I really hope that they make a Rita Bennett figure ... with all my Buffy/Angel figures put away in the ‘attic’ they are all wrapped in lots of plastic and stuff to protect them so I can’t get my Darla/ Julie Benz figure..

He looks very cartoony.
And is wearing a different outfit to the figure depicted on the first page of this thread.

Ok. I know he's supposed to be Mr. Demeneted Serial Killer. But, overdoing it much?
The prototype looked soooo much better. :-(

He reminds me of one of the Archie comic book characters .... Haha, yea he does. It's a bit too cartoony. I guess I can understand why they decided on the shirt change, since this is his killing outfit. But I liked the idea of the prototype better. That way he looks like normal everyday Dexter in the collared shirt, then you just have to stick the knife in his hand to make him killer Dexter! And I don't think his badge accessory goes with his killing outfit at all.

Eww lame. I just got into the show and the painted figure stinks. Like Katie said the new figure with the bag looks like a garbage man. Hmm, will have to see it in person.

I got the Dexter 7" figure today. unfortunately my camera is out of juice so pictures will have to wait untill it is charged up.
Note... the photos in the previous post are pretty acurate
I kinda have mixed feelings about the figure so here is a small review...
first the figure should be called an non-action figure since it only has 5 points of articulation...head, shoulders and elbows. so with the exceptiuon of very limited arm movement and a head that moves from side to side there is no posing this figure...what you see in the package is what you get
The packaging is attractive though not collector friendly and quite frankly cheap.it is the same plastic bubble on cardboard similiar to what the Buffy figures were packaged on. the art work is fairly cool with various drawings of Dexter and a brief description of the character logos etc.... also included is a photo of the various other "current" dexter merchandise that is available.
Dexter doesn't come with many accessories...but I guess a serial killer doesn't need much... he comes with a set of interchangable arms. his first set makes his shirt a short sleeve shirt with bare arms and hands the second set of arms make his shirt a long sleeve version and he is wearing black gloves otherwise the arms are the same. they connect "snap on "to the shoulder with a ball joint. he also comes with a work name badge, a knife and a bag of trash (supposed to be body parts) and a fascimile blood slide which obviously looks fake and has the shows logo on one side
They did a good job at capturing Michael C Hall's likeness (not surprising since the figure is officially authorized by the actor) he has Dexter's blank stare and fake smile....there is no doubt who the figure is supposed to be (though at some angles Dexter does look creepy...but then he is a serial killer with blank emotions)...the paint job is nice and clean and the sculpt has plenty of details especially on the clothes and shoes.
I am glad that they sculpted Dexter in a pretty standard decent pose since like I said what you see is what you get...the figure can't be posed (very much like Neca's Sin City figures)...and he has no trouble standing by himself and he doesn't fall over easily.
if you are looking for a Dexter figure that you just want to stand on your shelf then this one is perfect and in my opinion fairly cool...but if you want to pose him, or move him around then the play factor is 0...LMAO Dexter doesn't play well with others
over all
if you are a fan of the show (or of Michael C. Hall) then I give the figure 3 stars on it own merit as an action figure it get 1 1/2 stars
it is merely a statue of Dexter nothing more or less.
I will post pictures when my camera is charged

I saw the Dexter figure "in person" today and passed. The head-sculpt was just way too "cartoon-like". You can tell who it is, but it doesn't look at all "real".
The body-sculpt was also disappointing. Very simplistic and reminded me of something you would find in a $2.00 store.
Still, it was momentarily cool to see a Dexter action figure hanging on the shelves.
Cheers.

I bought it last week and have only seen a bit of the show but I love it, I have to pick the DVDs up soon. I would only ever get his Sister and Rita tho.

I was just thinking that. The hair looks way too dark.
A lot of companies have trouble with red hair, sometimes avoiding it altogether & just using browns (lazy bastards!) ;D
