Last night I bought the Serenity DVD and raced home to watch it. As soon as I put it on it felt like it was the first time all over again, I was so excited! Start with River & Simon in the blockbuster-style rescue, skip to The Operative "Where you hiding, little girl" then cue the Serenity sequence.
Now here's my confession. I found myself crying with joy! That one scene with Serenity flying through the sky just made me realise just how fantastic Firefly/Serenity/Joss is, and how happy I am to see that the movie was MADE! No movie has made me feel like that, in fact I never really watch the same movie more than once! There's just something so special about Firefly/Serenity that makes me really proud to call myself a Browncoat.
Did anybody else feel like this? Or am I just emotionally inbalanced, lol???

I bought it the very day it came out, and was JUST going to start a thread like this! I actually raced from school to the mall, so I could get my copy home as soon as possible.
Watching it all over again just made me giddy, in particular, the scene you mentioned with Serenity in the sky and, most especially, the scene where the surviving crew members fight the Reavers, even though I must've seen it at least 20 times by now, it still gets to me. The part where it looks like all is lost, with Kaylee getting hit by the darts, Jayne taking a bullet, Inara getting grabbed by a Reaver, Simon getting shot, and then River being dragged into the masses of Reavers just...it really gets me going! It gives me that odd fizzy feeling that...I don't know how to describe, it's the same feeling I'd get with each new episode of Angel or Buffy, or the one I get whenever I watch "Chosen".
Serenity is my favourite movie ever, and I'm beyond proud to be a Browncoat!
And if all that makes us emotionally imbalanced then..great! Put me in a straight jacket send me to the loony bin, I'd be fine as long as I can take my DVD's with me!

I remember sitting in the cinema and the bit that you are talking about near the beginning with serenity in the sky and that cool music comes on. Me and my friend bethan were like cheering with joy!!
Firefly...you are sorely missed.

Oh my god! I know what you mean about that scene, from Zoe getting sliced to when Simon gets shot you just think "Oh shit!", lol. I remember when I first watched it I was literally on the edge of my seat shouting "get up!". Then when River says "My turn" its just so bloody fantastic, such a classic Joss moment! I get the same feeling watching 'The Gift', I LOVE the 'previously' montage and of the course the end. Even though I know whats coming I still find it really sad. I felt it also watching Chosen, especially during the big fight when it looks like all hope has gone. This seems to be a common phrase at the moment but Joss is a GOD!
