just different Toyfare packaging! Though I think the boxed one is rarer, as far as I know.

Sometimes DST puts the same figure in both boxed and blister card packaging.
I assume that you aren't talking about the difference between the jacketed FFL Spike and the regular FFL Spike, right?

Yeah, no difference. If you open your figures there is no reason to care which one you get. If you keep them on card, you might want to be more picky...or try to get both.

Was there a difference between the carded and boxed wesleys? He's supposed to have a pink helmet,, but i can't see it in the carded version (i don't open my figures, so i don't know if it's hiding behind something else). So i'm wondering if it was only available in the boxed version??

No, the pink helmet is in both versions of Wesley. Is it located in the weapons cabinet? Thanks

Well, looking at a carded pic of Wesley online, the pink helmet isn't visible, so it must be in the cabinet. I received the carded version from DST, and got the pink helmet.

Thanks for that ham salad. I was beginning to think that it was some exclusive accessory for the boxed version.

I thought the same thing about the helmet.
I dont like when they package the same fig differently, I am a completeist and I have to get both when they do that :-(

Well, knowing that they are the exact same figure I would say it's okay to just get one and still have a complete collection. Of course it depends on how picky you are, but I don't think packaging differences make for a legitimate variant.
If anyone wonders why they box them, it's because Toyfare sells them primarily by mail-order and this makes them easy to pack. They just stick them in a plain white mailer box.
The only one that was ever different from the carded release was Slave Cordy who has no base in the boxed version.

Wow- I didnt releize that about the Slave Cordy- I was recently contemplating opening one (since I have carded & boxed versions) to put with my Pylean set up but I wasnt sure whci to open. I guess I open the blister one to use the base. Thanks.

I can't imagine trying to track down all three different header cards for Hemery High Buffy, or why you'd even card to do so. Of course, I open all my figures anyway, so the packaging is irrelevant to me.

Danman, I can see where your coming from, But remember the Short hair buffys? Boxed is WAAYY cheaper then Carded, And I had to really look to get my carded version. I will never again wait because of packageing differences. I think the carded spike is rarer then the boxed in this case.
In the Wes case, i think the Boxed is rarer.
Not sure though.

I think the carded versions of the new Toyfare figs are slightly more rare, but I'm not 100% sure on that

That was the ONLY place they made them for. As yearly membership was about $40-50, there were fairly few members and that's why the carded versions of Prophecy Buffy and Short Hair Buffy are so rare. With DST, things have been totally different. The carded versions have been readily available since a ToyFare exclusive is now shared among other partners it seems. You can get a carded Vamp Will, PG Wes, or FFL Spike direct from DST, or any number of online stores. The boxed versions of those are still only directly from Toyfare, so they might seem rarer because there is only that one place to get it.

I got the Boxed version of FFL Spike from Cinequest I think - he was only $10! So yeah, in thi scase, it seems the boxed version is more readily available (definitely cheaper!). I just got him recently *after* I got the Jacketed version (which, if anyone cares, does have some minor differences other than the Jacket - his pants are a slightly darker blue, and the details on him are a little different as well. For the Parting Gifts Wes and the pink helmut, yes, it is definitely in the Weapons Cabinet, tucked neatly in the plastic spacer that goes inside the weapons cabinet, and is pretty much invisible unless you open them. And I had always thought for some reason that the Pink Helmut was slightly smaller than the black one - but they are exactly the same! I can't believe I thought that. :-) Also, tho the packaging variations annoy some, I am for one am VERY glad that this is what they do for the most part to offer "unique" figures for ToyFare, etc. Otherwise we might get a new figure (Hemery High Buff) and/or new paint variant of an existing figure (SDCC Trans Dark Willow) for *every* trade show and those are just too hard/expensive to collect or comeby. So I'm gad they instead offer package variants instead of figure variants for some of these shows (which reminds me - is the Deluxe Faith different in any way than her normalBad Girls self (apart from the Sticker on the packging?)? It's exciting to get new figures hthidway sometimes, but always would be far too hard on the fans who want complete collections (the definition of which varies from fan to fan, but I want at least 1 f each figure and paint variant represented - Packaging doesn't matter to me so match nor do the gray "prototypes").

Bad Girls Faith is an AFX exclusive, the boxes are only done for Toyfare exclusives.
