Just a quick question on something that has got me confused. I just finished watching angel season 4 for the first time and I have a question on 'rain of fire' wesley. I think its obvious that he is based on the seventh episode when the beats first appears and they have that AMAZING fight. My dvd says the episode was called apocalypse nowish but in interviews the writers called it rain of fire and the actual wesley figure is called rain of fire. Does the uk episode have a different title to the us one for some reason? Thanks -James

I think they had to change it (in the usa) for copyright reasons.
It's called Apocalypse Nowish in Australia.

They had to change the episode name to Rain of Fire due to legal threats from Paramount studios as the name 'Apocolaypse, Nowish' was a spoof on their film 'Apocolaypse Now'.

In the USA, I remember them calling it Apocalypse Nowish, but the station that airs the episode (The WB) has nicknames for them. So Apocalypse Nowish was nicknamed "Rain of Fire." Another example would be that You're Welcome was nicknamed "Cordelia Returns," etc.

They do it a lot with charmed episodes more than they did with angel. But that is one case. I like Rain of Fire better.

Also, it was such an important episode in the season and it had such a serious fight scene and plot twist that the title 'apocalpse nowish sounds too 'charmed' and not as major as 'rain of fire' which suits the episode much more.

Another example would be the episode "Why We Fight," with the flashback of Angel and Spike in the submarine was nicknamed "1943."

I think they've done it with a couple of Buffy eps too, "Out of Mind, Out of Sight" was nicknamed "Invisible Girl", "Amends" was dubbed "A Buffy Christmas" and "Beauty and the Beasts" was called "All Men are Beasts" (probably because Disney threatened the same thing as Paramount).
Personally I prefer "Apocalypse, Nowish", it's quirky, and sort of a Cordelia-sounding phrase. Far more in keeping with the show.

You can see the subtitle names in the promos that are posted in the Episode forum. Wild at Heart was known as Stray Dog, which just makes me laugh.
