Well, thet opic says it all...I was rewatching "The Magic Bullet" and realized that was a MUCH better outfit that captured the character better than season 3 (she was episode specific, I just forget which one LOL)...I mean, did we ever see Fred in pigtails or capris again? The Fred I think of has wavy hair, glasses, pants, a cute top, and sensible shoes...not capris, a day-glo orange shirt, pigtails, and shoes that are askew to the rest of the ensemble. I know my chances of getting a "Magic Bullet" Fred, or another "sensible" Fred are slim, but I just felt this was an appropriate place to rant...does anyone else agree with me? Disagree with me? I mean, for Christ's sake, why do we need 2 Illyrias? She was in what--8 or 9 episodes, compared to Fred's 2-and-a-half seasons? I just don't get it at all...hopefully, there will be a variant of "Shells" Illyria that caters to Fred, as well. Thanks for letting me vent, RK

I agree. The Fred we get is from "The Price" which in general isn't that much of a Fred episode. I think "Shells" Illyria is a complete waste of a figure, I mean, "A Whole in the World" Fred would of been much nicer, and then they would just have to fix the face, since she wears that outfit.
General Fred should of been hair out, cute top and pants, as said above. And Illyria should of just got the one figure as normal Illyria, I mean, the character was cool, but not that cool. Fred should of had a season 3 Fred and a season 5 Fred, with lab coat and mini skirt and stuff, since Fred was much more... um used then Illyria.

I totally agree. While Fred was cute in her few "pigtail" episodes, I envision her more as a season four Fred, with her hair down, cute top and skirt or pants, kinda like in "Orpheus."

I don't like the 'shells' figure. And i have to agree that pigtails Fred is a strange choice. Why not a regular Fred? Or a "waiting in the wings Fred"?

Totally Agreed.
Price Fred is ok, but not as the only Fred. Shells Illyria total waste of a figure

I completely agree. I've seen other comments saying the same thing.
Personally, I hated Illyria. She just drones on and on and on. Ick. She's cool in a fight, but that's it.
She appeared in less than half a season, but gets too figures, while Fred, a major character, only gets one.
It's so frustrating. I'm hoping that they'll do a Wes and Fred two pack, where they put Fred in a different outfit. I mean, Tara got four figures. She wasn't even a regular who appeared in the credits (except in the episode where they killed her off). Fred was a MAJOR CHARACTER!
I think they should have done an Angel/ Lilah line, then a Fred/Harmony line. But oh well. I'm not holding my breath for Lilah.
I'm just going to glue Shells Ilyria hair to Season 3 Fred's smiley face. Then put Smiley Fred's head on the Shells body. Painting the hair brown will be easy.
For people who don't custom, it's a bummer. But this custom is a no brainer. It'll only take a bit of glue and brown paint.
Or you could put Fred's head on a S5 Willow body. That'd be cute too.

I agree with all of you. I am no good with episode names but sure as shit they could have made better choices than they have done.
They HAVE to do a "Lornette" Fred, they just HAVE to. Not that I'm throwing my toys out of the pram or anything.
;D

I wish I could custom so I could fix the Shells Fred... but I'm fine.
I just hope we get a Wesley/Fred two back with Fred in somthing cool looking.
And, Tara may of got 4 figures, but they were all just repaints of the same base. At least they put the money and time out to give Fred/Illyria 3 diffrent figures with 3 diffrent sculpts. So no dissing the Tara!

Fred got totally screwed on figures. What I'm mainly bitter about is that the announcement was made that the lineup was Angel/Fred line. I was already upset at the idea of only getting 3 Freds. Then realizing that they were going to throw in Illyria (after they said that she would be considered a different figure), I felt sad knowing I would only get 2 Freds. But then to find out that we are only getting 1? And its not even a typical Fred look? Grrrr. Why make that announcement at all. Why not just call it the Angel/Illyria line with a random Fred thrown in for the heck of it. And if it was a cool 2nd Illyria maybe I wouldn't be so upset, but shells is pretty useless. The only good I see for it is repainting it to look like a season 5 Fred. I felt sure that after making a Waiting in the Wings Wesley we would get one of Fred. Nope I thought that with the Vegas Lorne, we might get a Lornette Fred. Nope I thought for sure the regular version would be a season 4 or season 5 with labcoat. And if the regular version wasn't wearing the labcoat then at least one figure would be wearing one. Nope. I thought that if they were going to do an Illyria they would through her in a boxed set. Nope, instead I have to hope that they will come out with a box set (highly unlikely) that includes a repaint of Shell's Illyria. I do like the Fred Figure we are getting, but only as an variant going along with the figure listed above. The one we are getting would be last on my list. And to think how much I was looking forward to getting Freds. I just really wish they would stop calling this the Angel/Fred line. Because that is not what it is.

Yeah, in my lists, and converstions, I refer to the line as the Angel/Illyria/Fred line. I agree completely, odoat. I think I'll hop on over to the "ask diamond" thread now, and ask a question... RK

I call it the Angel/Illyria/Fred line as well, since calling it the Angel/Fred line dosn't seem right.
I was at the comic shop I go to and asked if they were getting the Angel/Fred line, but the guy 'currected' me and said "Do you mean, 'Angel/Illyria' line"
I was so... so... well, angry word.

