xanderesque QuestionsWhat kind of flowers would you most like to receive as a gift?I love oriental lilies for the colour, shape and smell. Have you ever used RoboHelp?Yes, it's my favourite tool for building online help. It has a nice structure but is flexible enough to let you fiddle with the HTML code directly, if you want to. I use Dreamweaver for my own website. In my current contract, I'm using Framemaker to handle a single source which is delivered as PDF files, an intranet site and compiled help files. If you could blink your eyes and suddenly appear anywhere in the world this very second, where do you think you'd go?I'd like to be able to teleport over to see my friend in the US, Mary Anne, more easily. She moves around, so wherever she is just now. What are some items on your nightstand at home?Does nightstand mean a bedside table/cabinet? I've just ordered a new one, actually. I'm very excited. It's a Chinese black lacquered bedside cabinet, hand painted with a gold lotus blossom design. I have a star-shaped mosaic glass lamp in amber colours. Hand cream (the kind that can even smooth the hands of a Norwegian sailor). My mobile phone acts as my alarm. I have something naughty secreted in the top drawer. Stuffed inside several pairs of bed-socks, in case my niece and nephew come upon it by accident. Not quite 'the rabbit' but very serviceable. Pizza - do you eat it, and if so when's the last time you had a slice? When I'm too lazy to leave the house and forage for food, I sometimes order from Dominos. I get the Hawaiian. Last order about 3 weeks ago. My more regular take-away order is from the Royal Balti House for a King Prawn Pathia Balti, Onion Bajhis and Pilau Rice. Worcester has a big Indian community and there are some lovely eateries. Now I'm hungry. Balloon! Balloon!

selflesschild Questions1.After all the buffy customs have been done what are you thinking of customizing figures next..(movies,video games, other tv programs)?See previous answers. I can't see myself customising other TV/Movie figures. If anything, I can see me customising real people or branching out into a different style of sculpting. 2.What is a favorite play/musical for you?The last time I went to a play, I was in it. No, I tell a lie, I did go to see Alyson Hannigan in 'When Harry Met Sally' a few years ago. You can't go wrong with Shakespeare. He really is the master. For more modern writers, I like David Mamet. I'm not really that musical so my interest is limited. On stage, I've seen Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserables. The first two were enjoyable enough but the last turned out to be aptly named. I keep meaning to go and see The Lion King in the West End. I enjoyed the film and there is the added bonus that my sister-in-law Charmaingne's cousin, Roger, plays Simba. I'm not sure he's still there, though, as I heard he was touring with the show to Disneyland Paris. On DVD, I adore Romeo & Juliet and I genuinely loved Once More With Feeling. 3.Do you think DST is inspired by you... like do you think they look at your work and say "Hey lets do that next"?No. I'm sure they don't. You have to remember that it is much easier for someone to make a one-off custom than to design one that can be mass-produced. DST have different considerations than any individual customiser. 4.Will you ever get back into collecting customs? No. Some of my previous answers may expand on why. I don't have the collector mentality. 5.What happened to your shoulder while working on primeval buffy? The reason I haven't become bored with customising is that I make sure that it's not a chore. I like to sit curled up on my comfy sofa and watch telly in the evening, while I sculpt. This works fine for small figures but it was a really long process to wrangle that big 12" figure. I pulled my shoulder from sitting in a funny position for several evenings. Then there was the problem of getting her into a pot for the boiling.

Shivi Questionsdid your brother ever tried to teach you Karate ?I did Kung Fu for a year as a teenager. I was great at dancing the katas but freaked out as soon as someone hit me. I'm a big wuss and need Buffy to protect me. I did find my brother's book to be inspirational, though. Here's the review I wrote for Amazon: what do you do for relaxing ?My most relaxed is watching really good TV series box set DVDs, whilst quaffing a Kronenbourg. If it is going well, I find customising relaxing. Just doing something artistic and not on the computer. I also find it relaxing to talk to really close friends. if you could choose between this 2 options which one would you take (for free ) ?
a) a house at the coast of Ireland b) an apartment in LondonNo contest. London. I could really do with a flat down there to stay in while I'm working. Worcester is a nice city and I've got a lovely garden, so that's green enough to be my weekend retreat. I'm not a big fan of the wilderness. I'd be happy to spend a week on the coast of Ireland but not longer.

