I'm thinking that the boyfriend is more human-ish than demon-ish. I hope it is someone new, because about the only villian I'd care to see again is D'Hoffryn and he wouldn't need weapons. What is it was Forrest? He could have been put back together and living under Sunnydale trapped in the Inititive until the city collapsed. That would make him pretty pissed at Buffy. I never found Rack that interesting, so I hope it isn't him. LOL, what if it is Clem and it's all a big misunderstanding? He returned to Sunnydale to get his stash of Cheetos, and he ended up trapped with Amy who was also having a craving for cheetos. OR, it is Clem, but he has been playing the Scoobs this whole time and he is evil and has teamed up with Amy to finally get the slayer. I am also hoping Spike and Angel's return is only in her dreams. I like the guys, but they need to be in an Angel comic without her and only be used for major crossover stuff, not for just a crappy Amy spell. Funny thought: What if the kiss is from Willow? Or even more likely: Faith (but we know Faith won't be around for a while). They both have been known to joke about having a thing for Buffy. With the government involved, it could be that Riley kisses her which would lead to more drama, but no one would care if his wife Sam got PO'ed, so only slight drama. I think the boots were his and he knows this General is corrupt, so has been keeping tabs on him and ended up finding Buffy in the process. Amy didn't say Buffy had to "love" the person back, so if Xander's been as horny as he always was, then he might "love" Buffy right now. It really shouldn't be that hard to find ONE of the slayers that has the hots for Buffy. The biggest question is Is the General-type guy a baddy or a legitiment government guy afraid a terrorist-Buffy. He has the symbol from book one, did he put those guys there to test Buffy or does he have a secret motive? If so, what? I'm lov'n this comic, btw.

That's a really good suggestion, as far as I know no one has mentioned Forrest. I've mainly heard Adam, Rack, and Warren. I am also hoping Spike and Angel's return is only in her dreams. Same here, I think that the "first" time we actually should see Angel and Spike after the alley should be in the Angel comic. Funny thought: What if the kiss is from Willow? Or even more likely: Faith (but we know Faith won't be around for a while). They both have been known to joke about having a thing for Buffy. Faith as far as I know won't appear until after this arc, at least that's what I got from the interviews. I have heard a theory that this "true love" idea is suppose to be self-love that she is suppose to resolve in her dream, not with a lover. I think that I like that idea best because that makes Buffy her own hero.

Well I'm trying to think outside the box, but he was blown into itty bitty pieces, so it was sort of a joke, but still possible, I guess as much as anyone else mentioned. I'm hoping Amy's glowing energy ball at the end of issue 1 wasn't some kind of magic-made power core for adam, but if it was I hope it's for Forest. Faith as far as I know won't appear until after this arc, at least that's what I got from the interviews. I have heard a theory that this "true love" idea is suppose to be self-love that she is suppose to resolve in her dream, not with a lover. I think that I like that idea best because that makes Buffy her own hero. I like that idea better than someone else saving her. It also goes with her dream since she already kissed Xander in it. If she goes through her mind and kisses people until the right one wakes her up, then she might end up making out with herself. Which also kind of goes with the First taking her form in Chosen. Interesting...

I'm hoping Amy's glowing energy ball at the end of issue 1 wasn't some kind of magic-made power core for adam, but if it was I hope it's for Forest. Adam, Rack and Warren were killed but people are still guessing them so Forrest is just as good a guess. I like that idea better than someone else saving her. It also goes with her dream since she already kissed Xander in it. If she goes through her mind and kisses people until the right one wakes her up, then she might end up making out with herself. Which also kind of goes with the First taking her form in Chosen. Interesting... I also think it fits better than the "waiting for Mr. Right" thing that never seemed to ring right with Joss' girl power message. This one to me would work out better.

Reading all these great ideas is almost as bad as reading spoilers. There are so many things that I haven't thought of that if any of them come true, then it's somewhat spoilerish. Don't get me wrong, I think and think and think about what's going to happen next, but there are always other points of view that I didn't give any thought to. Great theories everyone!

