Source: www.poeghostal.com/2013/12/firefly-confirmed-for-funko-legacy-6-line-and-reaction-as-well.htmlPlease note everyone that these highly-detailed Firefly figures from Funko are coming in LATE 2014! Do not mistake them for what is coming in prior to then: In spring 2014, Funko will be releasing some smaller, non-detailed figures that are intentionally designed to look like crap - meant to evoke 1970s style of figures. So, ignore the crap ones coming this Spring and wait for the Legacy figures coming later in 2014. The Legacy figures may truly be amazing. First teaser images of this Legacy line will be seen during the February 2014 New York ToyFair. And if you haven't seen the Star Wars 6" Black Series figures that Funko says is close to what they have planned, google them - the detail is amazing. If Funko even comes close to making Firefly figures as detailed as those, we'll have something amazing.

Oh, and start saving up your money, since Star Wars Black Series 6" figures usually run - at best - $80 for a set of four, but are more typically closer to $30 each. And that's for Star Wars, a line that can be priced lower than what Firefly will need to be priced at in order to recoup costs. Firefly Legacy figures will have to be $25 to $30 each - and hopefully they will be worth it!

I'll be the dumb guy and ask this question, what the hell is ReAction figure? I know what them POP figurines are, but never heard of this. The Firefly/Serenity Legacy line in 6" - well if you bought the license you'd better put it to good use. I'm with the guy on the site is saying, I believe it when I see it and then I look at the quality of the final product.
I don't collect POP figurines - Not in my taste, but I'd like some of the old toy lines to be resurrected.

I'll be the dumb guy and ask this question, what the hell is ReAction figure? I know what them POP figurines are, but never heard of this. ReAction is Funko's line of smaller, non-detailed figures designed to look similar to the detail-less, articulation-poor figures that were made in the 1970s (before action figures were any good). They are supposed to be appealing in a retro "so bad it's good" kind of way - a poorly made figure with no likeness of the actor or character, slapped on a cheap cardboard backing card. Personally I think the ReVision line is absolutely horrid (just google for some of the pics of the Alien ReVision figures), which is why I am glad that Funko will be making an impressive line of detailed 6" Legacy figures for Firefly later in 2014.

Yes, and here's the bad news.. Firefly will also get POP and ReAction (vintage Kenner SW-style) figures in the spring. Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be getting ReAction figures as well.
So, I guess those will be the crappy undetailed 6 inch figures..

Yes. But I'm hoping that at Toy Fair in Feb, they will announce that Buffy will also be getting the Legacy treatment. Just a hope. They aren't saying that yet.

Can I dream that they will get the Deluxe Buffy Figure molds from DST and make Buffy Legacy figures starting with Tough Love Willow?

Can I dream that they will get the Deluxe Buffy Figure molds from DST and make Buffy Legacy figures starting with Tough Love Willow? I am pretty sure we can all dream that one together. lol. I am still hoping either DST starts to actually USE the Buffy license again or sells it to a company that will. With Buffy being widely talked about lately since SMG landed a role on The Crazy Ones and her talking about BtVS over twitter constantly, S10 comics coming out soon, and all the reruns on TV lately...Buffy is gaining new fans everywhere. I don't understand why they won't work on new projects.

Agreed, the Game of Thrones figures from Funko's Legacy line look good. The Buffy figure from the purposefully-crappy ReAction line looks as bad as expected (and resembles Harmony, sort of).

In my honest opinon I can strongly say "What a waste of potential and money." Based on the ReAction images for Predator and The Terminator, the reason why those toy line figures were so popular where because of NECA and their ability to make them extrodinarly detailed and realistic. The Sarah Connor they released compaired to the one pictured seem so juvenile. The same can be said with the Predator. I can honestly say I'm happy Buffy got picked, but I'm extremely terrified of the final production release. These are figures based on LIVE characters versus animated cartoon looking characters. I'm not expecting much based on what they did with Sarah Connor for the Buffy line. It's like expecting an April O'nell head (retro TMNT) and saying it's Willow. The last time I went to Toys R Us I saw one of the new Star Wars figure and I couldn't recall if it was from the Black n White or Legacy collection, but the female figure was awesomely detailed. The only off putting thing was the price tag and it was like $30 for 1 figure. Too bad my funds where reserved for the Green/White Ranger Morpher.

