Too expensive. I'd rather save my money and buy real screen-used props in the $50-$250 range, than spend $50-$120 on these replicas. Some sample prices for screen-used real props/wardrobe from reputable recent sales or prop store listings:
Ubervamp upper teeth from Buffy finale: $95 UC Sunnydale sweats or shorts: $40-$90 Hellions demon biker patch from Buffy 6x01-6x02: $165 Mark of Keklorum Dagger from Angel: $106 One of Giles' demon research books: $250 Book from Sunnydale library: $76 Angel's pants: $200 Xander's pants: $136 Giles' crystal from Buffy 3x12: $151 Skip's full-head mask from Angel: $350 Jambiya dagger from Angel 5x03:$75 Magic Box potion vial from Buffy: $50-$130 Misc. Vampire prosthetics: $50-$170 Mohra demon face w/jewel from Angel/Buffy crossover: $199 Tara worn pendant from Buffy: $137
In other words, for the price of 1 or 2 replicas you can get a nice screen-used item from a reputable source. The pricing on most of these replicas is unappealing...

I am going to buy this book. And I'm already planning on using carbon paper to transfer and later ink spells and such that Willow and others reference and use on the show. I think it will look SO GREAT when it is finished. Plus I want to age the pages, if they are not already.

Those figures were final prices from recent eBay sales by vipfanclubs (the official seller for Fox studios), philippes, or others known to be reputable, or current listings on some reputable prop house websites. I've taken to collecting a few small screen-used items for display, and there are *always* interesting items for sale from reputable sources. That's why I haven't ordered any prop replicas since the Scythe--every time I have the money, there's a nice real prop I'd rather buy.
You can't buy anything major from a Whedonverse show for less than $300-$500 and up, but there are many lesser-but-nice items found for $50-$250. Among my favorites I bought are the Hellions demon biker patch which Tara put an axe through in Buffy 6x02: "Tara, nice axeing!" "Uh-huh, my first." Also, the dagger handled by Wes, Angel, and Cordy in Angel 1x14, a used vamp facial prosthetic of a style worn by Harmony (no way to know if it was used by her or someone else, unfortunately), a pair of Gavrok spiders (they only made 4 complete, IIRC) from Buffy 3x19, and a handwritten partial first draft of Firefly 1x05 in Joss' own longhand.
I also collect non-Whedonverse stuff, too. Some of my favorites there are one of Dr. Greene's labcoats from ER, a High Guard uniform from Andromeda, and some of Eliza Dushku's wardrobe from a promo photoshoot for Tru Calling.
So to me a $90 MSRP for a plain empty book replica seems too high, when just a little more can get a real prop. I'd rather save that money until it's enough to get a small but real chunk of the Whedonverse. But that's just MHO...

vipfanclubs...thanks. I'll keep a look out for cool Buffyverse items.
I saw that dagger you won. That's a really nice prop. The spiders sound pretty cool, too.

Our orders were cancelled ... along with that of Mr. Pointy. Don't know if they'll be resoliciting them because they've been delayed or if they're not going to produce them. I'll have to call them next week and ask and failing that, we'll ask again in NYC at Toy Fair. Stay tuned folks...doesn't look good.

I'm kind of glad that Mr. Pointy isn't being released though. One stake has already been released, and I'm guessing it didn't sell all that well, so I don't think releasing another stake would be a good idea. I'm pretty bummed about the Darkest Magic book though. What about the Urn of Osiris? I hope it's still being made.

So the props STILL have not arrived yet. Isn't Anyankas Amulet suppose to come out this month? WTF?

Anyanka's Amulet is not being produced by DST but from another company. That company will still be releasing the Amulet as it is due to ship soon.

I received an email from Cinequest late last week. They were told by Diamond that the Darkest Magic Book was cancelled, and that the release of Mr. Pointy was being delayed to resolicit orders. Sounds to me like Diamond wasn't happy with preorders and if they don't get more this time, that may be cancelled as well.
To be honest, while I liked the display case I wasn't thrilled with the release of Mr. Pointy since they already did a previous prop stake. I'm little more bummed about the cancellation of the book. I'm just hoping some of the props are actually released this year.

I think that the display case is what could've made the props more expensive. With such props as Mr. Pointy it might be better for a wall mount, that probably would've brought the costs down and it is easier for people to dispaly them as it wouldn't have taken up a lot of room. I know that I am slowly running out of room for all of my stuff and with so many cases with props in them I wouldn't have enough room for them all. I just hope that Faith's Jackal Knife still gets approved and released and has a wall mount. That is the prop that I am really looking forward to. I really liked the Dark Magicks book, I am just disapointed that it is not going to be released.

So does this mean the props are in fact canceled? I'm really looking forward to the book!

The Darkest Magicks book is definitely cancelled. Just got the world from Diamond today. Mr. Pointy is also cancelled but is still going to be solicited in the spring...so I have no idea what the heck that means. I don't think they know either.
