Oh My Gosh!!! I really hope this happens though I don't think Sarah would come back as Buffy and a lot of the other stars already are doing other projects, but I hope they would do it.

I was thinking about this the other day while reading a new vampire show on HBO. With the success of that and twilight, buffy should come back, at-least for a TV event

I really don't see this happening. It would be great if it did, but remember what happened when Sex and the City came out and did well at the box office? Every site was saying that a Friends movie was happening, but days later every cast member's agent said the rumor was false.

Hope it will happen even without Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I'm shocked that Twilight is so popular, since it doesn't hold a candle to Buffy. It seems like Buffy would do much better. But then if people really love the Twilight movie, they might not be able to appreciate Buffy with its higher quality production values, sophisticated writing, ironic humor, and excellent acting.

I don't think we can put Buffy and Twilight in the same page, maybe we can put Lost boys and Buffy in the same but Twilight, nothing in common.

Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Fran Rubel Kuzui is looking into doing a remake or relaunch of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer - WITHOUT JOSS WHEDON: www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i666afabc28491e6a5d5861d83ae30855Not sure how I feel about that. Well, I know I have no interest in a "remake" of Buffy (either the original movie or the TVseries), but I would be mildly interested if they're actually planning on making a series of "Vampire Slayer" films exploring other "Chosen Ones" who were the Slayer before and possibly even after Buffy (which may contradict with Whedon's Buffy canon). Cheers.

No Joss Whedon, no connection to the TV series, no popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike....no thank you

If Joss isn't doing it I don't have an interest, Buffy isn't Buffy without Joss.

WHAT? I mean.. WHAT?
NO JOSS, NO BUFFY, NO WILLOW, XANDER OR ANY OTHER? Nice try (NOT), so thanks but no thanks.
What are they thinking? Who is going to be drawn to THIS? Certainly not even the die hard fans like us!
I prefer nothing over this! I'd prefer having Buffy's end on season 7 and the season 8 comics than a crap movie that would spoil 10 years of Buffy-amazement.

This is like epic fail!!! The fan backlash alone will kill this. Don't they understand that probably 90 to 95% of Whedon fans will not turn out to see this.

My, my, this little article is really picking up steam. Its made it onto the Yahoo front-page. Oh, dear lord... I surely hope something stops this potential catastrophe, or even better (way better), that they come to an agreement with Joss and the original series cast to make what we've always dreamed of.

I just found an interview with Anthony Head about this: 'With his appearances on Doctor Who and Little Britain, Head says he’s been lucky enough to have four or five iconic English shows under his belt — “What I always find fascinating is I am all things to all men” — but in America, where he has a home in Los Angeles, he’ll always be famous for playing Sarah Michelle Gellar’s sage mentor on Buffy. “Every time I think, ‘Well, everybody must have forgotten it by now,’ there’s a whole new audience. Young kids coming up to me and saying, ‘I love Buffy!’ ” And being so close to the series, which lasted for seven seasons (1997-2003), he understands why there’s been so much fan outrage this week when it was announced that Fran Rubel Kuzui, the director of the original 1992 Buffy movie starring Kristy Swanson, and her husband Kaz were working on a new film without the involvement of series creator Joss Whedon (who also wrote the original movie’s first script).
Doing a Buffy movie without Whedon? “I wouldn’t want to see it, no,” Head admits. “The Kuzuis didn’t do a great job on the movie the first time around. It was Joss’ script at the age of 19, but they changed a lot of it. They said, ‘Look, we know best and we know how to make this movie,’ and it became quite schlocky and high camp.” Head recalls the time when he went to audition for the Buffy series because he loved Whedon’s pilot script so much, and his agent advised him to watch the movie to get the tone of the show before his screen test. “So I did and I went, ‘Oh, that’s not it at all.’ I went in and saw Joss and said, ‘I watched the movie last night!’ And he went, ‘Oh. Did ya?’ I just put it out of my mind. The bottom line is if a movie was ever to be made, it should be made with Joss Whedon, whether it’s a retrospective or not. But it would be madness to do it without him. [The Kuzuis] have the rights to because they have the rights to the original movie, but it should be interesting to see. It may be a bit like watching a car wreck.”'Link: blogs.usaweekend.com/whos_news/2009/05/anthony-head-on-invisibles-merlin-and-a-possible-buffy-movie.htmlGotta love Tony for that. It's great to see that someone actually interviewed a Buffy original cast member about this. I'm glad it's not only the fans who are upset, it's also the actors that aren't happy with it.

Yeah, i'm glad someone high profile (in terms of the show) voiced the fans general opinion on this. I'm still in disbelief they think this could work without Joss. Its quite hilarious :/

If they seriously think that the fans will back them on something they're terribly mistaken. After their first massacre of a Buffy movie and they want to do another one? Ugh... Quite sincerely it's just crap.
