Model kits! Yes! Though all the ones I've ever put together either look like they were hit by anti-aircraft guns or came from a demolition derby. That's the whole thing about the SW universe, [most] everything is worn out and "used" looking I hope Walmarts carry the model kits, I'd like to get some of them. I used to have some kits back in the mid 90s, but they're gone along with most everything else I had from then to my childhood I used to want a second Hoth Rebel Base to make into a Tatooine spaceport... I mean the pics on the package of their assembled model made it look like Tatooine to begin with I should also mention that I'm one of those evil stockers who does the right thing, as I've not put out any of the new SW stuff (April 2nd street dated) that's come in Haven't even cracked any figure cases just to look inside... though today my curiosity got the better of me and I opened up a case of the die-cast vehicles. They're pretty cool, though I expected a bit more from a modern-made toy line. The Artoo on Anakin's starfighter is pretty lame and undetailed... for $4.97 you ought to get a little more detail. Maybe that's just me...

There certainly will be Padme figures; she is a main character so we will likely see several different versions of her in different hairstyles/outfits.
I've seen the 'pregnant' Padme in person. The figure isn't actually sculpted 'with child.' Her soft-goods clothing is incorported into her sculpt so that it protrudes from the body making her 'appear' pregnant.
Check one of the collector sites like rebelscum.com or sirstevesguide.com for pics. I think Hasbro and starwars.com also has pics up for many of the initial figures.

I dug out my vintage Star Wars Boba Fett and R2-D2 cake pans and used them as cookie molds. I bought some generic chocolate chip and sugar cookie dough and dyed some white icing red, blue, and green. So now I have a couple Star Wars "big cookies" to take to the Easter family get-together.

They aren't supposed to be out till 4/2 in the US, but I'm not sure about other countries.
IMO, street dates for toys are stupid. If they have the damn things, just let 'em sell them.

Anger. Fear. Exclusives. The Dark Side are they! I don't care for exclusives but there will be three different ones available at the big three toy retailers in the US in early April. Which ones are you going after - none, 1, 2, or all of 'em? Wal-MartReplica of the original 1977 Early Bird Certificate Box set in protective case: Toys R' UsHolographic Yoda (due April 10): Target"Lava" Vader: The nearest Target is a good hour's drive away so I don't think I'll be able to score their exclusive. The TRU Holo Yoda... meh. I guess the one I'm really interested in is the Wal-Mart Early Bird Certificate Box Set. I didn't start collecting until 1978 so I missed out on the Kenner "empty box" with a mail-in certificate to get the first four figures. I so have to own that Early Bird set. And holo Yoda. Too bad Yoda won't be out till 4/10. And that Lava Vader is the stupidest exclusive ever conceived. It's so bad Target's been drumming up interest by announcing how limited it is (36-48 per store) and wanting people to line up at 6:30 AM to get a ticket for the privlege of spending $12.99 to own this piece of shit. And, of course, people buy into it, because I read some braggart on TNI bought 6 of them. And there are more on ebay approaching $100.

If I actually bought the Star Wars figures, then I'd be more excited about working Friday night. I work at Wal Mart and am supposed to help out the Toy Department Manager put out all of our Star Wars stuff to be ready for the next morning. Although It will be nice to see all the new characters, considering that I can't wait for the new movie.

It was a bad enough figure sculpt to being with, but to see it get the "VOTC" protective bubble is laughable. Imagine my excitement when I first read the words "Target Exclusive Lava Vader," only to click through and see a pic of that piece of shit. What the hell were they thinking? I was imagining one of the better Vader sculpts cast in translucent red plastic or something.

That's not all of Target's questionable business practices. Figures will be $7 a crack on April 2nd. April 3rd, they go down to $6. Bullshit, no? Plus, a select few people have been receiving $1 off each figure coupons in the mail, only good on April 2nd. So, these people really save no money.

OK, I kind of lied about Target. They'll be like $5 and change. Blame it on Rebelscum's shitty reporting.
Anywho, two hours to go for Midnight Madness. I'm thinking I'll go to a pub beforehand because that's the best way to kill two hours.

I'm thinking I'll go to a pub beforehand because that's the best way to kill two hours. Ah ok. But it's still a craptacular figure, I like my idea more. I would have used the "Emperor's Wrath" version of Vader, and colored him translucent red with some black spray apps. I love that sculpt... he was also used for that Imperial Forces TRU exlcusive 5-pack, minus the glow-in-the-dark skull. Hehe, just don't get so drunk that you piss your pants when you see all the new SW stuff I'm thinking of heading out in an hour or so, I don't want to have to elbow my way through the scalpers and collectors. Besides, I work there, I know there's a lot of stuff in the back...