Shivi Questions1) did you ever died your hair black ?No, I've never done any drastic dyeing. My hair was naturally a honey blonde until it went darker in my twenties and I added some highlights. 2) can you sing ?No, it's not one of my talents! I don't have a good ear either. 3) Why do you love BtVS ?From the very first Season, it pulled me into it's universe completely. I would think about it, when I was not watching it. The characters were so alive, that my imagination would stay with them. I remain loyal to Joss and many of the actors, as if they were my own family. That had never happened to me before and never on such a deep level since. 4) what character are you most like from BtVS ? and AtS ?I wouldn't say I'm like any of them. I do think viewers identify most strongly with one character though. During arguments, I would always find myself on Buffy's side. So, Buffy, I suppose... despite the fact that I couldn't kick an arse, if you paid me. Same goes for AtS. I identify with the protagonist. 5) if you could meet with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be?Kelly Clarkson... Not really! I heard that answer in a movie and it made me laugh. I suppose I should say some important historical figure but, to be honest, it would be Sarah Michelle Gellar. If, it could be a fantasy meeting rather than the frantic atmosphere of convention. You know... she's driving around the UK incognito, breaks down in Worcester and needs assistance. I don't make a fool of myself and we end up having coffee and a nice chat, where I don't scare her by being over-the-top. My fantasy meetings with various famous men-folk involve them turning up at my door and needing to spend the night. Current contenders are Skeet Ulrich, Jensen Ackles, Wentworth Miller, Orlando Bloom, Alessandro Nivola or Eric Etebari. For several years that fantasy centred entirely around James Marsters. Meeting him in person at a convention stopped that one cold. Lovely bloke but I didn't fancy him. David Boreanaz, on the other hand, was an Adonis in person and jumped back up near the top of the list. I have a theory that David Boreanaz is not photogenic. He looks handsome on screen but, in real life, he is gob-smackingly gorgeous and has an animal magnetism.

OuijaRick Questions
--When the deluxe line finally takes over, will you continue to make all of your customs in the 'Mac Style', or will you ever start producing deluxe customs?
--Do you prefer to keep some articulation in a custom, or to have none and it be more of a statue?
I'll answer these questions together.
I can see the attraction that deluxe figures hold for collectors but they hold none for me. I'll never make an articulated line. There are plenty of other customisers who are interested in that and do a great job. I don't see the need for me to do the same.
I'm not the smoothest sculptor in this community, or the most exquisite painter. My power lies in capturing the soul of the character or real person. To do that, you have to 'freeze' the moment. I have a strong vision for a certain pose. I don't want my figures to be moved into another pose. So, yes, I'm a statue girl.
I have never consciously tried to keep articulation, or at least, less and less now that I'm confident about my customising style. I don't sculpt over joints just for the sake of it. I just don't consider them, if I'm changing a position or adding clothing/hair.
--Are their any Buffyverse figures that you find completely unusable for customs?
In the early days, I used whatever I could get my hands on.
The only figure I can't imagine using at all is Buffy Series 1, unless the face was useful for a 'real person'. I find the face doesn't look anything like SMG and the body is mis-shapen.
I'd use the heads from these figures (decent likeness for the character) but not the bodies, unless I ran out of parts:
The Master, Angel 1, Any Giles, Gentlemen, Any Tara.
--Do you think you will use any of the new Cordy/Xander heads for customs, or stick with MAC’s offerings?
I have one of each on their way to me off eBay right now.
I think MAC Series 1 Cordy is a great likeness, with a repaint. I'm interested to see the new DST head up close.
MAC Xander was only moderately successful so I'm even more keen to see this one. The DST mouth looks a little odd from the photos, though.
The deluxe head was great but I was hugely dissapointed with the new line of DST Buffies, once I had them in my grubby hands. I had been planning lots of smiling Buffy customs, but she looked like a Gibbon. Her face was distorted and huge. I don't like any of the other heads either.

Firstly, my typical BtVSFigs questions...
What's your favorite part of BtVSFigs?
What's your least favorite part of BtVSFigs?
What are some things you'd like to see improve on the forum?
What are some new things you'd like to see that the forum hasn't had yet?
Have you been following Survivor: The Hellmouth? What do you think of it?
Now I've got some other questions for you...
Have you ever read a custom commission request and been unsure if you could pull the project off?
What's been your most unique custom commission?
Do any other customizers on the forum inspire you? If so, why do they? Which of their customs are your favorite?
If Joss Whedon were to come to you and ask you to make a custom you've already made, would you?
If you could choose five BtVSFigs members to sit and have lunch with, who would they be and why?

