We'll see how the first four go. Luke (X-Wing pilot), R2, Sandtrooper, Darth Maul. I'd have gone for a normal Stormtrooper, and I'm surprised no Vader, Han, or Leia, and just Maul from the prequels. But of course I could easily list twenty "essential" figures across the two trilogies. And still not include Jar Jar. I could do without a certain assumption at the end of the interview:

Um, not really a good selling pitch is it? Of course us Mum's know nothing about sci-fi and wouldn't dream of passing on our childhood 70's passions with the next generation. Blimey, I've treked all over the country so my son could stalk David Prowse with his fan art!! AND if you're not a parent, the above quote pretty much rules you out as a buyer of these figures. Oh silly, silly DePriest !!!!!

Well based on when the movie was made they would be targeting the DADs and pick up a few SW fans along the way, some collectors too. I always wondered why they made the figures sooo small and not in the original 5" - 6" - 7" inch figure during the time when the sequels were made. Releasing them now in this scale you may get a few buyers...maybe... Gentle Giants did a good job with Harry Potter when they had them. Very detailed, so I would imagine the same type quality.

My point is still the same! They may well be targeting the dads, but as a mum/female fan who went to see Star Wars 5 times the first week it came out in 1977, they should look larger when considering their buyers, that's all!!!

I'm not a star wars fan but I hear what you're saying & totally agree. Seemingly even today there is an issue of women and 'geekiness'. I always get odd looks when I say I collect comics and action figures... but it's not like I have to knit & cook all day haha!! That's why I love buffy so much. It shows how girls can be girly but powerful and completely independent without all that stereotypicalness

It was probably a technicality or poor choices of words to use. He could've said the mature collectors and targeting everyone who's been a fan of the film sense it first debuted in movie theaters till current date.
And again no female character chaser, hmmmm maybe SDCC or NYCC will pick one up as an exclusive.

I'll see how Leia looks, & if she's good I will buy the main characters atleast.

ToyFair photos of the initial line (and some 3 3/4" figures in the same display).
