lol. Please don't go there. At least the difference in bulkiness with help make Angel look bigger. When you see them on the screen together it looks a heck of a lot more than a 2" height difference. Maybe it's the camera playing odd tricks, maybe it's that some male stars under 6' tall exaggerate their height by a couple inches. Who knows.

Yeah, I would think SPike is * at least* 4" shorter or more. He always looked to be only slightly taller than the elfin Buffy. :-)
I'd think there would be some way to make him shorter - especially since they are using different parts. I mean heck, a little bit off the neck, off the torso - that would do it. Not sure why they don't try that?
Regardless, I'll get them all being a completist - tho for now not totally sold on the bloody variants. Or maybe the non-bloody variants, since when I think fo that battle they are always bloody in my mind.

I'm not really bothered by scale. I actually wish DST made all the figures without paying too close attention to the actors height. I'd rather all the male figures be about the same height (except for of course, the midget Oz) than have a giant Angel towering over a too short Spike (see the DST regular figure releases). And Dawn being so tall is annoying compared to Buffy...even if it make sense compared to the heights of SMG and MT.

Great review, Michael, as always!
I'm really impressed by Spike's head sculpture...the attitude is amazing!
Both look very nice in usual forum but with the jackets off they seem a little strange.

It would make sense to have some of the figures to not have quite a height difference. Because onscreen, actresses wear heals, plus camera angles make it so characters don't seem to be that different from each other. So although the height difference between Buffy and Dawn is correct, it still looks a little off.

Thanks for confirming Michael.
Somewhat O/T, but watched Detsiny the other night and realised how "off" these figures are. The most glaring isssue is Spike's short sleeves which are seen in the episode when he removes his jacket to get busy with Harmony and they clearly come to his mid-bicep and are fitted not flared.
Furthermore, in the actual fight scene (on which the figures are presumably based), Angel's shirt becomes un-tucked very early on and before he "vamps out" and by the time they both "vamp out" they're both very bloody (making the vamped out, but non-bloody figures inaccurate).
Not to mention the fact that they are "vamped out" for approximately 5% of the entire fight scene and the rest of the time they are human faced. And Angels' shirt is less obviously "striped" in the episode.
Probably all minor things, but still a tad annoying.
Cheers, Haeph.

Wow!
They both look awesome IMO...
I like the look of Spikes shirt...they did a great job there....well, aside from the short sleeves in a different finish!
I think I will grab this Spike....not sure about Angel.

The only think that bothers me about this, there isn't an angel with human face and black coat again, i believe that Dst will release a one like that finally but i was wrong. I think the variants of Buffy and Faith are more rich than Angel and Spike, i think that an old fashion Angel and a hawaiian Angel, it isn't very interesting at all. The buffy variants were more interesting than this.
It can't be possible, since Illyria is in the same size of Spike and Angel is taller than Illyria.
David is 6' 1" (1.85 m)
James Marsters 5' 11" (1.80 m)

MasterP, if you want a human Angel with long coat, you can do what I am going to do. Get the 50's Angel and put Destiny Spikes long coat on him. You can do the same if you want a regular Spike in long coat. It's the only reason I am getting them all.

Again, 2" is only 1/6" in 1/12 scale, which is a pretty minor difference. Then again, perhaps he really is closer to 5' 9", which would be a third of an inch different in this scale, and more noticable. Of course, James doesn't say that

To be honest, I don't really care if they are exact to the actor's height or not as long as they look good. DST did two different sculpts, just like the first line, then made the varients from various parts so that they could give us what we asked for and still keep the price point down. I can't see the big issue with the height.

Thanks for the review! I am definitely getting some of the Spikes. I'm hoping for more of these Deluxe figures that are a definite improvement over previous figure releases.

I lied! Okay, not lied, since I didn't actually realize...I'm an idiot! Angel does have the half foot joint, it simply doesn't move at all. I am putting together a review of the Hawaiin pair this week, and noticed it as I was working with him. It's there, but it doesn't do squat.
Expect that review tomorrow!

If you could get a shot of them with the deluxe Buffy or Faith figures, that would be great!

Thanks Michael.
Great to hear that Angel has the foot joint. Hopefully the non-working issue is fixed before the main release (though I note my Vampire Buffy suffers from even worse pigeon toe syndrome than your own, so sadly that wasn't looked at by DST).
Looking forward to the new deluxe Spike and Angel review too!
Cheers, Haeph.

If you could get a shot of them with the deluxe Buffy or Faith figures, that would be great! Unfortunately, they're boxed up, and I've been having trouble locating them...I'll check again tonight though. sorry but will u be doing reviews for the rest of the buffy dawn line? Nope, what you saw is what I picked up from that series. And yes Firerancher, I do love what I do! Thanks! Michael MWC
