*Light bulb popping over head*
I think I just got this figured out. I had no idea that the other stores were going to be taking preorders this week. Do you think DST made a deal with the online stores that they could get a 2-week jump on preorders? That would sort of level the playing field for them this time. Wouldn't change things later, but could have been a way for DST to settle some of the uproar over their new store.
Still, I think they should have shipped the preorders long ago. I don't have a dog in this fight (I ordered from time&space), but taking care of loyal, longstanding fans is always in a company's best interest.

The one thing I'm worried about (lightbulb over head, too) is that different retailers might be less likely to pay the production costs for an exclusive figure if that figure is also going to be sold by Diamond. Unless there's some deal worked out between DST and each exclusive holder (some sort of pay-off per figure sold?) then there will be tension. I think part of the reason behind the Willow "lag" is to give the exclusive holders (CineQuest and ToyFare) time to sell their figures before DST shows up and starts directly competing with them through their store.

If the online store ends up hurting the future of exclusives, I say good riddance. I love variants as much as the next guy, maybe even more, but the higher price and limited availability of an exclusive just sucks. I don't think this will affect things much though, as DST's store is simply filling the void from MAC's club, not really changing the playing field. Also, I don't think they would lie about technical difficulties, creating an online store doesn't seem like something you can easily do in a week or two.

In response to an email I sent, I rec'd an email from DST today stating that Willow preorders will ship in a couple weeks.

Don't panic. I don't know how accurate the "couple of weeks" is. I've heard sooner rather than later.

Well, that's what they are telling people who ask them. Hopefully it will be sooner, but since it's now almost 3 weeks since they started appearing in U.S. stores, I feel more conservative than optimistic.

I'm telling you... optimism is more realistic in this case. Hopefully we'll hear something more official from DST soon.

Is the new DST store going to be through the DST site or the Moore site?
Today both Moore sites are back up; but, you cannot access the member's only portion. However, when you access the ordering section now you are asked to download a file: file name: merchant.mvc/from: medusa.netsecure.net (No computer whiz here so I wasn't going to try and download the file as it seems strange that a store would ask you to do that) That would suppose that they are fiddling with their store once again? But it makes me wonder then on which site the actual store is going to be? Any inside information?

Don't read too much into it. It just means that the webserver is misconfigured. There are a lot of old, broken links so the store link is just one more.

Whenever they open it and offer White Witch and Vampire Willow, I'll be happy. I'm pretty sure Toyfare lost my order or something (or are just incredibly slow) so I don't want to get hosed on that one.
