I already have so many Funko pop!s so I'm really happy to start displaying Buffy stuff at my place again for the first time in years!
The re-action figures are going to look very Star Wars 70's style and I can't wait for that.

Not a fan of the orb-shaped Pop! figures or the retro ReVision figures, but I have hope that during the upcoming ToyFair, Funko might announce that Buffy will also be part of their brand-new, highly-detailed Legacy action figure line (which Funko has compared to the 6" Star Wars Black Series figures). But, that is only a hope - there has been no indication at all that Funko will make such an announcement.

But like Will said, I have never been a fan of these funko figures. They look very deformed and odd to me. However, I am looking forward to the re-action figures. And I think that more merch will come with how the sales look from the series....maybe a new Sideshow line is due come 2014?? EEEEEP!

The pops will be cute, but of little interest to me. Not sure I'm down for the retro wave either but I'm looking forward to what they do with it.
The more exciting news is that they also have the Firefly rights, and in addition to the formats above, they're also releasing a 6inch "Legacy" Line for this show too. Very exciting.

Oooh new Buffy merch! I'm excited to see these, though I don't really collect these styles of figures. I wonder if they'll make the RE Action look really retro, like well before Buffy's time. It's kind of odd to use a figure style that predates the high-quality figures from the late 90's, for a property from the late 90's. It could be fun though to see some really simple Buffy figures with 70's/80's packaging and figure styles.
I agree that the Firefly Legacy figures are perhaps even more intriguing. That could be some quality stuff for a beloved show that still doesn't have a proper line of figures for it.

Um... Firefly had a line of figures out "Serenity" and they are doing very well on the 2nd hand market (mainly eBay). I know they are grossly overpriced and we didn't get a River or the entire cast. No females - big shocker there. PVC 3 figure set didn't do that bad either but where not to scale and lack articulation.
I am really scared that we will end up with "TMNT Classic April O'Neil" Them GI Joe looking Street Fighter like "Chun Li" or even possibly "Star Wars" or "Star Trek" scale figures.
Only time can tell if this would be a good thing or a bad thing.
My only comment is that if they are going to charge NEW price for Old quality type figures - they better do a NICE head detail and make it worth something. I remember when figures were like $5.00 USD they are now $19.95 USD if your lucky - sometime higher than that.

They just have the license to produce and sell the figures - this is just an early announcement to let you know. NO new figures have been officially put up, nor has any been sculpted for public view.
The only time you'll see the early photos is at a toy convention when they reveal the new line - just as DST had during their ownership of the license. Most likely we will see samples within a year of announcement. So some new merchandise should hit the market as early as the middle or end of this year.

Oz before a Xander or Giles? Seems like a weird choice. What would a second wave look like then? Another Buffy, then Faith, Xander, Giles maybe? That might work.