Wasn't bad. Though having Andrew there was really jaring. Admittedly, it's been a year or so, but in that one interaction it seems pretty clear that he is in no way qualified to teach anything. I mean, what he said to Punk Slayer was obviously wrong. Slayers have used modern technology. After all, Buffy used an anti tank weapon against the Judge. I guess you could say that technically it's not a gun, but still.
It reminds me of The Last Iron Fist storyline. Orson Randall learns that Wu Ao-Shi, one of the previous Iron Fists was able to channel her Shou-Lou Chi into her arrows, thus making them pretty powerful. Centuries latter, Orson, learning from this, channels his Chi into his handguns. Tradition is one thing. Intelligence and forward thinking is something else.
I'm really trying to like this. But, I wish that the writers wouldn't just ignore what happened before. It's a small point, but symptomatic of deeper realism problems. Unless of course they're going to use it as a plot point later. I guess it's too early to tell, but the bad points are seriously starting to hurt the storyline.

I agree with you about Andrew. Either he's going to have to step it up, or he's going to be his own undoing. Personally, I'd prefer to see the latter. I've never liked Andrew, even if he has had some funny lines.

Maybe Faith has it. I read Issue 1 again and noticed the comment that Amy wants a weapons lab for her boyfriend. It made me wonder: would a rat demon be interested in something like this? So now I'm wondering if the boyfriend isn't something else. good point Doug! i wonder if it could be one of the hybrids Adam made from the Initiative, that would explain why he wants the weapons? Or, could Amy have resurected someone? She is a powerful, evil witch! i liked this issue better than the first, but im not a comic reader, so im not really into it that much. im sure ill get more excited as it develops more. ive only read it once, but if its set the same time as Angel season 5, then it CANT be Spike in this issue, since Spike explained to Angel that he cant just waltz back into Buffys life, after dying in a pillar of fire. i hope its Angel, it would make sense that it is him, since he has been checking on buffy through some contacts... Buffy and Angel belong together anyways. Hopefully, Kennedy is dead, i really dont like her. or as my little brother calls her "Gorilla Girl" (watch Chosen, when she punches, she makes a monkey noise lol) i loved the ending, with Willow using Giles' quote. Lets hope we see some more action next issue. Im loving Xander's new look, very military and the artwork on the cover is fantastic. cant wait till the next issue. BTW Stakey, if your looking for an Issue, check eBay. ive got both of mine from there, issue one was normal price but i paid £5.00 ish for issue 2. Wayne

I actually found out about a hidden comic book store in town which apparently usually overstocks on comics and I found it there. Also about it being set the same time as season 5...joss has said it is roughly about 2 years after season 7 meaning it would be going alongside an angel season 6 if there was one.

Yes, my understanding is that Buffy season 8 is set after the events of Angel season 5.

Well if Joss is still doing the Mad Max L.A. thing and the other plots he had for season 6 then it wouldn't make sense to have either of the boys visit. And if Angel did visit Buffy for whatever reason it does makes sense for Spike to be there. Even though he said that he wanted Buffy to remember him as a hero he still went with Angel to Rome.
I hope that when the boys do show up it's only as a dream. I like the guys on their on away from Buffy and I can't stand the shipper wars which I don't think Joss will ever settle.

I was just looking over at the Whedonesque site and I ran across a letter from DarkHorse. They were talking about how successful the Buffy comic is. Issue one has gone to press for the third time and was way more successful than they thought it would be. It also states that Issue 2, which was a bigger run than issue 1, has sold out and is going into it's 2nd printing. It also says that issue 3 will see the return of another character that should be even more of a surprise than Amy. They also announced a winner to the MySpace contest and mentioned that all of the runner-ups would be getting personalized copies of issue one all with special personalized notes from Joss Whedon. Just in case anyone is interested.

I was wondering about the run size for issue #2. It's typical comic book practice to short run issue #2 because they don't know if people will start to read the series or not. The second issue goes into printing around the same time the first issue hits the stores.
I think this is great to hear that both issues have sold so well. It's really great reading and terrific art work.

If the series can maintain the level of quality found in issue 2, then I think the Buffy comic will be VERY successful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

FYI: The buffy zone @ Darkhorse has been updated by Scott Allie and Jo Chen's artwork for issue #6 is up... and it's awesome! (I think DST could have learned a thing or two from Jo Chen when it comes to Faith!) www.darkhorse.com/zones/buffy/editor.phpI'm so happy with the quality of Jo Chen's work. Between her work with Buffy and Marvel's Runaways (currently penned by Joss) she's quickly become one of my favorite artists. I'm really happy that she's going to be working on Buffy for a while. Now if they could only get Cliff Richards back for the interiors... Also, the cover for a THIRD printing of issue #1 is up. Same overall artwork, just modified. I wonder what Joss and DH are hiding with issue #5. They seem to have skipped releasing that cover. Hmmm...
