Do you all recommend that I watch Firefly the series, or Serenity the movie first? I can hold out for Serenity, and I do plan to buy Firefly, but which do you think is best to watch first? Thanks!

Oh, I'd definitely reccomend watching the series first, it helps you get a strong hold on all the characters, and really establishes the universe(s) they live in. While the move is designed to pull in new viewers too, without confusion, there will apparently be a couple of references to events in the series, so I think it may be worth watching the episodes, in order to understand the references. Like a treat for long-time viewers!

I just bought the DVD specifically to watch the series before the movie. I haven't seen it yet, but it's on it's way in the mail.

I'm with everyone else. Watch the series so you can get to know and love the characters before you watch the movie.

I have been trying to watch it on Sci-fi but I missed 2 episodes! Does anyone know if they plan on having a marathon or anything like that? I hope so!

I have been trying to watch it on Sci-fi but I missed 2 episodes! Does anyone know if they plan on having a marathon or anything like that? I hope so! Yes, they are going to be doing a marathon on the 27th and Nathan Fillion will also be hosting the Serenity special on that same night as well. www.scifi.com/serenity/The marathon will start at 12 noon and run until 10 and the special will air after that. Unfortunately they aren't showing all the episodes - two that I notice right off the bat that are missing is "Heart of Gold" and "Objects in Space". I would strongly recommend to anyone interested in this show to get the dvd set and watch all the episodes before the movie. You don't need to see the series in order to enjoy the movie but I think it will definitely enrich the experience knowing the background of the characters.

So is there anyone who DOESN'T like Firefly? I think it could be interesting, but I've never watched it. Just wondering if anyone has a different perspective. I'm not sure if its something I'll like.

I didn't like the series. However, I only saw one episode. It seemed very boring to me. A friend who's a big Firefly fan told me that I saw the more boring episode they did.
I loved the movie, so I may rent the DVDs and give the series another try.

I just finished watching the Firefly series this morning. 'Heart of Gold' is definitely my fav ep. I can't wait to go and see the film tonight and I'm dragging along a load of my friends too.

You should definatley watch the series first! It really helps you to familiarise with all the characters and the universe, it will just make you feel more comfortable when you go in there because you don't have to worry that if you miss a tiny bit of information about one of the character's the rest of the movie won't make sense. lol If you know what I mean I just finished watching the Firefly series this morning. 'Heart of Gold' is definitely my fav ep. Really? That was actually my least favourite. My favourite's are Out Of Gas and The Message.

'Heart of Gold' was rather boring the first time round and my least favourite ep. I LOVE out of gas, the message, war stories, objects in space and Ariel. I think Ariel or war stories may be my favourite...too hard to decide... p.s The film ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, my face eps are "Serenity", "Ariel" and "Objects in Space", but overall I'd have to say "Objects in Space", it's just so awesome in so many ways.

I thought the train job was kinda cool.
And in reply to angelaficionado comment, 'objects in space' is awesome. One moment that I really like, its a tinny moment but Rivers face always makes me crack up (in a sad way) when Simon says 'I would be there...', or she imagines he says it. Also, Kayleighs vunrability when the assassin is asking her all those questions, 'you ever been raped?'. On second thoughts, I think 'objects in space' is my favourite ep, with 'war stories' coming in second, then 'ariel'. Of course 'Serenity' the film tops all the eps.

Also, Kayleighs vunrability when the assassin is asking her all those questions, 'you ever been raped?'. I LOVE those parts! Another bit I love is the very start, as the camera speeds through the inner workings of the ship, and the settles above sleeping River. Then you hear all these whispered voices until Jubal Early's voice goes "We're all just floating" and her eyes snap open. *shudders* it's so awesome. I also love the part where River's stood in the cargo bay with all the leaves and she picks up the branch, not knowing it's actually a gun, until we snap into reality, and everyone's around her, screaming. 2 little moments I adore are when River floats down from Early's ship, into Mal's arms, and he looks at her and says "You know, you ain't quite right", it's so sweet. And then the VERY end where Early's floating and just says to himself "Well....here I am" Damn, what can I say? I just love that whole episode. P.S. *fave character appreciation moment*...we saw Simon topless!! Man, do I wish MY doctor looked like him.

I was just about to post how much I LOVE the beginning sequence when it whoosing through Serenity. I love the music at that part. Its imense. Oh and topless Sean, even Joss.W commented on how fine his bod' is in the commentary. I was bummed in the film that we only saw his back tho' when he kisses Kayleigh. I could have yelled 'turn around' at that part! I read on this interview that Sean.M was nicknamed Sean 'the bod' Maher by the cast and crew.