CMK QuestionsWhat's your favorite part of BtVSFigs? The Customs forum. Who'd have guessed? What's your least favorite part of BtVSFigs? There's no part of BtVSFigs that I don't like, but I just tend to hang out in the Customs forum and rarely visit the rest. I've never looked in either the Fan Fiction forum or the Tag forum. I've got no problem with them being there, I just don't have an urge to visit myself. What are some things you'd like to see improve on the forum? As I said, I don't really follow the whole forum, so I don't have any gripes. The Customs forum is a pleasure to visit and the other parts that I look at seem to work very well. Seriously. It's a great environment. Snaps to you and Flobbster! What are some new things you'd like to see that the forum hasn't had yet? It's a shame we don't have a thorough site or database for all the Buffy and Angel lines. The BtVSFigs sister site looked very promising but I know you don't have time to keep it up, since you became Admin on this site. It's not something I have time for either, but I'd love to see someone or a committee take that on. Have you been following Survivor: The Hellmouth? What do you think of it?I've never watched it on telly so I didn't follow it from the beginning here. The first I was aware, was when you asked my opinion about spelling the demon's name. I did read through the entire thread last week, though. It was quite entertaining... even the tears and recriminations about the dreaded demon's name. Have you ever read a custom commission request and been unsure if you could pull the project off?If I have the idea myself, like for 'light-up' Spike, Balthazar or Buffy and The Mayor, then, even though I know it will be difficult, I'm swept along by my muse and feel confident. When someone asks for something I'd never though of making, like Sid the Dummy, I can be unsure. With good reason, in that case. I had the self-fulfilling prophesy that I wouldn't be able to get his likeness. Maybe I just know my own limitations too well. What's been your most unique custom commission?I've really been striving for freshness lately. I suppose Buffy and The Mayor is something I haven't done before or seen before... just because of the scale and sense of movement. The first *Light-Up* Spike was also a fresh idea and came together serendipitously. In fact all the *light-up* ones worked well. Do any other customizers on the forum inspire you? If so, why do they? Which of their customs are your favorite?I respect a lot of customisers on this forum and love seeing their work. They all have such different styles. My current favourite is Willfan. He gets some great likenesses. His SMG is an inspiration. Edited to add some other comments...
I'm still blown away by Alyrenee's Skip. I don't know whether people here have seen his recent work, but Flobbster's Danger Room X-Men series is superb.
I like to see customisers being inventive. WillowsWarlock has great ideas, pushes his limits and tries out different media. Shivi also has a unique style and her mini creations are genius.
A customiser I hadn't really noticed before but impressed me recently with some exquisite work was Angelus. If Joss Whedon were to come to you and ask you to make a custom you've already made, would you?No, not even for Joss, although I might lay down in traffic for him. My muse is very stubborn. I trust my powers of persuasion, though, that I'd be able to offer him the same character in a different outfit or turn the idea into a pair or something more dynamic. If you could choose five BtVSFigs members to sit and have lunch with, who would they be and why?I think I'd have to have 2 different dinner parties, one to relax with my own age group and one to enjoy the young guns. Chill Night InvitesCan I Be Anne? - Annette is my BFF on this forum. We chat all the time online but haven't met in person yet. Pxl - I holidayed in Toronto with Chris a few years back. We got on really well. I'd love to see her again. Alyrenne - I don't know her well but I love her work, she's cool and kind and has an interesting job. I'm sure she'd be a great dinner companion. Girl Power - I don't know Maria at all really but, after reading her 'Hot Seat' thread, she seems like my kind of person. Scullow - We need some male perspective to quell the totally girly evening. He seems like a nice guy who wouldn't mind hanging with us. Party Night InvitesShivi - We hit it off immediately that Christina joined the forum. She's talented, fun and we share that Croatian blood. BA1 - Hansi was the first person to ask to buy my customs. We've been in contact off and on ever since. He'd be great fun. Lior Knight - Lior was my first cheerleader on this forum. He really took an interest and supported my work (even when it was lame). He's a big sweetie and needs feeding up! Jsebold87 - Jess is quite a new addition to the forum. I find her sweet, enthusiastic and willing to be part of the Custom forum team. CMK1887 - Running this forum day-to-day is recommendation enough. You'd make a great dinner guest.

