Word is that the action figure lines that might continue are Palisades Aqua Teen Hunger Force and possibly Sesame Street. And even if they do continue, it will probably be just the waves that were in some stage of production.
I'm hoping that Buffy Palz series 3 was also in some stage of production and they will see the light of day. If that series does well, then they may continue the line. As was mentioned earlier, the costs to produce these can't be very high. Very little tooling is required, it's just a matter of paint and packaging. Maybe some new hair pieces and accessories, but I would think the costs involved would merit future releases.
Either way, we'll know more when we see what they have planned at Toy Fair in two weeks.

What caused palisades to get into financial problems? The stuff they've released has seemed nice and have sold well

I think their con presence was a bit excessive. Given the size of the company and their market share, they spent disproportionate amounts of money on having a huge and very nice booth/display at many cons. They attended more than Marvel (who are on the other end of the spectrum spending basically no money on cons). I saw the same thing with Crossgen Comics before they imploded. The had a huge centrally located booth that put to shame the others with bigger market share.
I'm certainly not saying that this spending alone caused their downfall (though it certainly didn't help). It seems like a good indicator of general over-spending though. More likely causes are things like the end of the Muppets line. That was such a huge hit and had distribution in major retailers like Target. If they expanded for that success and then had no other mass-market line... well, that must have hurt.

I remember when the third wave of the Muppet PVC's came out. I believe Ken said they'd have to sell 2,000 to justify making a fourth wave. And they DIDN'T make it. Some of them were still available almost a year later. Collectibles are a tough business. I would also bet that taking on Factory X didn't pan out the way they hoped.

It's somewhat funny that there is a press release just days after that action-figure.com article stated that they generally don't do press releases for companies ending. Does anyone know what the bankrupt major retail partner mentioned here is? Some have speculated that Musicland's downfall may have contributed to Palisades problems. As to how this could have happened to a company with great product? This is a specialty market...not everything sells as much as people think they sell. We like 'em but maybe not a whole lot of other people do.

Does anyone know what the bankrupt major retail partner mentioned here is? It bares some mention that Palisades did NOT send out a press release. The characterization of Mike Horn's message as such is entirely without merit. CAS, however, did send our a press release which is a good sign that the future may be more than a fire sale. But it wasn't a "shutting the doors" release, but an acquisition release. Horn's message was a personal email that while I trust he realized would likely be made public, was not written as a public document and shouldn't be regarded as such.

It is almost certain that the retail partner mentioned in the letter from Mike Horn is Suncoast/Sam Goody/Musicland. They supported many of Palisades lines, and them going bankrupt would have severely impacted the volume of product released. There is a huge list of store closings that is going to impact many manufacturers of collectibles. I've seen the list posted, but it's in a post that will expire. I'll include a link to the permanent article when it's posted. I really loved them for the great clearances they had, but that probably says a lot right there. Often you could pretty much be certain that if you wait long enough it could be on clearance, meaining they probably weren't selling enough. Update: Here's an article that lists the closings of all the Suncoast, Media Play, and Sam Goody stores. www.toymania.com/news/messages/7861.shtmlIt's huge, and is certain to impact many Buffy and Angel collectible lines. These stores were big supporters of the DST lines as well, so losing such a huge number of retail outlets is not good news.

personally, I see this as coming closer to DST's closing... Each Buffy store is being picked off one by one.. And I think, because other then Stargate and Xmen, Diamond is getting closer to extinction BUY BUY BUY PEOPLE!

I think that is a completely ridiculous leap to make...

I think DST is doing good. I mean, if they were worried about the Buffy line not doing good, we won't be getting the Buffy/Dawn/Glory/Joyce line we are getting. I also think with Stargate and now the X-men movie mini-mites (or what ever) now in their name, they are becoming a very popular company, and will be around for awhile (and maybe even go main-stream).

I don't collect the Palz, but this is sad news for you people out there that do. The Series 3 wave did look like it was going to be a great one. Oh, well, maybe someone else will save the Palz line. Here's hoping
