To those asking about Toyfare ordering/getting ahold of this great fig via the Magazine, Once he's availbale for pre-order, I believe you can order through the Wizard site, www.wizarduniverse.com; but priority goes to subscribers, and they usually get more than one to ensure they have one for themselves as well as others for ebay, gifts, friends without subscriptions, etc. So I recommned getting a subscription to the magazine (which is really, really fun) or get a friend who does to order one for you. Problem is, there is no guarantee, Wizard has been known to run out of high-demand figures and have to re-send checks. Best bet is to send the check via priority mail the day the magazine with the order form arrives. Hope this helps ya'all out! Check out www.action-figure.com for more detailed news (including accessory lists) on all the exclusives.

I hope this toyfare thing isn't going to be a problem. He would look wicked cool with a duster on too.

Official information: Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC is teaming up with Wizard Entertainment’s ToyFare: The Toy Magazine to create an exclusive action figure based on one of the most popular characters from the hit TV shows Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the Angel: “Fool for Love” Spike Action Figure. “We are very excited by our Spike figure from Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles,” said Wizard Entertainment Product Manager Gabriel Fieramosco. “I saw the prototype recently and can’t wait to get one myself. After the huge success we had with Vampire Willow, I am sure fans are going to love this one.”
Designed by Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (who also produced the figure) and Gentle Giant Studios (who also sculpted the figure), and offered exclusively via the pages of ToyFare and Wizard Entertainment’s online shopping destination – www.wizarduniverse.com – the figure depicts the vampire anti-hero (portrayed by actor James Marsters) with his punk rock look from the fifth season episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Standing approximately 6” tall, this figure – which is scheduled to be released in late January – comes with 11 points of articulation; as well as a metal pipe, a Zippo® lighter, a cross with an altar, a round bottle, and a square bottle. “Fans have been very anxious to get their hands on this action figure, which is based on the much-lauded episode that, among other things, revealed how Spike won his trademark leather jacket by killing the slayer, Nikki, in the 1970s,” said Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles Marketing and Sales Coordinator Scott Braden. “With this all-new figure release from Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles and ToyFare, we’re going to grant them their wish!”
-CMK

Do I understand this right? The only way to preorder this figure is to get a subscription to the magazine?

Do I understand this right? The only way to preorder this figure is to get a subscription to the magazine? Yes and no. The only way to gauruntee that you'll get one is to subscribe. If there are figures left after all the subscription pre-offers are filled, then they'll fill orders from people who sent in the coupon from the magazine. They did the same thing with the DC Direct Jason Todd Hush figure. I'm actually glad they had the subscription pre-offer, becuase it finally got me to subscribe to Toyfare, which will save me a lot of money over the course of the year since I buy it anyway. About $32, actually. I've been reading Toyfare since it started, but this offer is what finally convinced me to subscribe.

Well, that sucks! I was planning on getting one for me and one for my friend for Christmas. I can't do that unless I get two subscriptions for a magazine that I don't even read.

Thanks cosmicspidey, Can we buy just the one issue that has the coupon? Will that issue be in stores or are the coupons just sent to subscribers of the magazine?

You can still pick up the issue with Fool for Love Spike in it and send in the coupon.
If you're going to do that, though, make sure you send in the coupon ASAP after you get it, since there is no guarantee that this figure will not sell out first. The only way to absolutely guarantee a boxed Fool For Love Spike is to pre-order through wizarduniverse.com along with a subscription to Toyfare. The carded version will be available on DST"s site and I'm sure both versions will show up on eBay (with a price increase, no doubt).
I anticipate this figure being one of the most hard to find figures of the Spike/Darla wave since EVERYONE seems to want this one the most. The subscription purchase may not be the best deal, but it will guarantee you get one.
Personally, I'm waiting for the issue to come out. I'll buy one through Toyfare (to get the boxed version) and two through DST's online store (one to keep MOC and one to open).

Is the issue with the coupon in it out already? If so, what month is the issue?

I believe it is in the issue that hits stands today in the US (Thursday). Anyone get it yet?

This month's Toyfare (issue 87) has the Vampire Buffy PALz figure as it's exclusive.
Next month (issue 88) will have the Buffy/Angel Visual Price Guide and I THINK it will have the Fool For Love Spike offer.

Apologies if this info is posted elsewhere.
How much is the ToyFare preorder? I'm asking because I got an email from Wizard soliciting guaranteed preorders for him for $50, and I can tell you I sure wasn't planning to spend that on one figure.

But really thats not just for the figure. You are gettin a year subscription to ToyFare Magazine too. They break it down on the website. Spike, himself, is only $20sum.

Spike is $21 (including shipping), the subscription is $28. You get two separate charges, so don't freak if you see two on your credit card statement. Here's what the ad from the issue of Toyfare that just came out says about "Fool for Love" Spike: "Only at Wizarduniverse.com" "This offer will only be open while supplies last @ wizarduniverse.com" So I guess there won't be a coupon. You'll have to order a sub to get the Spike. Unless they're just being really misleading.

i think they mean that RIGHT NOW you can only get him at Wizard Universe.com. I don't think Toyfare has ever had an exclusive that you could ONLY get online.

"Only at Wizarduniverse.com" "This offer will only be open while supplies last @ wizarduniverse.com" I believe what they mean by that is that wizarduniverse is the only online store you can him at. That and there is a relatively small allotment of the total figure for online sales, so you need to act fast.
