I tried to take it apart for you, but no luck. Mine is really secure - to the point where I was a little nervous it might break if I continued.
No. 4 Pic! Hey now! ;-) Do not make me post some others!!!! ;-) LOL!

You could cut the stake right at the point where it meets the scythe and most apoxy (sp) glue should do the trick - you may be able to do this with very little damage. Maybe....

simple question: IF i decide to cut them apart, which part/area is the best safest one cut and how do u propose i fix them back? strong glue gonna wrk? I just had an idea... Since the stake is the problem for you getting it past customs, instead of cutting it off couldn't you "permanently" cover the point? For example, have the friend sending this to you mold a nice cylindrical endcap out of sculpey to fit exactly to the point of the stake, make sure it looks perfectly cylindrical and professional, cure it and paint the sculpey endcap black or metallic silver to make it look like a piece that was originally there, then glue it over the point with something strong like epoxy so that the endcap becomes firmly and "permanently" attached. So even if customs yanks on it to see if it's removable, it won't be. But when you get it you should be able to break the sculpey off, sand it down to the stake, then re-stain the point. I don't know if it would be worth risking getting your Scythe seized, but if you can't remove the stake and don't want to saw it off, it may be worth exploring. Just a thought.

well on the pics karen posted, there was a gap where the stake was joined onto the scythe, so maybe you could just cut that off and then re attach it later, then you might even be able to get the stake to fit better than it was before? wayne
