Hey All Since im making this figure soon, i decided to draw the photo too just to give the buyer. its far from done, and i cant take a decent photo of it to save my life. But this is the detail so far. i have alot of work to so on his forehead etc but im happy with the eyes and lips in particular, although there are some small details that i have to add to his eyes. Especially since this is the first male drawing i have done, face on anyway. I usually draw women. but im glad to say david looks as buff and manly as he should and doesnt look woman like ill post more pics as i progress. comments and critism welcome Wayne Based from this Photo

Wow, Wayne! This is really impressive. Why don't we see more of your sketches? This is just a masterpiece in the making! It actually looks like you're better at drawing Men than Women. I like how you've made his face suitably wide and shadowed his eyes to emphasize his over-hanging brow. That shading is stunning aswell. You've inspired me to do some drawing, myself! Really - you should be so proud. Can't wait to see it done!

Hey all heres slightly updated. i started his hair and added more definition to his forehead, cheeks and eyes what do ya'll think? wayne WOW Very Impressive Wayne. You have definitely captured DB's likeness perfectly I for one know that it is difficult to draw a black and white Drawing using a color photo as reference.. you have certainly succeeded The only suggestions that I could make would be the following.. (Remember these are only suggestions, This drawing is Great as it is) When you have completed the drawing, set it aside for a few hours or even for as long as a day, Then go back to the drawing with a fresh perspective and emphasize the darkest areas of the shadows and the lightest highlights (just a little) doing so with help give the drawing more depth. Another suggestion that I could give you that has helped me in the past (especially when drawing a Black & White Drawing using a color reference photo) is to draw what you don't see. I know that that sounds strange but believe me it works For instance when doing the eyes...in the reference photo you really can't see the pupils of the eyes...but in the drawing remember that the pupils are there and darken the center of the iris just a little, doing so will make the eyes look more natural and full of life, instead of looking blank. also when doing the eyes don't forget the make the iris and the pupil in the eyes (at least as much as is visible) perfectly round. Also don't forget to highlight the bottom ridge of the lower eye lid. Another suggestion is when you approach drawing the tile in the background, draw the tile in terms of shadows instead of just lines. look at the tile and notice the grout lines, decide which direction the light is going, then very lightly indicate one side of the tile with a hint of shadow. remember to also to slightly shadow the area directly behind DB (again drawing what you don't necessarily see). Another tip for drawing white tile is to leave some of the grout lines on the out side edges incomplete I find that when drawing tiled surfaces "less is usually more" Wayne this drawing is truly Awesome so far and I can not wait to see it finished. It is hard to believe that it is your first "male" drawing... it is so well done. When I first started drawing, I also only drew women, and it took many attempts before my male drawings looked "manly". What helped me to get it right is a "Tip" that one of my drawing teachers shared with me.... When drawing women (even if they are as butch as the toughest man) remember to round all of the edges. When drawing Men (even female impersonators or the most feminine guy) remember to square off all edges. I can not stress how much this "Tip" has helped me through the years. Keep up the great work Wayne. I will look forward to seeing the finished drawing, I Know that it will be Spectacular To Quote Faith you have "Mad Skills" Scotty--
