Well, DSt kind of "unofficially" has a standard of doing 5 figures of one character, and 3 of another. For instance:
5 Anyas (Regular, Demon, OMWF, Wedding, Bunny) 3 Taras (Reguar, Hush, Triangle)
5 Spikes (Regular, Vamp, FFL, BY, Grave) 3 Darlas (Regular, Vamp, WTTH)
5 Angels (Regular, Ring, Vamp, Demon, Grad Day) 3 Freds (Regular, Shells, Illyria)
However, there are also side varients that are released like Chosen Spike, World Tour Willow, and others. Some are released in Two-Packs or Box Sets.
So there is a possibility for more Freds to be released, such as Comic Con Exclusives, Two packs, or Box Sets (lets hope so!)

5 Wesleys, 3 Lornes
I still hope for at least one more Fred-Fred. I would think a "Shells" Fred would be a good Con Exclusive, like the "Villains" Dark Willow, just a minor repaint in a simple lil baggie! A different season 5 Fred would be great too, with a lab coat and base!
And Afer...please...it's 2 more letters, just type come. Some "net-lingo abbreviations" are ok(like that!) but not when they become a completely different word.

Turns out he was just saying something -completely- different altogether. He should know not to say that word and 'Angel' in the same conversation around me. God.

As for the lack of Fred variants, I'm wondering if it was a choice of the exclusive holders. I mean, for all we know DST designed half a dozen Freds, but all the potential sponsors, like Action Figure Express, TST, etc, didn't feel confident enough in their sales to pay for a Fred, or preferred the title character as their exclusive. I dunno, just morning musings

Personaly I think one version of Fred figure is enough, it is better than nothing. I think DST spoiled us a bit with the number of varients for Willow, Anya etc so now poeple are expecting so many varients for each character. Remember MAC only gave us one or two figures of each character? I do admit instead of Shells Illyria we should have got something like S5 Fred using the same parts but i think one Fred is more than great, think about it we could be getting none. So lets stop dissing DST and be thankful for what we are getting.

I would be ok with one fred if the outfit was a little better. I hate the outfit she's wearing....and the pigtails....yuck.

I like the Fred figure and the pigtails are great. I am glad they didnt just do Fred with her hair down. Fred always had different hair styles so I am glad they went with something different. I still think we are going to get a boxset with Fred (s) My only wish for DST is give us back the thigh articulation. that and to make every figure from the shows of course

I think a better questions is why are they more Illyrias than Freds?

I think a better questions is why are they more Illyrias than Freds? To cash in on the people who only watched Angel Season 5 and none of the other seasons Grrr to them lol

Plus, remember that 'shells' Illyria is only a chase figure. I think it is really crummy that we only get one fred. They have the head sculpt. I get that it all comes down to the money game, but did we really need 'shells' illyria? One more Fred would have been much better. I like the Fred, but I don't really think it captures her overall character. 'the magic bullet' Fred would have been a much better choice.

I haven't been in this section for a while and I noticed this.
I think Angel outways Fred becuase they think he would be a better business item. The star of the show compared to someone who has been on 3 seasons. I know its a character we've all to come to know and love but they want to make money and they see Angel as a better business oppurtunity.

Yeah, the author of the thread kind of answered his own question. The problem isn't the number of Angel figures. DST simply made a mistake by making two Illyria figures. They should have made two Fred figures instead.
