I was just wondering if you had been the one to choose varients which ones would have you chosen for Anya and Tara? I personally want a OMWF Tara and Anyanka in demon form but street clothes.

I would have wanted- Tara- OMWF, Family, and Barganing. Anya-Aud, Anyanka in Selfless, Anya from the gift (Good Luck to Willow scene) But for Anya DST made very good choices IMO and I was and still am pleased. as for Tara I would have liked to see a different sculpt, instead of just repaints. But I guess I understand why they didnt.

I would have made: Scrap the MAC Sculpt Tara and Give Her More Articulation Anya Seriously, so far the only MAC sculpts that DST did well with were the Willows. But those were mostly done by MAC anyways, except DST didn't see it fit to give Willow the four points of articulation that previous MAC figures had (thighs and biceps)...

I think they did a pretty good job... especially with what they had to work with.
If I were in charge though it'd be like this:
Tara: "Family" Tara (regular) OMWF Tara (variant) Hush and New Moon Rising were good choices too, and if they could have re-used parts to make them, they would be good variants too.
Anya: probably "Selfless" as the basic "Selfless" Anyanka as the short-pack All the rest that DST did, except make Bunny Anya a bit more episode accurate (different hair/outfit) Aud would have been nice, but a bit of a stretch to produce as she was seen so briefly like that. I'm thankful enough we got a Wedding Anya.

Spike, step off the DST-bashing. True, there was room for improvement on the Willow, Anya, and Tara figures... but at least we GOT them. If we had done things MAC's way the whole line would have gone under and we'd have nothing. Maybe if he hadn't over-articulated the figures and taken a page from DST's ability to reuse parts he'd still be in business.
I'm not saying I'm in love with four repainted Tara figures, but at least we have the option to get them.
Tara Drop New Moon Rising Tara and make Hush Tara the core figure. Add a OMWF Tara exclusive Make Family Tara a chase
Anya Drop Season 5 Anya and make Family Anya the core figure. Drop Anyanka and only have her in the box set w/ D'Hoffryn and a repainted Family Anya. Add an Aud exclusive

Maybe if he hadn't over-articulated the figures and taken a page from DST's ability to reuse parts he'd still be in business. I'm not bashing DST, if anything I'm bashing MAC. It was just sarcasm, hence the After seeing what DST can do (Spikes and Lorne), I'm expecting a lot from this company. With a few exceptions which I think are somewhat out of their control (like using another company's sculpt), I think they're doing great But I will say this: considering that MAC had been giving their figures bicep and thigh articulation (even Dru had bicep art.), I don't see how Willow could not have been given such articulation. Of course in the previous "Ask Diamond" topics we've learned that it was their decision to leave out this articulation because they didn't think it was necessary. I'm not the only one disappointed with that reasoning. I can understand not wanting to "ruin" the sculpt with a mannequin-like appearance by giving a bare-armed or bare-legged figure articulation. But Willow and Tara (even Anya to a degree) have sleeves that can "hide" the swivels and pins. Oh well... As for reusing parts, MAC's variants usually amounted to a new color scheme and a new head sculpt. DST takes it much further by sculpting new torsos, legs, etc. I just hope it's not a trade-off, more sculpting and less articualtion. The figures are selling so well...

Xanderphile, Although I don't agree that Spike was DST-bashing, I want to know why you think you can censor his opinion just because it doesn't worship the ground DST walks on. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy DST revived the license, but them doing so doesn't mean that every decision they make has to be agreed with. If Spike is a bit dissapointed with the articulation situation, he has the freedom to say so, same as everyone else.

Moe, mind your own damn business There's no need for you to be an ass. Spike posted his response quite well, and I thank him for it. After reading your response, Spike, I apologize for the tone of my first post. I misread your intentions. I just don't like it when people focus on negatives like a missing bicep joint all the time without mentioning things like the Spike, Lorne, etc articulation being so much better.

Hey, it's cool, I meant no offense. I was just sticking up for freedom of speech. Like your freedom to tell me to get off your ass, and my freedom to jump back on it again if you ever disregard anyone elses opinion just because it conflicts with your own; for example. As for figures I wanted. Hmm, I was pretty happy with the ones we got. Although an Aud and Crazy PJ Tara wouldn't of sucked. It would've cleared the path for a Sushi PJ Buffy in future.