Thanks CraigO for posting, I've been waiting to see these and they sure don't disappoint. I can't wait, will probably pre-order a case from Big Bad Toy Store or who ever has them cheaper. But sense it's Funko it's going to be around $19.99 each. I will probably pick up a loose Zoe for a Jasmine custom figure.

Update: promo pictures showing Mal with his coat on properly and Kaylee with her hairline lowered, which if accurate helps the likenesses a lot.

Wash is brilliant! Nice likeness, his clothes successfully look baggy rather than fat, and great accessories I don't think the quality from Funko is as high as other toy companies, but I'm really glad to see these regardless. Mal is also really nice, just succumbs to the awkward looking coat that any articulated figure does around the neck and shoulders. The other three; I love the headsculpts on Zoe and Jayne, I think more than the equivalent ones from DST (cancelled Zoe statue didn't look like Gina at all, in my opinion) but Kaylee is terrible in my eyes - DST nailed it for Stargate Atlantis, and I might look into getting a shrunken cast of that one and headswapping it with the Funko body. Also I think Zoe and Kaylee's arms definitely seem to have a 'touch of the Freds' - the forearms look really bloody long to me. Zoe also seems a little bit wide to me too. Really love the packaging! I hope these do well and the second wave gets released, if not at least we still have fairly stellar River and Inara statues. I'll probably pick them all up, and just make a few amendments here and there EDIT: Whoops, missed your second post Craig. Kaylee does look a lot better there, as does the guys, but the likeness to Zoe is lost a fair amount in the promotional photos. I'm undecided if I'd prefer that. The promotional photos do look like earlier concepts - digitially painted early sculpts I would say... The Jayne avec hat is awesome, I definitely want that.

Well, by "late 2014" they apparently meant June 2015, because they're out! I got Mal and Kaylee at my local Forbidden Planet this afternoon - they have the whole line of five. Mal has the coat riding up issue, helped by pulling it down. I suspect cutting a bit around the sleeves will fix it. Kaylee's hair is attached too high, like the preview figures rather than the 'fixed' promo pictures. So I'll probably take it off and move it. Scale comparison with the first non-customised Buffy figure I had handy, MAC Giles, Mal looks a bit small next to him. I'll see how he looks compared to MAC and DST's Buffy and Angel later... Otherwise, this was going to be a generally positive review... ... until Mal's left hand tore off with very slight positioning five minutes after I opened the box. Looks like I was turning his hand rather than the articulation point at his wrist, but I wasn't doing it that much. I'm just relieved I managed not to do it with his right hand while putting his pistol in place. So, yeah, slightly less sure about buying the rest of the line now.

I found the five of them at an independent comic store for the not insignificant price of £19.99 a shot, but I got excited and impulse bought (yeah, I know fine well I can get them cheaper later on). It was a toss up between Zoe and Wash and I only had enough for one, therefore: "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal" Wash has brilliant articulation, and it really puts DST's efforts to shame. His face has an amazingly good likeness to Alan as he looks now but is definitely less round than he was in Firefly. The dinosaurs are very cool (though a pain to get him to hold the Stegosaurus) and his elbow joints in particular are nicely done. I was careful re: his hands thanks to CraigO's post above - I couldn't get his right wrist to swivel and so left it for now - but I do think this figure is generally stellar. Of course the prints on his shirt are really detailed too which balances the sheer mass of solid matt green. The boxes are really bloody nice, and the shop assistant even pointed out how pretty they were too as they were featured prominently on the 'New this week' section! I passed over Mal and Jayne fairly quickly as I have their DST Serenity counterparts (albeit in a storage box, 270 miles away) and did not reckon much to Kaylee at all. Zoe and Wash have brilliant likenesses, I have to say, especially when you remember what that (ultimately cancelled) Zoe statue looked like from DST. Can't wait to see the next four (and potential fifth?) figures. As for Kaylee, I'll wait til I can find one for <£10 and customise it - I shall seek out a shrunken head cast of the generally nicely done Stargate Atlantis figure she has and try and headswap, maybe.

I hear breakages are pretty common, and that hot water (as you'd use to separate parts to make a custom) can loosen the joints a bit. I'm glad my warning helped keep Wash safe!
I'm planning on moving Kaylee's hair once I have Mal's wrist fixed, and may repaint her, so we'll see how well the likeness works. (And if it's still not great I might get a Stargate cast too!)
