Also, to bring up another issue. Members. We haven't had anyone new for over a month now. The last one was Halfrekfan who joine on November 26. There must be another problem with members joining again. With a forum that has 613 guests in 1 day, how can we not have anyone else join in 1 month? By neglecting emails from people who want to join just kills the forum even more.
I forgot to mention that before.

Well, that is the awful truth. Before we use to have new post like every minute. It was so much fun, everybody talking actively, things were going smoothly... But now, it's like we only get like 10 posts max a day. I mean, look at the customs thread, it used to be the best one, with lots of replies, and all, now, only like 4,5 replies, tops. I personally don't know CMK, when I became a member of this forum he was already "away", but I believe that he should pass the ball to someone more active here. I mean, I think we all understand that he doesn't have the time, and all, but I don't thinks it's fair to let an amazing forum like this die because of one person that is too busy.

Maybe CMK is working in tandem with DST to kill off Buffy for good and stop all the negative press they are getting from us all.

Perhaps someone should make their own board? i'm no good at forums..... maybe someone else with some experience But then that kills the point of trying to save this forum. I know im hardly the right person to speak on this matter because of the huge gap i took in posting here, but after watching this forum thrive for years it would be really saddening to see it crumble now, especially when ive started creeping back into here and feel like posting again. because of the time off i took im not quite sure about it so could someone explain to me how the member requests work now?

The member requests were sent to an email address, I believe, and then approved by whoever was checking that email account. Members also have to be older than 13, or is it 16? I remember some chaos that resulted from there being no screening of new members, and we had some immature kids trying to cause trouble. I agree with the sentiments that I don't want to see this forum roll over and die. Granted it's become less active lately. Maybe partly due to the figure lines being killed off by DST, which was the driving force behind this forum in the first place. (Sure, DST is supposedly going to keep making figures, but we've heard little about that and certainly not directly to us at this forum.) I've also noticed CMK's name popping up on the "members logged in during the last 24 hours" thing at the bottom of the forum. If he's not trying to help with fixing this place, he needs to pass on the Adminship to someone else. Wkdwillow, there is another forum that "spun off" from this one, SlayAlive The link is in the upper left corner of this forum's main page.

I REALLY don't think we should let this forum die AT ALL! C'mon guys, this is like THE Buffy Figure board/site. Letting this go might have serious consequences, we cannot give up on here a create another one that, let's face it, won't be this successful, or at least it will take a really long time to do so. What we need is CMK to be more active, or a new administrator, and we also really need the admin. to make this thing lively again. It looks like a graveyard of old threads! We need new stuff, new competitons/games...

Well I guess we could do that, but it's not like it's already doomed. All we need is that someone can talk to CMK and sort this out.

In regards to new members, I had already volunteered myself to create new accounts! We haven't RECEIVED another email for new account(s) in over a month. I do not neglect that email, as it is the slayaliveforum@gmail...I check it daily as it pretains to my forum as well.
I'm going to be frank about this, but if -you- were not a member and were browsing as a guest would you want to even bother with an account here?
There may not be figures for a while, and this forum is all about the figures. I suggested a long time ago that we change focus and make it more "overall" Buffy-centric. When that was rejected I just gave up and started my own forum. Which in turn has found success.
Basically this place needs leadership and direction. I agree with the sentiments of Tim and Chad when they would say the members contribute the bulk of the forum activity, but I know that you also need to lead. My forum would suck if I wasn't online and posting everyday.
I'll share something, in my experience with forum leadership...I like to provide my members with a community and a few things they WILL NOT find on any other Buffy forum. I look at many other Buffy boards and adjust mine to be better. I know that sounds shady...but it works. In less than a year we have over 500 members, and have already made a name for ourselves.
This place needs that, or it is dead in the water with only the customs board keeping it afloat. It doesn't matter what the layout looks like, or if it has nifty buttons. It's all about the content, the follow through. There are a few things that were started that have yet to be finished (the games/forum activities). When things like that happen it sours people to even come back here.
I know for me, I log in less and less.
I'm helping Chad with a layout/template for a new forum for his fraternity. Maybe he'll be inspired to be here more once that gets going.

I just never understood why Chad has never handed over leadership to someone else completely. I know he's given Cowboyguy basically all control, but as the incident with the forum loosing those few sections, there are still things only the official admin can do - and I really think not having those sections easily accessible from the main page is going to kill this forum even more. Yes the customs section is one of our most active topics, but all the other toy threads were even more so.
It seems every other admin who has not been able to do continue to do so has stepped down and passed the raines over to someone else - why isn't chad? It's really a slap in the face to all the active members to hold on to something he obviously has little interest in and let it suffer anymore then it naturally is going to due to thing likes the age of the show, no more new figures (yet), etc.

Well one of the main reasons I keep coming back here is to see new customs, since that is basically the only thing going on here and the other figures section. I love seeing MsBigs customs on here and maybe we can get her to come to Slayalive so members there can enjoy her work.
So this is an invite to you Sasha, Please join SlayAlive and show the members there your talent! I know CowboyGuy would love that too.

I know previusely when the topic of leadership, and creating a new forum (I think it was before Slayalive was actually created) she mentioned something to the effect of not wanting to leave the forum and/or not having the time to activly participate on multiple forums of basically the same topic. I don't know if this still holds now, just remembering something she said before. I can kinda she where she would be coming from. I am a member of Slayalive and visit it everyday, but I normally post stuff here first only because it's sorta my 'home' and it would feel redundant to post the same thing on both forums. Also I usually only post in the figures customs, magic box, and other toys section - which ironically enough seem like they are more active here then on Slayalive, except most of those are hidden now. I know sasha posts her work here, but also on her website and fwoosh i believe, possibly other places

I know this has been previously asked, but someone that has the power can they PLEASE add the missing sections links to The Sunnydale Press box on the main page so they are easily accessible. I know we still have access to update that without Chad.

Cowboyguy, if you are in contact with Chad, as you appear to be, could you please give him a kick up the arse if its not too much trouble and remind him that he has responsibilities to his old board before he starts faffing around with his new one? cheers Paul

In answer to the discussion about me above...
Thank you! I really enjoy the company of this forum's members in the Customs section as well.
Fwooshnet
I currently post on only 2 forums, here and at Fwooshnet. I see Fwooshnet as a separate entity from BtVSFigs, because they are mostly concerned with Marvel, etc. I find some inspiration from seeing a different style and content.
SlayAlive
I don't have the energy to devote myself to two similar forums, BtVSFigs and SlayAlive. I like to give something my full attention and not be half-hearted about it.
CowboyGuy did invite me to join SlayAlive. I might have considered moving away from BtVSFigs to join SlayAlive instead, but it already had all the Admins and Moderators in place.
I've got used to being a Moderator and I don't think I could go back. Anyone who has been in the work environment will know that it is very difficult to take a junior position after holding a senior one.
If BtVSFigs Forum folds, I'm not sure what action I would take. I hope it doesn't. I'm still giving it my full commitment.
If it does, maybe I will find some place where I can host a small Custom discussion forum. Then those of you that want to continue enjoying Customs with me can do so.