I just stayed at home till about 11:30 so that way I could save money for more stuff.
Here's what I got from 2 Wal-Marts and one TRU: Obi-Wan #1 Anakin #2 and #28 2 blue Guards 1 red Guard Darth Vader Padme General Grievous #9 Grievous' Bodyguard 4 Clone Troopers #6 Unleashed Grievous
From Amazon.com: holo Yoda (yay!)
And I picked up two more of those Clone Wars 3-packs for a dude in Canada, which put my spending up to $120 total. Ooof. Twice what I was expecting to spend, but hey, it's all good.

I went out tonight, not at midnight but around 1:30. They had lots of figures, all from Collection 1, but only some were in short supply. My co-workers told me that some guys were filling carts of stuff to buy. I'm not sure that everything got put out, but then again I got there after the big rush. I didn't see the 12" figures, though I did see the Ultimate Vader. I'll wait for that one to go on sale or comp it, though somehow I doubt that will happen soon. I'm also planning to get the Droid Tri-Fighter, that looks pretty cool. Anyways here's what I got: #6 Clone Trooper (all clean, no stripes; are there variants out there?) #12 Emperor Palpatine #18 C-3PO #23 Royal Guard (blue) #24 Mon Mothma #28 "goth" Anakin (picked one with the least eye makeup) #32 Aayla Secura Sometimes it's worth working at Walmart, as my co-workers offered to bring out a few more cases of figures since the pegs and pallet display were already depleted. That's how I got the blue Guard and 3PO, I didn't see any of the Collection 2 figures unless the rabid collectors & scalpers got them right away. (And we know for a fact some of the guys who showed up are scalpers.) The Clone Trooper is awesome, he only lacks waist articulation because of the gimmick. The goth Anakin would be better with ankle articulation since he loves to fall over all the time, but the detail and swappable right hand make up for that. He could always steal someone's lava base. I found that you can activate the gimmick by turning his waist, it's better for a sort of defensive slash. The Emperor is great, the gimmick doesn't get in the way and doesn't look odd. His hood is removable, and underneath you can see that he is not bald -- just a very matted, receding hairline. He could use better arm articulation, though he does have ball-n-socket shoulders. Aayla is pretty cool, only her arms could use more articulation. She even has a ball-n-socket chest piece, like the VOTC figures. Mon Mothma is pretty cool for a "boring senator" character, very detailed and the paint apps are nice (at least on mine). She has what looks like a non-posable business suit skirt under the robes Still wondering what the heck that headpiece thing is. The Royal Guard is awesome, his body has a lot of detail under the robes. Reminds me of Jango Fett because of the blue & grey and the brown holster for that tiny handgun. His armor underneath also reminds me of a BMX or motocross biker's protective gear Believe me, it looks awesome. I'm tempted to get multiples and remove the robes on some of them. I didn't open C-3PO, but that's only because he doesn't look very spectacular or much different than previous versions. I like the Astromech and protocol droids so that's why I got him... I plan on getting Agen Kolar, red Guards, Kit Fisto (with better paint apps), Dooku, Bail Organa, and maybe Tarfful and Plo Koon. So what did you guys get?

The Early Bird package thing is up at Wal-Mart.com! I went ahead and ordered mine... my discount worked too Came to 34.75 total. Not bad I guess, it also includes a trial membership to Hyperspace. I'll be able to take full advantage of that when I move out in a week or so. I'll have cable modem there (finally). Also the Holo Yoda is up at Amazon.com, he's $9.99. Nothing about him being free with $25 worth of merchandise, but I suppose that offer is for the actual stores on April 10th or whenever it was. I'm waiting it out on Yoda, as I don't want him that badly. Cool, but not $10 cool. I'm hoping to score a TRU exclusive Anakin Starfighter along with a figure on April 10th to get my Yoda...

I opened all of mine last night. Man, do these stink. Not the toys. They're all sorts of awesome, even with action features. I'm talking about the smell of the plastic. Phew.
Still undecided on that Early Bird set. It'll probably be $40 after shipping from Wal-Mart.com. Don't forget to save the invoice from the one you get, since a cash register reciept or shipping invoice is required for the figures.
