I think the price is too low. It should have been 150 bucks.

I think the price is too low. It should have been 150 bucks. if you're trying to say that you're rich and can afford to buy whatever you want, that's ridiculous. can a lot of us afford it? yes. are a lot of us more conscious of what we buy? definately.

OK I have mixed views on this ......
IN AMBERS DEFENCE
1 - We are not obligated to buy this figure, so if you dont like it, don't buy it
2 - Amber will have to pay all the production costs and stuff for the figures so its not $125 profit
3 - It's business really at the end of the day
4 - She is trying to raise money and this is a bit cooler than just askinf for money or sending out regular autographs
HOWEVER
1 - $125 is quite steep
2 - Im kinda upset there's no international seller. What I mean is that if UK people wanna buy one from US they also have huge postal charges. It'd be cooler if she sold say 500 or whatever in one big bulk to Forbidden Planet, helping us reduce our postage fees
3 - It is a new paintjob at the end of the day. Which wouldnt be so bad on an Anya as the 5 are all so different, but the other 3 original Taras are also all paint jobs
4 - Amber is an actress and was a main character on BtVS for 2 years, as well as guest starring for one year. From that alone she musta made lots of money. Not to mention the work she's done with BBC, convention appearances, magazine interviews, TV guest spots, and her other film roles. There's no way Amber would be short of cash.

Do you think that this Tara will have a sticker on the package saying it's an Amber Benson exclusive like the other figures say Cinequest.com, Tower.com etc.?

I think the price is too low. It should have been 150 bucks. I just posted that to see what kind of reactions I'd get. I was obviously joking. I like to spice up the board whenever I can... keep you guys on your toes... unless you are all shrimp, then keep you on your... well... whatever shrimp have instead of toes.

I was waiting for someone to bring that up. It's not like we're paying $100 extra for a charity, it's going in to Ambers pocket. She should fund the film herself. Or do it like every other moivie maker instead of ripping off fans of a show she appeared on. I'd pay that amount if it was going to to cancer research or something; but to fund someone else's film just doesn't seem to be a good enough cause.

Not to mention the fact that the film will probably not be mainstream so only a few hundred people are so will see it.

I Agree with Moe! ITs all going into Ambers pocket! then she will spend it on her movie! (which probally aint gonna be a Big Blockbuster film!) I can see It now Heres the story: She plays a ordenary girl who goes to college, Sleeps, Eats and falls in love and roll about on the floor!

I think the figure is great. I think the price is good. I think Amber is awesome. If she wants the money to fund her movie... then who are we to agrue about that? If you dont want to... then dont buy it. Get over the fact that you wont have this figure. Dont buy Ambers movie when it comes out if you dont want to. You are not forced to do anything. I will, however, will probably purchase this figure, give my money to Amber... buy her movie when its done, and feel good about myself because I wanted to do all of those things.
Those were my two and a half cents.

There's a lot of misconceptions here. From the idea that because she was a peripheral character on Buffy that she must be wealthy (never mind that actors alternate between years of no income and some seasons of steady income), to the idea that if she has money that she should fund her filmmaking herself (no accountant in the world would advise that, and if you look around at various film sites you'll see every single filmmaker is looking for donations to help fund their work). Misconception about the idea that actors are paid to be interviewed by magazines -- not so.
I realize a lot of people here are not yet in the workforce, but just take it on faith that the real world is more complex that you'd imagine, and a lot more expensive.
If you view her action figure as simply an item for sale, rather than as something which is being offered as an incentive to fund the film, yeah, it is not a good price.
But considering that most filmmakers offer absolutely nothing (or maybe only offer one's name at the end of the credits), it's kind of a nice idea really for her to recognize that there might be a couple thousand people who would pay that much for a figure.
This reminds me of the Playmates Toys Star Trek situation, where they released 1,701 Exclusive Picard figures. Each figure was being scalped for more than a hundred bucks a pop. Clearly the market does support that kind of prices. Heck just look at Time & Space Toys to see what they're charging for what were originally ten-buck Buffy figures. Rarity justifies the price.
Assume some regular folk will buy it, and then figure a few hundred comic shops may buy one or two with the intent to scalp er sell it later on, and you can see where she probably will sell a good portion of the figures.
2000 might be pushing it, but she can always save 1000 for after the film is done, and offer a DVD+Figure deal to help pay off whatever debt the film goes into. So I would NOT expect any of the figures to be released on the cheap. I think she'd be wise to keep them as a collectable.
And come on, they're ONLY A REPAINT. It's not like it a figure that isn't available otherwise.
