www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=22499Heroes crosses the pond and lands in the lap of Underground Toys who will run with the new license this year. No need to cut open a yank's head now... Underground Toys announced today that they have been appointed as the exclusive UK licensee for the hit BBC drama, Heroes. Underground will manufacture & distribute Action Figures, collector mugs, plates and key chains. The deal was brokered by Peta Thomson from CPLG. Heroes is an Emmy and Golden Globe nominated show which chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. The first season of Heroes has proved a huge success for both the Sci Fi Channel and BBC 2. On the Sci Fi channel, it averaged 440,000 total viewers in it’s 23 episode run – which is a staggering +547% improvement on their average prime-time slot. When Episode 1 first showed on terrestrial television, a huge 4.3 million viewers tuned in to BBC 2 and Episode 2 went on to retain 92% of the viewers. Season 2 starts on BBC 2 in February. Underground Toys will be exhibiting with Gear for Games at the London Toy Show. SO..for those keeping score, we now have Mezco in the states and Underground in the UK. Those of you moaning about the artistic take on the characters from Mez now have another option, as Underground product often makes it over to the US one way or another.

I'll definately be getting Claire and Flying Peter. The rest depend on whether I have the funds at the time.

I'm quite intruiged by the news of a seperate British line for Heroes, I'm quite hoping they end up being in scale with Doctor Who and Torchwood. The BBC are definitely using Heroes as a marketing push for Torchwood, so I wouldn't be surprised if the toy lines ended up similar at least!

You can tell who they are meant to be but I'm severely underwhelmed by them. The likenesses aren't strong but you can usually compensate by having great bodies... these look cheap and childish. Hiro looks particularly bad.
Strangely enough, Mohinda is one of my least favourite characters but I actually like the figure.

Those lines sound cool, but I'm hoping to hear more information about the "hyper-articulated" 9" line of action figures.
I may be more inclined to purchase some of those, instead of the regular figures which seem to be a bit all over the place in terms of sculpting and articulation.
However, of the new figures announced, I am verily tempted by the Noah, Parkman, Adam, Elle and Samurai Hiro figures. In fact, even if I don't end up getting any of the figures, I'm going to have to get Samurai Hiro since its a cool Samurai warrior action figure (which I've always wanted) and a figure of my favourite Heroes character as well.
Cheers, Haeph.
