hi i have never watched firefly or serenity so can you tell me can i watch the film before i watch the series? i have serenity taped as it has just come on sky movies. and why two different names? cheers ali x

well i watched the film before i watched the series, and i was OK with it, but if you can, i would suggest watching firefly first, it does help The reason the show is called firefly and the movie Serenity, is because the ship they fly in is a Firefly model, named Serenity. Serenity is also the name of a war between browncoats and the alliance, in Serenity Valley i believe, but then again, i could be wrong Wayne

I watched the movie too before I saw the tv show. I was a bit lost, lol. I recommend watching the tv show first, you'll understand a lot more of what's going on. -Jess

Go chronologically and watch the series first. Given the choice, I don't know why anyone would go the other way!

My friend saw the movie and loved it without seeing the series. He bought firefly a week later.
He said that a lot of things made more sense in the movie after watching the series.