SelflessChild Questions1.have you ever thought of doing an intire scene like book burning room in gingerbread or full on fight scene in the gift?I am doing more scenes now, so maybe. Someone asked about commissioning the entire cast of Firefly sitting around their dinner table but I pointed out it would cost them £900. Large scenes are pretty expensive. 2. What is one custom you think no one would ever commision?I'd say Joyce as a dead body, but someone actually made one of those last year. I don't think I'd want to do it. Poor Joyce! 3.if you had the power to keep MAC working and for DST to not pick up the linces would you do it?That's a tough one. In some ways I preferred MAC but they were a small company and terrible for promising to make something, then forgetting about it for 6 months. We have a lot more contact and influence with DST. They have produced some very good work. Their recent work certainly has flaws but they are batting out the Buffy/Angel figures really fast, which is great. As a customiser, I like having both lines to work with. I just hope DST don't keep making the figures bigger and bigger, so that the parts don't fit together for customising the 6" line any more. 4.Ever think of making playsets? No. My only interest in the playset is to set off the characters in the scene. I don't enjoy making them for their own sake, only to enhance my customs figures. 5.in two years if your customs where the best in the world (not that they arent already) would you redo the customs youve made recently? There are some of my very early works that I might re-do in another way. Works where I hadn't got the hang of using sculpey properly. If I've done a good job (as I believe I have from around Spring 2004 onward), I won't re-make them. Before that time, maybe. I'd have to ask my muse on a case-by-case basis. I'm not being pig-headed, my muse just can't stomach doing copies. My hands get leaden and my eyes glaze over... like I've been teleported to a factory production line. 6.will you only make 6" figures... will you ever make 9",3" maybe even 18" custom figures?I might do customs from the new busts that DST brought out (like Buffy Vs Dracula bust) but nothing bigger than that.

Thanks for the great answers, Sasha! If you don't mind, I've got a couple more questions for you...
What are the three most important pieces of advice that you would give to those who are just beginning to customize?
Do you feel the seventh season of Buffy was a good stopping point for the show, or do you think they could've gone on for another season (or more)?
This is more of a statement than a question, but I just wanted to thank you for all that you do for the Customized Figures section of this forum. You've helped make it the most popular section here at BtVSFigs, and it's a pleasure to have you on the forum staff. You're an inspiration, Sasha, and I thank you for your help and support!

Jsebold87 Questions
1. Do you think that there should have been a bit more closure on the character of Oz, or do you think his last episode was enough?
The way I understand it (from various interviews and commentaries), the writers didn't want Seth Green to leave but he wanted to pursue a movie career, which is fair enough. They agreed to let him out of his contract early, as long as he appeared in one more episode later in the season. This turned out to be "New Moon Rising".
Because SG left unexpectedly, Joss and the writers created the character of Tara to be a friend and foil for Willow. The love story between them wasn't planned but developed out of Joss noticing their chemistry as actors in "Hush".
By the time the Oz episode came round, the Willow/Tara story meant that Willow needed to choose Tara over Oz. I think that was a clever move on the part of the writers due to actor availability.
It seems that SG maintained a good relationship with the show because he wasn't contracted to appear in "Restless" but did it as a favour. Joss also looked at the possibility of bringing him back in later seasons but their schedules never worked out.
Amusing sidebar... SG and SMG are very close friends in real life. I think that's sweet. He visited her in Japan when she was filming "The Grudge" and she did voice work on "Robot Chicken" to support him.
2. What are your thoughts on how "Not Fade Away" ended?
I liked it very much. What happened with Lindsey was shocking but very clever. It also gave Lorne something meaty to do, which was great. The writers made me feel sorry for Eve, which was a miracle.
Wesley dying was heart-breaking, but seemed right for a finale and after what happened with Fred. It also allowed Illyria to develop and show new facets.
I though Gunn was under-used (as he had been for 3 years). Spike's poetry slam was hysterical.
I loved the Connor/Angel moments and the show finishing on Angel's heroic face... hence my banner.
I wasn't ready for AtS to end at all, so I felt like I needed more after the last scene. I did like the idea of Angel continuing the fight, though.
I don't blame the writers. I think they set it up so that it could work as a finale but also left the story open for TV movies or being picked up for Season 6 after all.
I know Joss had plans to make Season 6 a post-apocalyptic world. Illyria would have been co-habiting the body with Fred's soul (somehow). Wesley would have survived too, if they had been picked up.
3. Favorite episode of Buffy?
That's a very difficult question. I'll name a few classics... Angel, Surprise/Innocence, OMWF, Fool for Love, Hush, Restless.
4. Favorite episode of Angel?
I Will Remember You, Darla, The Trial, Reunion, Dead End, Orpheus, Home, Not Fade Away
Edited to add...
I was such a fanatic in 2004 that I couldn't wait to see the episodes in the UK. I often read spoilers online and read the entire script of 'The Girl in Question'. I though it was the funniest thing ever. I was belly-laughing during the more lunatic Spike/Angel exchanges.
I was strangely disappointed, when I saw the episode. I found it less funny. After much pondering I decided that I blame the director (much as I usually love David Greenwalt). I think it was a mistake to encourage the guest stars' over-the-top acting and make-up. The worst thing was the 'comedy' music, which made the very clever and witty script become more slap-stick.
5. What is one of the worst movies that you have ever seen?
I'm a big review reader so I manage to avoid bad movies most of the time. This isn't a bad movie in the directed-by-Ed-Wood sense but my biggest disappointment with a movie was "Matrix Reloaded".
I adored the first movie and was so excited to see the sequel but the story just went up its own arse. There were laughable scenes, like the supposedly erotic nightclub scene, which just looked silly. What I can't forgive is that this movie tried to invalidate the logic of the first movie.
I was dragged kicking and screaming to see the third movie and it was no better.
Now, if anyone mentions Matrix 2 or 3, I just put my hands over my ears and sing "La, La La". I pretend they don't exist, so that I can continue to love the first as a stand-alone.

