The point has been brought up a few times that with the number of companies doing Buffy merchandise getting smaller and DST especially loosing interest in the line, in order for the forum to not die completely we need to revamp a little.
Personally I love action figures and collectibles, and think this place is an excellent resource for all things Buffy/Angel collectibles. We have A LOT of members that are very aware of whats going on in the industry outside of the Buffyverse and that always gives us insight into Buffy/Angel topics. Even if there isn't a lot of action in that area going on now I still think we can keep this place alive and active, even without the waves of figures being released.
So I think it would be good idea for the members to talk about ways we can keep the forum current, things we would like to see, and still keep it about Buffy/Angel collectibles. CowBoyGuy has done an amazing job over at SlayAlive in terms of keeping it current and active with regards to the comic, and he's helping out a lot here to get us back up and active. So maybe if we actually talk about things we can do here, he can use the admin powers he has to help out.
I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT TAKING OVER THE FORUM, OR TAKING IT AWAY FROM CHAD.
But lets face it, he hasn't been able to do a lot of admin stuff here lately, and he's even said before members make a forum. So lets do that, especially since we have new member joining more now that they are able to, etc.

I think the customizing section is something we have here that is really strong!
We have some of the best, if not the best Jossverse customizers showing their work here. Since we have recently started showcasing the monthly winning custom on the customizing main page properly, I think we should extend this to the main page of the forum - maybe even the main banner could change slightly every month with the winning custom shown.
I know not everyone is into customs, but the idea is that the winning custom is the best that month, and I think people who don't check the custom section might not even know its there and would like to see it. If we aren't getting new figures or new merchandise to showcase regularly, why not showcase some amazing Buffy customs for more people to see.

I agree with that idea, of having a rotating, randomized, main banner showing off the custom of the month. Pretty much the same reasons... even with not very much stuff other than the comics coming out, custom figures will always continue. Maybe that should become a primary focus here, with discussion about the MAC & DST figure lines as a sort of secondary focus? Or vice versa.

I like the idea behind this thread. Change is a good thing.
Anyway I have the ability to do everything, except modify groups (names like: Champion, Powers That Be, Victim, etc.)
And I cannot access the Ad-Free section. Which I hate. I love making the board ad-free. It looks way better without the annoying clutter.

That's a pretty good price, it seems. Well... if we never hear from Chad again, just put a note at the top of the forum saying to use an ad blocking program if one does not like the ads  I was thinking about the color scheme here, and the problems some of us have with seeing the text since it's blue against a blue background. What about making the bars with a slightly violet shade int hem? The blue might stand out against that. I do like the colors as they are now, though. Or is it possible to have themes to choose from in the profile options? So people can use whichever theme they like the most? |

I'm mostly hoping someone would take over the Survivor game. We've been invested in this for well over a year now. It would suck to have wasted all that time and energy for nothing...especially considering all the fights and nastiness that went on.

I'm here everyday and I am wanting to do the rest of the Survivor game. But, like I've said many times, I can't finish it without hearing from Chad. He has a certain way that he wants the game to finish and I don't know what that is. As soon as I hear from Chad, I will let you know and we will continue the game.

That's awesome. Personally I don't mind the colours, but a chance is always nice.
I'm not in the Survivor game, but I know a lot of people are and would like to see it done. Whoever it was in charge of it... Becky I think? I'd say if you have a way you want to finish it off, go for it. I know you said you were waiting to hear how Chad wanted to finish the game, but really ... if he wanted to finish it his way, he would have by now.
I still really think bringing some of the custom recognition to the main page would be good ... showcase the achievements of our members who are customizers and maybe hook new people to one of the more active sections.
Also, I think I'm going to start an Official Inkworks discussion section in the Other Media page .... I know a lot of people collect the cards and are just getting into it, or trying to complete their collections - so I think a general thread to talk in would be good. Maybe someone could sticky it?

I think we should put up new banners so that when we go into different sections we can see a new banner, but keep the main logo banner on the main page. I think it would be cool to bring back some of the old figure banners that we had and also make some new ones for the figures that have released since then like the new Faith, Giles, Xander, Cordelia, and all the new deluxe ones.

Great ideas. I have a code that generates banners at random that I use @ SlayAlive. Would that work?? It's pretty easy to implement. Also, while I would LOVE to be the one making all the banners (yeah I'm greedy like that!) I do not have the time anymore. I need a good graphic artist to make banners featuring the figuresBanner dimensions: 400 x 160 with a background color to be determined later. I'm gonna make the background a darker gray. I don't wanna change it up too much cause it seems like everyone favors this color scheme. An Inkworks section sounds bomb. I think we need a new board specifically for it, since it does seem to get many threads and stuff. I'll see about adding it to the top category. |
