Chase = Intentionally limited with the intent of making you travel from store to store to "chase" after that one figure.
Shortpacked = Not as rare as the chase figure, but not as many in the case as other figures.
Willow Wave: Transformation Willow was shortpacked at 2 per case.
Anya/Tara Wave: Hush Tara was the 1 per case chase.
Spike/Darla Wave: Season 2 Darla/Reunion Darla each shortpacked at 2 per case.
Wesley/Lorne: NPLPG Lorne is the 1 per case chase.

The Buffy Collector Club had the best deal on NPLPG Lorne, in a pack with regular Lorne and season 4 Wesley for $35.99, but they've sold out.
I think this is going to be a tough figure to get. It sucks because it's an awesome figure. One of the best they've done. I got one from SDCC. Now I'm really happy that I did. They told me he was short-packed at that time.

$30, really?
I preordered him at Corner Store Comics for $12.99. $30 does seem a bit much, but Cinequest's prices are always a bit high to me.

I checked and Corner Store Comics is already sold out of NPLPG Lorne, as both an individual figure and in sets. I don't think that retailers knew just how limited this figure would be. It's really too bad. This figure is much more representative of Lorne's colorful clothes than the other one.
You can still get him in a set with season 4 Wesley and regular Lorne on ebay for $45. It's not a great price, since BCC has Wesley for $9.99 and regular Lorne for $11.99. That puts NPLPG Lorne at $23. But it's a bit better than Cinequest's $30 for NPLPG Lorne alone.

After preordering him and not getting him from 2 places I ordered him from CornerStoreComics - but after a week of not being charged I e-mailed them and here was their response: Unfortunately many retailers are ending up in the same situation thanks to the case packouts from DST. They only put one Plrtz Glrb Lorne in each case, which is usually not a problem, except for the fact that they didn't bother to tell the retailers they were going to do it that way beforehand. When we know there are shortpacks, we adjust saleable quantities to fit expected supply. That way nobody gets shafted when the product arrives. All of our Plrtz Glrbs from our initial shipment had to be allocated to sets (as it is our standard policy to fill orders for cases & sets first, then single figures in the order received.) We are trying to get more Plrtz Glrbs to fill the single figure orders, but it is too soon to tell whether we will be able to make that happen. We apologize for any inconvenience. We recommend letting DST know how you feel about shortpacking figures without telling the retailers about it. Thanks, Thomas CornerStoreComics This really makes me mad. So here I am trying a fourth place hoping that once again I can get one. And I have no where to go to buy one because not one place where I live sells Buffy or Angel stuff. Hush Tara was not this bad - I've got two of her. They really should have let those retailers know so that they could have stoped pre-orders earlier so people like me didn't miss out because we thought we were already getting one.

I got mine the day they were shipped to comic shops. It took me months to get Hush Tara.
I dont know how retailers didnt know he was going to be a chase when we've all known for quite some time.

Towerrecords.com has the chase Lorne in stock, at $11.99.
Never had a problem with an order from them.

Towerrecords.com has the chase Lorne in stock, at $11.99. Thanks for the heads up! I went to Tower.com as soon as I saw this post and ordered one with a "Waiting in the Wings" Wesley! I just went back to order another one for someone else and the red "No place.." Lorne is now gone! Is that a record or something?

Chase / shortpacked figures fucking suck. Too bad that's the only Lorne I wanted. Maybe DST will sell a set of figures with NPLPG Lorne. BTW, Tower is (apparently) now sold out

WOOO HOOO! I finally got him. He's in the mail as I type. And I didn't have to pay a ridiculous amount either. 11.99 + 3 shipping. I'm so excited. He'll probably be the first one I get even though I just ordered him and the others have been pre-ordered forever. But whatcha gonna do?

Just a point of clarification - generally a figure that is packed in every case is not a chase figure. If he or she is one per, that's a shortpack.
Chase is a term that came about due to figures like the old 1701 Picard or the more recent Marvel Legends figures that were not in every case, but packed randomly in only a few cases. These much lower production figures got the name 'chase' for the above mentioned reasons.

Here's another point of clarification. As a retailer, WE knew that the Lorne was short packed. It was pretty much known from the beginning that there was only going to be 1 per case. The question, of course, was whether they'd change that and put 2 per case like they did with Reunion Darla. Of course, the problem for any retailer is if you want more of NPLPG Lorne, you have to buy more Wes and Lorne.

I don't see the need for shortpacks in this line. I think just about everybody buys every figure, so what's the point? Pissing people off?

Well I guess it keeps DST running. not every one buys all the figures so they put the cooler, more desired figures as the chase/shortpacked so poeple have to spend more money which is going to DST, But it does make too much of a hastle.