Thanks for what you've said earlier about me, its very sweet of you. Which Buffy (the character) figure you like the most (both MAC and DST) – not necessarily for customizing? Which BtVS & AtS ornament looks the best? If you could choose any character from any episode of Jossverse, to be made into figure, which would it be? (Even if you’ve already custom made this character) Deluxe Vs “Old-School” – which would you like best?

Harmony Questions
1. What do You think of me?
I don't know you. Sorry! I'm a bit crap about reading the whole forum so you have to hang around a lot in the Customs forum for me to get a sense of you.
2. What do you think of the Character Harmony
a) from Angel
b) from Buffy
I liked Harmony as a character from the moment she appeared in Buffy. I thought Mercedes did a great job of playing her as a different type of character than Cordy. She was mean in a more innocent way. She gave her a sheep-like quality.
I was suddenly struck in Season 4 of Buffy at how beautiful she was. I don't know whether MM had a slight nose-job or it was just that she matured physically in those few years. She was quite young, when she started.
I loved her persona in Buffy Season 4 and 5 and in Angel Season 2. I though she was a great addition to the cast of Angel Season 5 but there were a few times that I felt the writers were labouring to give her a story-line. Like they were milking her for a bit too much humour and made her lose some of her natural charm.
As a side note... I felt that some of the Angel Season 5 writers didn't know how to give Spike an authentic voice either. He often sounded forced. It's unnatural to use the word 'Bloody' in a sentence that often.
3. Do you Like Tuna Fish?
Odd question!
It's OK. I only tend to eat it in one dish though. Pizza Express in the UK made a superb Salad Nicoise.
4. Do you like Penut Butter?
I've always liked peanuts but never got into the habit of eating Peanut Butter. I've also never tried it with jelly. We have jam in the UK with lumps of fruit in it. I suspect that's a nasty combination with PB.
My nephew Harry was staying with me a few months back and got me onto PB. I now keep a jar of Sun-Pat in the cupboard and have it on toast, when there's nothing else in the house. For instance, when I get so caught up with customising that I forget to go out and forage for food.
5. How do you feel about Pluto not being a planet anymore?
I don't have the kind of nostalgic view of it that some of you expressed, because I don't have a clear memory of learning about the planets at school.
Pluto is one of the few planets I can name, so losing it is disconcerting. There is also the association with the cartoon doggie that is disturbing.
My first reaction is that I wish they hadn't demoted Pluto but someone in the discussion thread made a good point. We need to keep updating our canon, otherwise we'd still believe the earth was flat.
