Hi all!
Just need some advice... I've got the regular edition Human Spike and thinking about changing his gloved hands into human hands like the exclusive version. However, are the gloved hands designed to come off? I've applied some force to try dislodging them but they seem pretty firm and I don't want to risk permanently damaging the figure. So, for those with the exclusive Spike with interchangeable hands, are the hands easy to remove? Any different really from the non-exclusive version?
I seem to have extra hands from Luke and Anakin so could use them for Spike, although not going to paint the nails black... Anyway, did Spike always have black nails?

Spike didn't have black nails in the later seasons of Buffy. And probably Angel, I can't remember. The "interchangeable" hands for the exclusive edition Sideshow Spike aren't that easy to interchange. I feel as though he's going to break. Maybe you could soften up the plastic by putting the hands in warm or hot water for a moment? Just make sure Spike's coat and shirt don't get in the water. Not that water will hurt them... but I'm anal retentive about how I take care of my toys BTW those are mini, metal, "functional" handcuffs in Dru's hand...

Thanks for the tip. Might try that soon.
Hey, I got handcuffs too from LAPD gear... though never thought of using them with BTVS displays... er, what's Dru doing with the handcuffs???

I heard that if you use a blow dryer on the hands it will soften it a little so they will come off easier. Try a low setting though.

The hairdryer has the possiblity of ruining the paint, so if you want to be ultra-careful, wrap his hands in an electric heating pad before you try. It was very difficult, I thought, to exchange his hands. I have a friend who made her own custom hands from another Gijoe type figure, drilled them out, etc. If you only have a hair dryer, make certain you don't leave it on too long and at a low speed.

I'm not sure... but Invisible Woman seems pretty curious! I have more pics that I took recently of my toy collections. I don't want to show them all here as they're not all Sideshow or Buffy related, but here is what else I have on that 12" figure shelf for now. (I have lots more I'd love to display...)

That's all looking pretty kinky, and Palpatine's about to break into a song!
I just had the same problem. Being the impatient person that I am, I just twisted and pulled off the human hands from the vampire Spike and pushed them onto the human Spike. I'd say that it was scary doing that, and I could envision some nasty snapping taking place. It all worked out in the end.
I think I'd go with the hot water idea, just to soften the plastic. The wrist pegs are quite sturdy. Just be careful, and take your time...

I changed one of Willows hands few days back with the extra hand included with the figure. It was no small feat!!! Panicked wrist joint might break on a few occasions. Now I'm paranoid about changing hand back...
Warm/hot water won't damage the paint?

Just a short dowse shouldn't cause too much damage. It's just enough to soften the plastic. It's a tip that's used for 1/6 military boots - they're an absolute pig to get on! They also have paint details that don't get damaged.
I suppose it's a case of watching how it goes, really.

That's all looking pretty kinky, and Palpatine's about to break into a song! LOL I like to have fun with my figure displays. Super posable figures and twelve inch figures / dolls usually fall victim to my wacky antics. In that pic with Palpatine, he's just pulling back his hood. He does look like he's been affected by Sweet though "The Jedi, what a pain they are... but the Sith, we've come so far..."

Hey,
I changed my Spike's hands awhile back and I don't remember having any problems - just gave it a good pull and they came out. I replaced them with the hands from a 12" Andromeda figure (Kevin Sorbo). I had to do a little alteration to make them snap in but they are much more detailed than the 12" Star Wars hands (excluding the Sideshow ones of course)!! Worked great.
Oh, and hot water on the figures will not damage them or the paint. It's called boil and pop, I do it all the time on lots of figures and have never had one damaged by it.
