WOW!!!! Simply amazing episode. EVERYTHING about was great. The teaser, the big fight, Xander and Anya getting engaged, The Whole Magic Box part. There is not one part in this episode when I am bored. Anya was great! Giles killing Ben was a shock. Probably one of the most surprising endings. One of the most saddest moments. And of course the fantastic "Previously on..." and the teaser. And Buffy's, "I just wish... I just wish.. my mom was here." kills me everytime.
10/10

I think this is the very best episode of Buffy. Every character plays a major part - Anya comes up with the idea for the orb & hammer, Willow saves Tara and uses magical communicatiom, Xander weakens Glory with the wrecking ball, Spike delays Doc getting to Dawm, Giles finishes off Glory and Buffy makes the final sacrifice. That's the main reason I much prefer this to Chosen (where Willow and Spike played major parts, with the rest just acting as warriors at the same importance of the potentials).
There's so many great moments here too. The montage at the beginning is fantastic, and even before the big battle starts we get Xanders proposal. When Giles kills Ben it's a defining moment for his character. And Buffy's final scene is one of the most emotional in the shows history.
****** (5/5) without question.

This whole season has been a build up to this moment. Everybody was sitting at the edge of there seats, waiting to see what happens. For the 100th episode, i thought the fight scenes would be a little more jaw dropping than Buffy simply swinging a hammer. I was upset that for the whole season, they made a statement that Glory was unbeatable to even Buffy, and then have Giles kill her off! Buffy even had a connection with Ben, so it would have worked out better if Buffy done this. I'm glad that Willow fixed Tara because i thought this was the end of the character and thought she would have been killed by Glory in this episode. Buffy's sacrifice at the end was no suprise ( thanks to the trailers ), but her death was symbolic, heroic and was a perfect ending to the 100th episode and the 5th season. It was a perfect way to leave the WB, and leave all viewers in tears. 10/10

One of the best buffy episodes, perhaps even the best!
I felt that season 5 had the best build up to a finale. No other season had me wondering so much about how buffy would defeat the big bad (not even season 7). Yeah, it would have been good if buffy had killed ben rather than giles, but other than that, it was great.
It was the most exciting buffy finale, and i had tears streaming down my face when buffy died (even though i knew she was going to. I'd been able to avoid spoilers until TWO weeks before the last episode. GRRRRRR).

This will always be my most favorite episode in the whole series.
The "Previuosly..." opening sequence is just brilliant! Starting form the firsts episode and ending with 99th episode was a very unique way to celebrate 100 episodes.
Also, the simply opening with Buffy slaying a regular vampire was also very well made, reminding us what the show is about.
The first part of the episode was kind of slow but the final fight with Buffy's scarifies was worth the waiting. It must've been the most dramatic development in the series when Buffy decided to die to save the world, yet again.
Excellent episode, in every aspect! 10/10!

Awesome episode. Part of me wishes it was left there. Giles killing Ben was my fav moment in this. Spike's loss against Doc was frustratingly easy, but the reaction to Buffy's death forces you to forget it. Giving Xander a little something to do was nice. His proposal was fitting and welcome (shame they fooked it up next year lol) Buffy's death was set up brilliantly throughout the season to this point. I think it remains the best structured season; most likely because it went to plan pretty well. (season 4 for instance was disrupted by lindsey crouse having to leave. That ruined a lot of the suspense for the season with what had to be altered) Second best season finale behind "Bargaining"
10/10

This is one of my favourite episodes! Buffy's sacrifice! Ben/Glory killed by Giles! Spike's mini-speech to Buffy "I may be a monster, but you treat me like a man". This is one of the best episodes of Buffy! A few tears came to my eye the first time I saw it. Excellent episode! 10/10

That's one of my favorite too! And I agree 100% with you, hitnrun017, Buffy's speech to Giles , in the training room, is so touching! And the sacrifice always makes me cry...The first time I saw the episode, with my little sister, I started to cry and my step-mom came in the living-room, looked at me and said " What's wrong?" and I said " Buffy was dead ". She looked at me and said " Oh, that's fine, she'll come back anyway!"
I am not that bothered by Giles killing Ben...I think it's perfectly justified by the fact Glory took back her "Human" form as Ben, and Buffy wouldn't kill a human being...What would be the point of the fall out between her and Faith in season 3 then? That wouldn't make sense for Buffy to kill a human then...

This is the episode that cemented my fandom in the Buffyverse. There has never been an episode of television that has touched me so deeply, and I doubt there ever will be again! Let's remember Buffy's sacrifice tonight by watching "The Gift"--I know I will be!

THE GIFT The Good; The final battle especially the bait and switch with the Buffybot and the Dawn/Buffy scene at the end. Also like the way Buffy casually announces to the gang she killed a vampire and they treat it like no big deal. Love the Scooby strategising session and Anya's gameshow hostess introduction of the troll hammer. Best ever Minion toadying 'Oh groovetastic one' and 'Oh sweaty naughty feelings causing one'. The Bad; Doesn't anyone notice Glory's tower? Since when was Olaf a troll 'god'? Some of the minion makeup doesn't look so good, one rather looks like Michael Myers from the Halloween series. WHY NO COMMENTARY? Especially as this could have been the last ever Buffy ep Attachments:
