While testing the waters with the Potter license they will probably just put 1 female in each assortment. Bellatrix or Ginny would probably be the top contenders for wave 2.
PopCo was only able to make soo many females because they included them with playsets & creatures. When I sent Tomy a message a few weeks ago I did mention PopCo's strategy to them. But as Tomy makes bigger figures they may not have many bigger items planned like playsets or even creatures.
I guess it will all depend how well the next few assortments do at retail.
And if Neca aren't going to make any more Potter toys I wish they would just give up the bloody license so Tomy can send their line to the US.

That's all well and good, but guessing their strategy doesn't give a solid confirmation, and at the end of the day that's all I'm really searching for. Bring on the prototype pictures TOMY!

hey guys! hope everyone is good! so i've been meaning to buy the tomy figures for a while now, i've spoken to a couple of friends who run online toy stores and appearently it's hard to find a full range as some of the figures have gotten some kind of 'rarity' status to them (i'm guessing it's the elves!) that's weird, i've never had any problems tracking down figures before! what is the situation with these figures? have they been a good seller? can you still find them in shops at the moment? i bet there are tons of hagrids on the shelves! i've read somewhere that tomy said they were 'pleased' with how the line went down in shops and were planning a new range coming in spring (but i'm guessing it's being slated for a summer release, since no prototypes and/or announcement have been disclosed). hopefully they move out of the 'safe' character range and do something interesting like putting out a lupin figure, or a tonks one. also, does anyone collect deagostini harry potter's miniatures? i have since december 2008 and we've got to issue 62 or something now (out of 80). i've got to say the character choice here is amazing: i couldn't believe it when i found out we would be getting crabbe and goyle, karkaroff, xeno lovegood and even rita skeeter! will try and take pictures of the current collection whithin the next week (my laptop broke down :/)!

i've read somewhere that tomy said they were 'pleased' with how the line went down in shops and were planning a new range coming in spring (but i'm guessing it's being slated for a summer release, since no prototypes and/or announcement have been disclosed). The new wave is due in July. If you need some help I can have a look for you. A local store has (or atleast had on Friday) Harry, Hermione, Ron & Draco. Maybe Snape too, I didn't have a thorough look. They are $9.70AU each. It was the first time I had seen Draco in stores so I grabbed him: They seem to move very quickly around me. They have re-stocked several times since the toys first hit, though I never found a Hagrid. Luckily another Aussie said he found one for me in a TRU today. also, does anyone collect deagostini harry potter's miniatures? i have since december 2008 and we've got to issue 62 or something now (out of 80). Someone was talking about them several pages back. I like the look of them but have not bought any.

Those look fantastic! Can't wait to see the new Harry. I never liked the outfit they gave his figure. Also, it is curious that this DH2 Voldemort is brandishing his old bone handled wand. Surely it should be the Elder want. Hopefully it'll be fixed post-prototype. I can see that accessories wise they might include some Basilisk fangs and Helga Hufflepuff's cup with Hermione or Ron. And I expect they'll pack Bellatrix Lestrange's wand with Hermione as she uses it during Part II. But that may be too detailed Bring on the rest of the wave!

And the Lame award goes to.... NECA!!!!
If they are done producing new figures, why not distribute the Tomy ones here, since the were the distributers of their other HP product?

I asked NECA on twitter about the possibility for some actually new HP figures, and guess what? Not for this year. Only IF there is some interest for 2012. Which means: no way in hell. Damn it, one more action figure line I collect(ed) is dead.

Ask them on twitter to distribute the Tomy line in North America sinc they have no interest in producing there own figures. Could you imagine walking into Target or Wal Mart and being able to buy them off the shelf. None of the lines I collect are available at the big retail stores.

I asked them once and they said they have no say in where those figures are distributed. I thought it was a load of bull but who knows...

Yeah, but they are the distributers of Tomy's other HP product, so I'm sure they could strike a deal to distribute them here. They just don't want to!!! I hate NECA I really hope the never get the rights to any other property I might be interested in. I can't imagine investing in another line started by them!
