Are you bothering with Buffy season 8? Are you happy with where it's going? Do you really accept it as a new series?

im really loving it, i look forward to each issue.
But as much as I find it entertaining I dont know if i can accept it as proper canon and that this is actual what happened after season 7...I will have to wait and see I guess.

To be honest, no, I'm not bothering. I baught the first 5 issues, but i just couldn't get into it.
I always saw the comics as a seperate entity to the show. Comics allow so much crazier storylines than can be found done on T.V (ala Giant Dawn). Comics sometimes feel childish too, and the stories reflect that. Like a sideline to the show. They just don't stand up to a level of realism i used to love about the show. I don't think it works either. Slayer army? Warren and Amy? Naww. I think i'd raher just regard Chosen as the end. Unless they do a movie. And its decent.

I buy all the Season 8 comics and love all of them but I don't regard it as regard it as a new series and if Joss ever did a film (*here's hoping*) it wouldn't bother me if he had to shoot down everything he is doing in the coimc.

I've bought every issue thus far, however I've only read Issue 1. I enjoyed the issue, but found it hard to get into the 'verse, mainly because it was short. So I decided to wait until I could read full 'episodes' and just haven't gotten around to reading any of them yet.
I'm not a big comic book person, but I originally bought them because I love Jo's artwork and wanted to see what happened to the story. I know enough about where the story is going (i'm not a 'OMG A SPOILER!! I must hide' person) that it seems interesting. I'm sure once I read them there will be things I love and things I hate, but at the end of the day it's the continuing story Joss has decided to tell so I accept it as that - just as i accept anything he did on the show *cough*DAWN*cough*.
The big problem with the comic seems to be that since the 'episodes' are spread out over several issue and the whole season is going to take several years to finish, the overall season arc is dragging and things aren't clicking fast enough like they did on the show. I don't know if people will ever really adjust to that. I know a lot of people are enjoying the Angel comic more, because with that being a shorter, set run, the story is unfolding at a better pace in comparison to the shows.
Really at the end of the day what Joss said about the Angel comic holds true for Buffy - if you want it to have ended at NFA/Chosen, then that's how it ended.

Honestly, i've got all 13 issues and I couldn't get through issue #2, and thats coming from a comic fan. I just hate the story it's just so out of whack from the series.

Yer, I'm not bothering with it, I bought the first five and they are not that good... and I don't accept it as a new series or as canon.

Seeing the cast together and so positive recently just destroyed the comic's chances with me if I'm honest. It's just not the same. Ironically, (although I haven't read it yet - Waiting on the TPBs) I'm falling more and more for the Angel: After the Fall story. It just seems much more familiar in its plot. The situation the characters were in at the end of the show lends well to the very comicy comic plot, and I like that it's not calling itself season 6. I know it's a silly thing to care about, but I feel it's insulting my intelligence to say the Buffy comic is the 8th season. It's not and never will be.

I love love love Buffy season 8 in comics! I mean, I know that all of us here would probably have much rather seen the series continue on television, but hey, if the comic medium is the next best thing, I'll take it! In truth, I was a little concerned about how the stories and the characters would translate over to the written page, but so far, S8 has done a wonderful job, and i don't see that changing anytime soon! I never thought that the comic would be able to evoke the same powerful emotion in me that the television series did, but so far it has managed to do just that! When I am reading I can clearly hear the characters' voices in my head, and the story has been beautifully done so far! I look forward to what is to come! I hope that other Buffy writers jump on board as well. I am sorry for those who are not loving S8, but I love these characters and this world so much, that I will take it any way I can get it. I am just glad to have Buffy and the gang back.

I was so psyched for the comics. I read the first four. The worst part wast "Buffy" doesn't look or dress at all like Buffy did on the show. I couldn't believe her character.
I think overall the comics just didn't track for me. I couldn't feel the characters, the story was just not very "Buffy," the snappy dialoge wasn't there at all. I know it's hard to translate a show into comics, but it doesn't even come close, IMO.
I may try to catch up on the season later when I can read them all together.

When I first heard about Joss continuing the series in comic, I was rather excited as I collect Dark Horse's Buffy comics for a while.
And When I came to purchase the first few comics of season 8, I was rather stumped at how...boring they were.

I am so relieved that i can fall back on buffy still being created, i felt like it ended at Chosen, but that was just the show...and that the legend continued. I do love season eight, being in scotland or wherever...somewhere in europe, and i really love Anywhere But Here, but i just finished issue 12, and i dont know if i can accept Buffy going all gay. I got enough of that from Willow, and i think the Xander and Buffy should totally click!

So I buying them but just collecting them back to save. Unless somthing I have to read pops up and I hear about I dont know if I will read them!

I think it's great, but the only thing that bothers me is that Buffy is sleeping with Satsu, I meen I'm not against lesbians but I just couldn't see her like that on the show, it took me a while to get used to Willow, but Buffy? I mean she was shocked about Willow liking Tara in new moon rising! And I just thought the relationships with Angel, Riley, & Spike just seemed alot more solid. But maybe I might get used to it like Willow & Tara, but right now, it just doesn't seem like Buffy you know?

The characters don't seem right in the comic. They are missing that "actor's quirk" that makes each character unique. It isn't SMG Buffy... it is simply the character of Buffy without all the expressions, looks, feeling, and overall impression that SMG leaves on an audience. The same goes for all the other characters. It is like a script that isn't acted. Plus, the show focused a lot on everyday problems from homework, to principals, dorm-life, to house payments. Now it is all about Slayer armies and such. The thing I liked about Chosen was that Buffy was "free" from being the "one and only." What happened to her eight year desire to have a normal life? Now all she does is delve right into mysticism and the supernatural. For me, the comic and the show just don't connect right.
I actually think ANGEL: After the Fall connects better with the show... but that might be because it takes place right after season 5. But it still has become a little more far fetched... (i.e. L.A. in Hell).

I am completely satisfied with the Buffy season 8 comic. The only issue I thought was boring so far was the most recent one (#17). The battle in Japan was great, with really funny jokes and totally in character. I also like Angel:ATF.

I like Angel After the Fall though there are a couple of nitpicks there.
As for Buffy? I never got it myself but have read enough from friends' copies to say that it doesn't interest me at all.
