I've been wondering about this, because like everyone's said, it's been so long with no word about series 3 Palz. I'm really disappointed that we probably won't see them now. I really wanted Faith, and the Palz Snake Mayor was just too darn funny!
I can't help wondering if going to blind boxing on the rest of their Palz lines hurt their sales. I know I haven't bought any of the blind boxed stuff, even though I like the X-files and Die Hard lines. With my luck I'd end up with six of some character I didn't want ONE of...

If the Scythe winds up not getting released after all of the hype this whole time...boy, will that be disappointing. It will indeed, since I have it preordered at BCC. A Palisades rep is still swearing at the FactoryX board at Palisades' site that the Scythe is going to be available by February. They're sticking by the announcement about the Scythe they made when the Orb was released, that it would be "COMING REAL SOON (in like, the next month)"--so I really, really hope it's true. The fact that FactoryX is still bringing products like the Orb and Vampyr book out to retail is a good sign that perhaps their Scythe announcement can be taken seriously, since they've never made a public claim before that the Scythe would be released within a month. We'll see. The sad part is though, the Scythe might've been released almost a year ago if not for the Palisades takeover of FactoryX. Until then, FactoryX was known as a small but respectable operation, with no year-long delays like the Scythe's or poor quality issues like the sloppy paintjobs and cheap or lightweight wood used on some recent products. I guess the idea behind the purchase was that FactoryX would get Palisades into the prop business, while Palisades would get FactoryX wider distribution and better retail presence. But Palisades might have dragged FactoryX down instead... I can only hope that FactoryX survives, because I like their prop replicas. I've never liked block figures, and thought that one or more of the companies concentrating on block figures would go under since they're competing for a relatively small market segment--block figures are like modern pop art: a significant minority love it and buy a lot, but a large majority dislike it and prefer more traditional styles. But I sympathize with those who love Palz and other Palisades products. It's disappointing all around.

As I understand it, Factory X was bankrupt when Palisades bought them. They wouldn't exist in any form today had the not been bought out. That could be true, but it's different from what I read. I read around the time of the purchase that FactoryX had a very small operating budget and fairly small sales numbers because they sold their products to a small niche of collectors, and that the Palisades purchase would get them a larger more mainstream distribution and bigger operating budget. I hadn't heard that they were bankrupt. That's not to say it isn't true; it's just not what I read around the time of the buyout. I may have been misinformed. But either way quality isn't what it used to be, and the delay on the Scythe is inexcusable. It's the one prop in their lineup with huge potential crossover appeal, due to its unique design. It should've been made their #1 priority--I can easily picture it drawing eyes and garnering purchases in knife and novelty shops in malls everywhere, not just in the usual sellers. Their swords and axes and daggers from Underworld and Sleepy Hollow and Jeepers Creepers aren't anything special or unique or eye-catching--they look just like most other swords, axes, or daggers. The Scythe is different, unique, eye-catching--a real potential hit, despite its price point. Not making its release a top priority and getting it to retail 6+ months ago seems like a huge misstep.

It is worrying, I had a wander over to the Palisades site and the Christmas snow is still on it and the items in the club are mainly "back orders" (whatever those are) there are a couple of Transformer items with "almost gone" on them. Is it me or is the a trend we saw with MAC: loads of warehouse finds? Check. Internet auctions of prototype stuff? Check. No site updates or response to emails? Check. I actually emailed into Palisades and haven't received a reply... Its all the worrying MAC trend. And I cannot help feeling partially responsible, I joined the MAC Club, MAC folded, I joined the Palisades Club, Palisades has probably folded. I'm a jinx. I really am a jinx.

It is still very strange they didn't officially announced the cancellation. They can't cancel something and hope people won't notice.

I wish we had at least gotten to see prototype art for the demon plush/beanies that Palisades announced over a year ago. All we got to see was the plush stake, which looked like a brown carrot (but I preordered it anyway). Darn it. I wanted a plush Clem. Or maybe a plush Gachnar (actual size).
Did Anyanka's necklace ever come out? I was ignoring it since I was holding out for the Chosen amulet and/or the Gem or Amara, and I wouldn't be able to afford all three, but I guess those two will never happen now. All I ever saw was the cross, which I wasn't interested in.
That's the trouble with one failing company buying out another failing company. It's like tying two rocks together in an attempt to make them float.

I'm really hoping another toy company picks up the PALz line. I admit I have no real grasp of the process that goes into making them or the manufacturing cost, but with the number of parts on these little suckers that are interchangeable I just can't help but thinking they'd turn at least a very respectable profit if handled correctly.
It's currently our only opportunity to get characters who frankly won't be offered in 6" or 12" format -- like Ethan and Gwen. It's a matter of a new hairsculpt, maybe a few other pieces, some accessories, and then it's just a question of paintjob. There's so much versatility to them. Who wouldn't want a tiny Illyria? They have a fun factor the other figure offerings don't. And they have a price that's not too hard to swallow -- I can't see a casual fan dropping $45 on a Sideshow figure in a toystore, but $8 or so, yeah.

So, has there been something official yet? Wow, this really sucks. I was totally looking forward to a faith with likeness that actually looks like eliza. I really wanted a fourth wave too. Tara would have rocked. I really hope that they will continue cause there is so many characters who needed to be made Hopefully we find out soon, cause this dread is killing me ....

XD I bet the Palz would be a better Eliza likeness then the figures! And yeah, the Buffy line doesn't get cancelled until Tara is made in "Hush"/"Restless" and "OMWF"/"Seeing Red" then PT can do what ever the hell they want.

There will be no Third Series of Buffy PALz, no Fourth Series, no Tara, no Faith, no Dark Willow, no "Chosen" Buffy, no more. It's not a matter of certain lines being canceled, it's a matter of the company, Palisades (the company) is through. This applies to all lines Palisades was working on, and all future lines they had in store for us.

This is really bad news. I really enjoyed the PALz and was really looking forward to the Angel license.

So does that mean that us who preo-ordered are screwed? This is so sad I was so excited Normally you don't pay upfront for preorders. If you did the company will refund your money I'm sure once the official word comes that the line is cancelled. Such a shame. I'd always hoped that Mezco would pick up the Buffy line for their mini figures, I love their stuff.

It bares mention that there has been no official annoucement concerning the Buffy Palz line. I'm not holding out much (or any) hope at this point, but its still at least slightly too early to be sounding the death knell for the line.
I will say, though, that I dearly hope somebody *cough*DST*cough* steps in and keeps the Palz alive. Especially with the Buffy liscence, its done quite well for itself and I really think the concept is the most enjoyable of all the block figures. Would seem a very nice fit for Diamond, but I'm not holding out much hope for that either.

So bummed out. I really liked palisades. Loved their Super Grover and Rainbow connection Kermit. I, of course, freaked over the palz. I have them all and I'm really disappointed that we won't be getting the third series. If Michael Crawford is saying they are done then people you need to come to terms with the fact that they are done. This stinks! That means we won't be getting the sesame street line either.
