What is up with the Shells Illyria base?

i think its suppposed the be the lab but im not sure. hopefully its just a prototype and theyll actually make it sweet. which also make me think that theyll make a labcoat fred to go with that lab base! probably a convention exclusive

I dont wanna sound like a big moaner but I really dislike Shells Illyria.

Its ugly, pointless, a waste of what could have been a good Fred variant and the base sucks.

I know its just a prototype and I have waited to see if it grows on me like the Fred and angel main figures but it hasnt.
I just hate it.

One plus from it tho is that it could be good for customising, the skirt, plain t shirt and some one could make another and better Illyria custom using the head, for example, when she wears that white dress.
( I dont watch Angel but have seen sashas custom of an Illyria in the white dress.)

I know every1 will hate me for saying this but im not a fan of the show angle, so i dont want any of these figures but i do want the weapons and a regular angle to go w/ my buffy figures b/c i dont like how the MAC buffy angle could not really move in his non removable coat.

I think I've figured out what it is about the Angels that I don't like. It looks like the faces were placed on the heads and they don't line up. The faces look like they need moved up a little and over a little so that they line up correctly with his forehead and ears.

I am not loving vamp Angel-but I think it may be the angle of the photo his face looks..well wrong. But it could be the photo.

I see what you mean Becky-but (again) I think it is the way the had the photo's done (or he just need a bit of tweaking)

Those figures are awsome I'm totally in love with Shells Illyria. But The skirt Illyria's base totally sucks. Those figures are something I'm really looking foward to.......when do they some out??

Look how detailed all of the other bases are compared to Shells Illyria.

That leads me to believe that that base obviously isn't going to be the final one. Does anyone really think DST would consider that up to par with all of the other bases?

What we see now is probably just done to give us a rough idea of what the final one will look like.

Release date is October. A little later than it should be as they should be a Buffy wave released afterwards this year....

Also, FYI guys. According to TST Illyria comes with AN axe, and A sword, not two of each. Guess the duplicates are just there to show off the wall hangings.

I love Fred's accessories and I'm still in total awe of Illyria, but I'm not too thrilled about the others.

I so can't wait for these figures now, Illyria and Fred are the one's I want most and Demon Angel is fast becoming my favourite out of them all, and Baby Connor, that made me speechless with happiness. I'm so glad I preordered all of these!

hehe. I love that S.3 Fred has a book called "Portals". I have to say, too, that I really love what they've done with the "plain" bases. Far more useful and attractive than what I've seen before. Almost makes me want to buy into the line, but I like my figures with more articulation. Seriously, I don't get why they don't even just add ball-jointed shoulders. All the shoulders look wonky anyway, so I don't get how that's a big trade-off. Anyway...

Wondering the same thing here. It would make them that much more a step above MAC. Although DST said they don't want to venture too far from what MAC had established, there are plenty of modern toy-making "tricks" to hide articulation. Look at the last releases for the Valor vs. Venom GI Joe toy line... they had figures with bare arms (well, with sleeves too) that don't look like mannequins. (Bombstrike and Croc Master for example -- granted the backs of their elbows are ugly.) Which is what "Shells" Illyria looks like from the waist down, and is the only thing that "kills" the figure for me. Well, she also suffers from a manly stance... just look at how her legs go straight down from that skirt, they don't line up with her waist. Her legs ought to be angled like an A, or put closer together. I'm tempted to get a "Shells" Illyria for cheap, glue the leg joints where I want them, and fill in the leg articulation with putty. From the waist up she's really great... it's those damn legs...

Anyways just a minor rant about that figure. I'm sure I'll love it once I "correct" it

goddam, just look at that suit on illyria, it actually looks like leather, look at the quality of it, this has got to be the best figure i have ever seen in terns of likeness of the face and outfit
