Artistically I think it is pretty damn good...there may be a few likness issues; but for me this is the best likeness of Faith we have gotten so far...another thing you have to consider is that this is not based on a photo of Eliza but on the Art of Jo Chen (as seen on the Faith cover of the season eight garphic novel series) if I could afford it I would definately consider adding it to my collection ;D

I agree with you Scott, I also think that it is pretty good. It's not exact but very close. I can't wait to see the final product as the likeness might be better especially with them not showing it at the con, so they might have to tweek the facial sculpt a bit before it is released.

Even tough the pose is "borrowed" from that season 8 cover (I hope they asked for persmission to use it) I doubt the likness is based of it. They didn't mention that the line would be based off comics it in the video way back then, so i'm guessing they're aiming to make her look exactly Eliza, not like in the comics.

If they base the likeness off of Eliza, they are also basing their likeness off the cover. Chen strives to make her likenesses as close as possible to the actors (and has gotten better & better as the series goes on), so it's just semantics to try create an artificial distinction between Eliza and the cover.

I assumed Scotty meant that it strived for the likeness and artistic version we got on the cover, not real life. Too me, the end product would differ, depending on inspiration.
Now re-reading what he said, maybe he just meant the pose, not that he thought the artists was just going off the cover, instead of checking a real photo to see if Chen got it right or it they had to do something different. Because if I was doing a statue, I'd look at a real photo, instead of a cover where the artists might have gotten the features slightly wrong. That's why it isn't semantics to me, because Chen's work isn't perfect.

First let me clarify what I said above to make sure i was not misunderstood... ;D
Let me begin by saying that I think that Jo Chen's artistic style is Awesome! Her cover painting of Faith is one, if not the best representation of Eliza Dushku I have seen this side of an actual photo. In fact I have studied her style (and that of Jason Palmer and others) for some time and I owe some of my own artistic style by humbly following their lead.
as far as the Sideshow statue it is evident to me that the artist who sculpted this version of Faith used Jo Chen's painting as reference and inspiration...and rightfully so because like I said Jo Chen's art is second to none. Personally I think the statue's likeness is the best Faith in statue or figure form we have gotten to date...sure it isnt perfect and I am sure it will get some tweaking as the production process unfolds.
now whether or not the sculpter used an actual photo of Eliza as additional reference...I do not know since I do not know what process that artist used in his or her creations... to me it looks like a sculpted Version of Jo Chen's painting (minus the spray can and with the addition of the crossbow) and though I find the likeness well done it does not quite rise to the perfection of Jo Chen's original but that is ok. I know from experience that Eliza Dushku's likeness is extremely hard to capture. and it would even be harder still if working from another artist's rendition even if other photo's were used...is sort of like trying to draw a portrait off of a photo that has been xeroxed a few times...you can get close but not exact so some differences can be expected...anyway Like I have said...I think the Statue is pretty Awesome...I wish I could afford it and if I could I definately would love to have it in my collection...of course that is if the final product looks as good if not better than the prototype ;D

Willow and Faith look awful. Willow looks more like a pinup than a schoolkid, and Faith looks anorexic. She wouldn't need stakes, she could just stab vamps with her elbow.
Very disappointing.

I see they captured the sporty/slutty side of Willow that she never portraid in the show. She should have a skirt with an over sized sweater and a slightly less confident stance...then she would great...except for the face sculpt... Faith doesn't look great...but at leas the sluttly look fits her character.

I think those statues look interesting, granted we still can't see them properly in decent lighting I'd reserve my judgment. Edit: Been playing around with Gimp and those statues and I think Willow can be easily improved if they make her skirt a bit longer, cover the stomach with the shirt and her legs with her famous pink tights.

That looks so much better! Great job!
I still the pose is a little to anime/sexy for Willow...but there isn't much you can about that.

I dont like them too much. There isnt really anything that ressemble the character. The throne and the hair just dont fit buffy, she looks like nicole sullivan... Willow looks as weird as the first sideshow doll does. They really do look intresting, but not very character-like.

Yeah, and Sideshow did say they'd add their own "spin" to the statues so the post can be acceptable but the statue itself needs to be much more modest. I dont like them too much. There isnt really anything that ressemble the character. They really do look intresting, but not very character-like. To be honest, that picture doesn't do Buffy justice, in person its such a gorgeous piece. The throne makes Buffy stand out and with the Scythe by her side its a really impressive statue:

not to sound completely off but wouldn't it look better for Willow to be like Witch Willow she doesn't have to be dark willow but they could've posed her doing some kind of spell since buffy has a stake and faith's got a crossbow and stake
willow wasn't much for the skanky schoolguy thing in highschool now if it was Cordelia from season 1 and 2 of Buffy then ok that would fit better to her since she was a flirt but willow was the innocent shy girl i mean come on she covered up her sexy look for halloween with a ghost costume

^have to say, if they released your edited version Lior, i might actually buy it! ;D hmmmm. im not really a fan of the Willow (or the Buffy for that matter). Rather disappointed and angry actually, as Willow is my favorite character. To me, they are portraying these as kinda of skanky! not to be rude at all but, don't you guys agree?! i mean Willow would never wear something that short or revealing, especially if she's supposed to be "High School" Willow(and it's defiantly season 3 they are trying to portray because of her hair and backpack)! I totally love the edited version though that you did Lior, the long shirt defiantly helps alot!! and to be honest, i've really never liked the Buffy either, i mean the concept is just odd.......i don't know why they don't create statues based on episode looks or something like that. The only one i kinda of like is Faith because that's Faith's character to be a little revealy, and plus i like the fact they based this one off of the Season 8 comic except for the paint can/Crossbow thing.....they could have made it so it was full based on the S8 cover. But anyways, it's not like it matters what my opinion of these are because i couldn't get them...they are WAY to expensive! That's why i like the "Tooned Up" line because they are expensive, but not outrageously expensive. Sorry my long post, but!

I like the Faith statue. I do agree though that Willow's clothes problem should be fixed.

I too like the Faith Statue and agree about Willow. It doesn't capture her likeness and isn't like Willow at all. I wonder where they got the picture for a reference and who it was of because I don't remember Willow ever dressing like that.
