That is a brilliant idea! ;D I think it would be so much fun. I would love if it happened. I'd be willing to organize this if Chad wants to give me the go ahead. If Dawn would assist, that would be wonderful. Yeah 'course. I can do whatever needs doing ;D

I think there should be a thread for new members to introduce themselves. Like ''The offical Thread for new members'' kind of thing.

People don't seem to be paying attention to that thread though recently, which is somewhat annoying. It feels like they don't want to use the thread so that they can get more attention for their "grand entrance".

Oh Sorry! I think that *may* have been aimed at me and like I said, I've been visiting here since Champion Of Hotness days and I never knew about that! Maybe it should be pointed out in the account activation email new members recieve so they know - I honestly didn't. Sorry

Eternal Flame, I did the same thing, I've been looking at this forum for 2 years, and I had no idea whatsoever that there was a thread to introduce yourself. I agree that maybe there should be a spot for this in the activation email. -John

Yeah, it would help. I mean if you don't know then you can't do it. Simple as that. Don't mean to sound bitchy but its the truth.

That thread is very old and I agree that it seems to be ignored by new members. Maybe a revamped edition and new version of the thread should be made? It's not 100% necessary but the old one seems to have just faded into the background.
Then again, maybe you guys are right? Just a nod to it on the activation email could work wonders.

I was just worried people might be doing it to get a load of attention, cuz I didn't want the lounge to suddenly fill up with "Hi!" posts, y'know? No offence intended.

I don't believe we have any control over what's in the activation e-mail, so that idea doesn't work.

Hmmm.... Maybe you could add it to the thread explaining what new members need to do to sign up! You know, after explaining about emailing and passwords etc say click here (give link) to introduce yourself!

I've started a thread for new challenges for the fanfiction section. So far, no one has signed up. I hope we don't get more complaints about the section not having anything going on, or contests, etc.... when no one signs up.

Recently we've had several new members post in older topics, only to be scolded for bringing back old stuff. I think we should post an official policy on this so new members (and old ones too) know how new a topic must be to post in. If we really want to prevent this from happening, older posts should be moved to a no-reply (locked) Archive section.

If we really want to prevent this from happening, older posts should be moved to a no-reply (locked) Archive section. I disagree. I think if all members are just reminded of this (more to the new members) rule, then there won't be a problem. I don't think we need to go to extremes and time in sorting through every thread in the entire forum, just to stop a simple annoyance like bumping old threads. Members should know when and if a thread has went over its post-by date. Maybe instead of just simply posting with a pointless reply, actually read through the thread to see that it has already had it's time. Just my opinion though. I don't feel that strongly about it. I feel it is an issue that can be solved quite quickly and easy But that may be easier said, than done

Ah I just see that this has been discussed in another thread in this section.
My suggestion for an archive thread is based on the fact that I've seen this on many other forums. I assumed that there is some way to create a no-reply section and move topics of a certain age there automatically. If it would have to be done one at a time manually, then it makes sense to avoid it.
