Slightly depressingly, they've not made it a traditional release and will just be a purchased set where you know what you're getting in advance. Positive in that you can just outright buy the set and guarantee an SMG autograph but negative in the sense that she's literally the only signer and it'll be an expensive shell out (but we did already cover here that the card would be regardless). Hey-ho. Rittenhouse stressed they really, really tried with Seth Green but to no prevail.

So pre-orders are not even up yet. I just checked the site and it doesn't even have a mention of the set or release date.

Yeah, they're being a bit vague at the moment, not just with Buffy. Other companies have recently had issues with making announcements too soon and then having to back track (Cryptozoic announced the Winchester brothers for Supernatural and Ammell for Arrow, but lost all three!) so that could be the reason. I know Rittenhouse wanted to provide something new, but don't see why they didn't try for a few of the other main cast, even if they are heavy signers - Amber at least just signed for Supernatural released last month! She's clearly willing and able... Rittenhouse talks mostly through Steve Charendoff's posts in the forums on their website. The main response given for Buffy several times now is waiting for approvals from studios.
EDIT: Their last estimated release date (stated in mid-January) was actually for tomorrow...

Pre-Orders are still not yet available on site, but there's some floating images of sticker cards and a 2nd variant to the Sarah Michelle Gellar autograph card. scifihobby.com/products/buffy/ultimate/EBay sellers are pre-selling at $425-475 (USD), that's just crazy. Even pricier than the Jennifer Garner Elektra Autograph card at $553 (USD). Interesting, just saw this: "Coming: 03.25.2015 This product is Sold Out , but please check with a dealer in your area." Guess eBay or local Dealer now... ADD ON! 200 per version of the autograph card made.

Yes, it was finally put on the website, a lot of intense moaning from collectors ensued, but it did sell out incredibly swiftly under the logic that it's only going to go up in value. The sketch cards angered just about everyone who cares for them (they don't float my boat regardless) and the stickers seem a bit redundant as whoever would even pay that much is unlikely to use them as actual stickers. Everything apparently went very pear shaped for Rittenhouse, a lot of blame is put on the sketches and unfortunately it seems to be 4-5 of the actors' fault in regards to approvals. Both versions of Sarah's autograph being made available simultaneously is fairly indicative that Rittenhouse are unlikely to pursue any further sets

i dont have access, but what were their price for the set? no detail was given out.
im assuming that this release was offered to dealers only due to the quick sell out.
$425 or $475 is whats being offered on ebay right now.

$399.99, which was up on the Rittenhouse website until it sold out.
According to a UK card dealer it was over subscribed and the orders had to be allocated, with said dealer resorting to ebay himself to fulfil all of his pre-orders.

Not to fan the rumour mill, but sounds like a lot of sketch art was rejected for this set (but what remains is getting seriously high praise and commanding high prices, so looks like very high standards from the cast/whoever has approval rights at least!) but discussion over on another forum implies that it was mostly Sarah, David and Charisma (plus another) who rejected a good deal (but certainly didn't reject all) - what I find intriguing is Dawn:
From one of the artists: "Reason we got the email not to do Buffy Angel and Dawn was the actor made a fuss as did the Angel guy. Dawn was excluded from the beginning due to other issues. The Cordelia actress and the other were unseen issues."
Seriously wondering why Dawn wasn't to be included but doubt we'll hear any more on it. Maybe Michelle wants to break away from being associated too much with the role?
Complete off-topic sidenote: I once went to Paris in 2007 and of course checked out the Montmartre - a lot of nice art, mostly Parisian landscapes etc as you'd expect. One stall that my family were walking in direction of just had a whopping great portrait of Dawn of all things. It seemed so out of place... I remember subtley whispering "Michelle Trachtenberg!" to my parents - I mean we were stood a good 8 or so metres away, but the artist noticed immediately and just smiled and pointed at me before trying the hard sell!

Without a doubt some sketch cards are seriously over priced and asking more than SMG's autograph card itself. But those are mainly the ones done of the main cast. Why the artist stated the actors characters name seems to confuse me. In terms of sketch cards they should have taken their partnership to Dark Horse and pick up sketches from them. I wouldn't say it would be going behind the actors or actresses back, but they already have some approval for the comics and taking those sketches I think would've bypass those issues. Inkworks took Jo Chen's cover art and placed them on a few cards for their Buffy series and nothing slowed that process down. In fact it was promoted.
I haven't been a real fan of sketch cards, nor do I own one. It was just more of something personalized by an artist that some find to be a unique collectable mainly comic book artist. Would I pay those prices on eBay for one of them? "Hell to the NO!" Seems like selling SMG at $425+ wasn't enough so charge the same amount for the sketch card whomever it may be and boom instant double back the money put in; if not more.
I'm also pretty sure you can commission an artist to do a personalized sketch card for less than what is being asked as well. Isn't that just the same or even better?
Regardless this is just my opinion, but I'll stick with the actual autograph cards for right now as that's already a luxury item in my book.
Happy hunting and don't forget to post pictures of the hauls if you do get one. So far the ones on eBay seems fine and are of some quality, but then again ask yourself would you pay that must for something less?

Ohh no, I'm definitely not collecting sketches, not my thing for any set. I own one from X-Men: The Last Stand just because I pulled it from a box, and that is it. Frankly I think in a lot of cases I could do better. But, it is interesting seeing all of this unfold.
I too am only really in it for the autographs, and the most I've ever forked out was £55 and that pains me - a sketch for a $800ish is absurdly ridiculous.
Definitely agree that they are overpriced, and you're absolutely right - another of the artists sold on eBay an 'unofficial' sketch of Buffy - exact same quality, just not on the 'official' Rittenhouse card - for $76, a good couple of hundred less than they've been going for, for no reason other than it not being attached to this card set.
Yeah, that artist I quoted went on to say he'd never watched a minute of the show (someone asked why noone had drawn Giles in a sombrero) so it makes sense that he would vaguely know them by character names and not so much the actors. They're freelance artists moreso than invested in the property. I just find it intriguing that Rittenhouse knew Dawn would be absent from the start but no reason given, whereas the rest of the actors that kept things up were later developments due to their choosiness. Definitely curious.

There's going to be another Buffy set - looks to be a similar format - with Alyson Hannigan/Willow autographs this time.
