I'd be up for most of those, although the Initiative one might be a bit narrow. I feel like getting back on the horse. Remind me that I said this in three months' time.

I would do it if it was something that I could sell, get commissioned to do, or if it looked good in my collection. I have a lot of extra items that I could put into a list and have the winner pick from. What I would like is if the enteries could also say what they are putting into the "pot." The winner would get to collect all those items. Hmmm...may be too much work, just a tought I had. Going along with that here is my only concern: If this is a "competition for prizes--winner takes all" Sasha and Wayne seem to have a HUGE fan base and many loyal supporters. Some of us don't stand a chance. That would be like comparing the popularity of Edward from Twilight to Ron Weasley from HP. You get what I'm saying. This is the reason I don't bother half the time with the COTM thing. Anyway, I know I type a lot of ramble--long story short, I'm in and I'm interested in doing something.

I know I don't make customs, so I have no room to talk here, but I do like looking at all the customs people make, and I would love to see a firefly/serenity challenge. Thats just a suggestion though.

The challenges were never supposed to be contests. They were supposed to be a chance for customisers to get together and explore a similar theme. Let's just decide here whether we want to keep up with the challenges. From that point, prizes might follow, or they might not.
Just to be clear... I've personally given out way more prizes over the years than I've ever received, so you're ahead of the game on that score, Jamersy.

You're right, Sasha, I've given away 0 items and won 1 item, if you want to call that a score. I don't know how to remedy the contest/challenge thing. I will certainly participate if it is something I can do. I don't care about prizes, I have enough figrues/fodder as it is. But, it is nice winning something, keeping that idea in mind. If it turns into a COTM challenge type thing I'm not sure how we can do it fairly. We all have our own ideas and thoughts and feelings and I guess it is up to the person in charge to make a decision, stick with it, and if people want to give it a go--then go for it. I personally liked the challeges and I look forward to more.

I got an idea for a challenge. my idea is "Statue" every one must make the figures in statue like figure. This could possibly get more people to do the challenges because, any statues that are made in the 3 months can be posted in the challenge.

I'm afraid almost everyone makes statues, so that doesn't really narrow it down to a theme.
I like the One Hit Wonders idea. It might not be the most commercial thing, but it's interesting. There are plenty of cool monsters or villians or charismatic guest stars that just turned up for one episode. Especially if this is for any Joss Whedon show, Buffy, Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Dr. Horrible or Dollhouse.

I had intended in participating in the last couple challenges, but unfortunately couldn't come up w/ an idea, get parts, and make something in time. Out of the ideas pitched so far the comic book one and the alternate realities one(maybe that one could be expanded to include flashback scenes, too) sound the most interesting to me. I would participate in a challenge if weren't prizes. Maybe a poll could be set up to help decide the theme for Challenge.

For One Hit Wonders we could perhaps include Mr. Whedon's episodes of other people's shows like The Office and Glee. Not that either of those shows really lend themselves to action figures. (Although I have a head that would work for Rachel...)

OK, slight change of plan. Of all the ideas posited, I think this gives the most scope for customisers to make easily saleable customs. These were some great episodes. Summer 2010 Challenge: Season OpenersThe Summer 2010 Challenge runs from June to end of August. I am sponsoring this challenge, so there will be a prize (details decided in August). This challenge is to make customs of any character for the Season Openers of any Joss Whedon's TV shows. Some are double episodes or have 2 intended pilot episodes, so these are all valid: BtVS: Welcome to the Hellmouth, The Harvest, When She Was Bad, Anne, The Freshman, Buffy Vs Dracula, Bargaining I & II, Lessons, Season 8 - Issue 1. Angel: City Of..., Judgement, Heartthrob, Deep Down, Conviction, Season 6 - Issue 1. Firefly: Serenity (episode), Train Job, Serenity (movie) Dollhouse: Echo, Ghost, Vows. The thread is in the Jossverse section: btvsfigs.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Customize&action=display&thread=17226

Sasha, its very generous of you to provide prizes. Thank you. I'm currently working few angles as well so with some luck we'd be able to cover some of future challenges as well.

Thanks for doing that Sasha, that's really generous of you to do. I wouldn't mind sponsoring a challenge sometime either, I've been meaning to go through my fodder bins and I'm sure I could come up with a few boxes to give away from time to time.

So, what to do for the Autumn Challenge??
I'm thinking either one of these. Any opinions? Would you participate?
1) One Hit Wonders - Characters that appear in just one episode of any Joss Whedon show.
2) Cuckoo in the Nest - Actors from Joss Whedon shows in other roles.

I would defintitely participate - while these Challenges do distract me from other customs, they often drive me to creative places I wouldn't otherwise have been, so count me in!
As for theme, I'm not sure I'd be as keen for the Cuckoo in the Nest one as such a figure wouldn't realyl fit anywhere in my collection, but definitely interested in the One Hit Wonders - I have a whole host of characters in mind for that!
I also thought of a "Two's Company" style challenge, where one would make a pair of figs that go together - obivously romantic partnerships fit in, but so would one-on-one fights or any other situation with 2 characters... the challenge would be that it's not just two figures, but rather more to create a pair of figures that interact in some way, that don't really work on their own (kinda like mango's Ford/Buffy or Xander/Harmony set, or any of Sasha's two-figure sets)... does that makes sense?
But we've probably done that before...

I'd be good with either idea, I really like them both.

I've decided to go ahead with both the challenges I proposed, one in the Jossverse section and one Non-Joss. Next Season, I'll get another customizer to set a challenge in each section.

So, what to do for the Winter Challenges?
I like dman's idea for "Two's Company" for the Jossverse Challenge.
Any ideas for another Non-Joss challenge?? Perhaps characters from any Non-Joss vampire or werewolf movie/show?

With one issue to go, I'd be tempted to suggest Buffy Season Eight for Jossverse.
Maybe broaden that non-Jossverse suggestion to monsters rather than vampires and werewolves specifically? (Although since we're unlikely to get one, I'm tempted to make one of the vampire girls from Doctor Who...)

Further thought on the former, throw in Angel: After The Fall as well as it's about to draw to a close too. Or widen it to non-televisual Jossverse spinoffs?
