So my little kitten just dropped my Vampyr Book replica, it fell down from its shelf. To my surprise it didnt break completely, just one of the corners broke off and stucked like 2 cm deep in the parquet floor So I noticed a lot of you do have pets, mostly cats and I was wondering how is everybody protecting his collection? I just found something called "carpet stop" also known as" Rug Mate" its some kind of ansti-slide-mat. I allready used different types of rubber but nothing worked. So I was using carpet stop for my carpets and table-runners and it worked out perfectly. After Lucky dropped my book I decided to secure my stuff wich isnt save behind glass with that anti-slide-mat. It feels like fleece and is totally sticky but doesnt leave any residues. Its invisible and perfect to protect all your sanctuaries from being dropped. You can find Rug Mate for 5,99$ on ebay, its really worth it. www.ebay.com/itm/Rug-Mate-2x8-22-x90-NEW-FACTORY-SEALED-Stop-your-rug-from-slipping-/221170415033?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337ec8b5b9

Must of been a heavy book. I would suggest getting carpeting or display in a room that have that thick carpet. So even if something were to fall off it would have that carpet rather than the wood floor to fall onto. Some collectors were using the glass display cabinets which is also a good choice so pets can't get into it.
I'm not sure what part of the world your in, but sometimes earthquakes due come in every once in awhile and you want to be ready for that too. Floods, bad storm, etc you name and be protected against it.

I do have a glass display of course, but they do not have nearly enough space to display all of my stuff. I guess a carpet would be a neat idea, but then again when it comes to falling down the chances are 50/50. Those mats are really great, dropping something by accident is nearly impossible, but really wouldnt want to challenge an earthquake Glad we dont have too many of those over here in europe.

One shouldn't say never, because even living in Virginia we got one last year. It wasn't bad but you could feel it. My stuff is mint in the box so I'm good. I don't have any statues or bust so I don't have that to worry about. Some of my customs are bagged and tagged to the wall displayed.

Sadly for my figures that are displayed in a bookcase/shelf they aren't protected very well at my mums house but thankfully when one of them falls down they land on the carpet. With more breakable things like my busts and statues, I just display them higher up out of harms.... or cats way lol. Sadly I can't think of many ways to keep them safe other than in a glass cabinet it's very hard to protect absolutely everything sadly although maybe it would be a good idea to google 'collectors displays' and see what others are doing with other collections. There may be some good advice as well as to how to maintain them and keep them safe

Beanie boxes are great for keeping off dust from single figured customs. However they don't offer much in the way of pet or clumsy kids protection. Scowling very hard when anything goes near them seems to be the most reliable protection I've found!!!

It's cheaper to make one room your Buffy cave room. No pets, no kidz, no problem and also No Food. Charge $5 bucks a head for viewing.
