Is this book ok for adults to read? It's not too teenagey? As an adult reader, I didn't really care for the story. For me, the character of Bella really got under my skin, I wanted to teach her how to be a little self-reliant. But, I'm not a big fan of romance novels. I would say if you like romance novels with a little vampire thrown in, it is great for you. If you aren't a big fan of the romance genre, you will probably be bored.

I don't have HBO but I'm tempted to subscribe to it just so I can see "True Blood" (it premieres Sept 7th). I had no idea until I was flipping through the latest Entertainment Weekly that the first 12 episode season roughly follows Charlaine Harris's book 'Dead Until Dark'. Too cool! I need a vampire fix!

I want to see Twilight at the movies... so is it like the lost boys ? I always wanted to get the lost boys book but could never find it.. so if there is not to much romance I might try and read the book... I never read books so it might be hard lol..

So, why haven't I found this thread before?
Anyways, I've read all of the Twilight series and I'm on Dead to the World in the Southern Vampire series. Both are great but I prefer the Southern Vampire series...a little more adult and fits my taste alot better...and there is a great mystery to every book. I'm trying to find a book store that has Dead as a Doornail right now so that I don't have to go long after I finish Dead to the World.
The Twilight movie looks good...and its only 8 days away!!! True Blood is even better. I've only seen the first episode since I don't have HBO but they are supposed to release the dvd and put it on itunes shortly after the first season ends...and they have already renewed for a second season!!! However, I hope they don't do a season for each book...she is putting out the 8th or 9th book next year and somehow I don't know if they could keep the show going for that many seasons.
Anyways...I'm glad I found this thread.

Well I'm slowly making my way through All Together Dead...been reading it for about 2 weeks now and only 1/2 way through....by far the slowest moving book of the series thus far...hopefully it will pick up and I can finish it already! LOL

Currently tearing my way through the Sookie Stackhouse novels. They're not the most . . . . intellectual novels around, but I find they hugely enjoyable and they're a pleasure to read.
Currently almost finished the fourth book and then only three more to go (at least until May when the next one is released).
My only real *gripe* is that every book/event appears to happen within one week of the last book event. Poor Sookie just cannot get a break from one disaster/drama after another. When combined with her incredibly long string of men that she has following her around, it all just seems like too much. I personally ignore all the mentions of past events only happening a "week ago" and pretend that there is a good 6-12 months between each book (where possible).
Cheers.

Talk about All Together Dead being slow...I put it down for 4 months and when I picked it back up I still didn't want to finish it....but I did anyways...my least favorite of the entire series.

Lol, I agree about the Sookie books not being the most intellectual novels but they're a fun, quick read. I recently finished Club Dead and am about to start the next in the series. I've yet to see an episode of True Blood. I'll have to get it on DVD...can't wait to see the differences between the books and the show.

The show is amazing...the dvd just came out yesterday. I'm hoping that the next book will be better. I got it a few weeks ago when it came out in paperback...I know the newest came out in hardback but I'll wait for the paperback. The new season of True Blood starts June 14th....the first season only covers the first book so there really wasn't much left out....more that they added stuff to fill up a whole season.

If you want good vampire book, i would suggest the House of Night series. The first book is a little boring for about 30 pages but then it gets really good. GaGa~Vampyr

Well some how Harris can write the worst book and then follow it up witht he best book. From Dead to Worse has to be the most exciting in the series. I've got just a couple chapters left and then I'm going to move on to my other series.
The other series is The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel series by Michael Scott...very good series for anyone interested. The newest book (The Sorceress) just came out last week and the first two (The Alchemyst and The Magician) are already out...its an awesome series that takes place over the course of a month....there are going to be 6 books total and the Sorceress is the third.
