I love this episode! Great opening season episode! It really sets everything up for the rest of season 7. The reanimated spirits are really cool and Dawn making new High School friends through kidnap by spirits is weird yet cool. Her first day, and she gets taken hostage, thats the Hellmouth for you. And The First appearing as all the previous Big Bads is really cool! Introduction of Wood is cool too. Fantastic episode! 10/10

The final scene with the First is one of the all time great buffy moments in my eyes...I LOVED it.
I love how this episode set the whole season up and is the best season opener out of them all I think.
Simple plot but very fun and I love the whole arrangement with big ole business man xander takign dawn to school and buffy as a mother figure...the two of them with dawn almost like a little family...and willow in england was unimagineably cool...I just wish there was more of it!!
spikes sudden appearance was a bit sudden and not dealt with all that great...just happened and then buffy runs off...wierdly handled I thought what with the whole big cliffhanger.
the beginning sequence was really cool too, what with all the chasing.etc.
I like how thye finally realized Dawn isnt this lil kid anymore and her empowering through out the season, begining here...well actually I guess it begun in Grave but whatever. You catch my drift.
One thing though...this season opener set the season to be like the greatest hits of buffy and is a comment Iv heard from the writers, and although I adore season 7 I do not think it totally lived up to this 'greatest hits' kinda of idea...I know its all about actor avaliabiltiy etc but I would have loved to have seen GLory at least once and a few others. But this ep did set it all up and this one and the first 6/7ish episode of season 7 are some of the best monster of week episodes out of all of buffy. All very slick and well acted/written, I just wish the rest fo the season could have been to this quality of the first few episodes. (but season 7 is still my favourite I think but that does not think I rekcon it was perfect)
10/10

A great season opener, giving plenty of tasters as to whats to come. The first appearing as every villain was a great way to introduce this year's evil, plus signifying the fact that it's the final sason; a shame it didn't pay off as well as it hinted. The sorely missed Joss sparkle is finally back in places, the bright outlook has returned, although it is a little bit disappointing hat they seemingly needed to rehash the school setting to achieve it. Its great to finally hear some happy banter. Unfortunately the first ep also hints at the upcoming negative eleents of season 7: Plotholes. Who placed the talismen in the bog? Spike in the basement? His hair grows now? etc etc

It's not on top of my list but a pretty good episode. The weak point, IMO, where the ghosts and the far too easy solution. But the thrilling opening scene in Turkey; the full circle with both the high-school reopening and with Buffy's speech ("It's about power"); the big bads scene at the end and lots of funny moments are what make this episode so enjoyable. So overall I give it 8.5/10.