LOL I don't even bother with my comic shops anymore...they're overpriced, and the BCC has much better prices...I'd be thrilled to death if I could preorder Fred, as well as Illyria. LOL RK

Guys, you're missing the point. We've been told many times (to our begrudging ) that a single wave of a character is an attempt to show all the variations of him/her. When you don't have the chance to make that many figures (and, in Fred's case, have to make a totally differenct character to boot), you tend to get the extremes. Basically, I see it as a total opposite to Illyria...the look is totally innocent and captures her early appearance. I agree that it sucks that we're basically getting one Fred figure (hopefully another or two will be shown sometime down the line), but I can understand how DST went with what they did. If they included another Fred, I would agree it should be from later seasons when she wasn't so lighthearted...but this Fred basically opposites Illyria really well. So...yeah, I guess make sense of what I said if you want. Now, hopefully they at least work on the paint app to make the one Fred we get a little more perfect...

Even though Illyria IS Fred, I still think she is a seperate figure. With that, I feel we will still get atleast 1 more new 'Fred' and possibly two. I'd love to have a Fred from the Jasmine episodes, as she looked really good, and a Season 5 fred (Lab version in a skirt). We still have plenty of time for a boxset or 2 pack...

I just feel that Illyria, or at least "Shells" Illyria should have been in a boxset, rather than getting a main release. Although "Shells" Illyria is shortpacked, and Illyria is a "Previews" Exclusive, I'd *much* rather have seen another Fred being shortpacked, instead of "Shells" Illyria--this figure just doesn't make sense to me at all. Guys, you're missing the point. We've been told many times (to our begrudging ) that a single wave of a character is an attempt to show all the variations of him/her. When you don't have the chance to make that many figures (and, in Fred's case, have to make a totally differenct character to boot), you tend to get the extremes. I could accept the fact that we might only get two freds because they had to put Illyria in there. But Shell's Illyria is pointless when trying to cover major parts of Amy Acker's characters on Angel. When thinking of Illyria I think of her in the suit thing, not her brief time in regular clothes. If they really wanted to cover extremes for Amy Acker (not Fred) they should have done Early Season 3 Fred, Labcoat Season 5 Fred, and Illyria. I believe the entire reason behind Shell's Illyria is that they thought that a deamony looking girl would sale better then a regular looking girl to the masses. If I hadn't had my hopes up I probably wouldn't be so upset about this. But they said before that Fred and Illyria would NOT be considered the same character if a figure was made of one of them. Then they anounced a Angel/"FRED" line. Then they put in not one but TWO Illyrias in the FRED line. There are more Illyria's then Freds in the Fred line! What if they had done that with the Buffy line. Hey the next line is Buffy, but guess what, 4 of the 5 Buffys are going to be Buffybot. And the other Buffy is going to be cheerleader Buffy. What you wanted a more modern iconic view of Buffy? Something like Chosen? Nah we decided to do a bunch of the Robots instead. Now I understand that Buffybot and Illyria are not the same. But do you understand where I am coming from here. What we are given does not cover the major parts of Freds life. It covers one random early part of Freds life and two parts of Illyrias life. And Illyria is not Fred, she is in Fred's Corpse. So really lets just call it the Angel/Amy Acker line. And I don't think that the odds of us getting another Fred are that great, especially with them anouncing that the next Boxset and 2pack would be Buffy themed. Maybe some kind of convention exclusive, but who wants to go through all that headache to get a figure that should have been standard in the first place. I really do think that at some point we will probably get a repaint of Shell's Illyria as Fred because it would be so easy. But I went from thinking of 5 different Freds we needed to hoping that we'll get more then one. I don't know, I just don't understand this. They have done such a wonderful job with providing variety with all the other figures. All the different Anyas, Willows, Spikes, Darlas, Wesleys, Lornes, Buffys, Angels, and Dawns. Even Tara, maybe they were just repaints, but at least she got 4 of them. Sorry for the super long post. This is something that has been bugging me for a long time. And I also tend to get quite rambly at 2am.

Pretty much agree with everyone else's comments.
BUT, I know I would have been bitterly dissapointed had Illyria not been a part of the line.
Basically, my "ideal" three variants of Amy Acker would have been:
- "Regular" Fred (possibly from an episode like "Lullaby" (?), but basically - hair out and a little curly, full length jeans, sensible shoes, shirt and a jacket of some description. I think the long pants and long armed shirt or jacket are essential because Amy Acker is so thin that trying to capture her bare arms or legs on a figure just end up making the figure look like it is too "beefy"). - A Fred variant - personally would prefer Lornette Fred (its episode specific, fun, different and just cool) or a season 5 "Scientist" Fred with short skirt (if they could get the legs thin enough), heels and a lab coat over the top with her hair pulled back). - Illyria (full suit).
The regular "The Price" Fred just doesn't capture the character for me. Granted, the paint application on the facial features isn't helping matters with the squinty eyes which are so unlike Amy Acker and while the smile is cute, its not like Fred went around perpetually smiling, she was a pretty serious and in her own way kick azz character.
As for Shells Illyria. Well, I have no intention of buying it. It means nothing to me. Its not Fred and its not Illyria. Then again, DST seem to realise this because they've made it a chase. Though it seems a waste of some minor-resculpting which could have gone into making a season 5 Fred or some other variant.
Cheers, Haeph.

A Lornette Fred would've kicked arse!!
I would have liked to have seen:
-a regular Fred (maybe "The Magic Bullet" outfit) -Fred with a labcoat -"waiting in the wings" Fred -illyria -a lornette Fred
She definitely could have anchored a line.
