I'm one of those crazy people who didn't watch Buffy or Angel when they were airing new episodes. I'm catching up through the DVD sets, and I'm probably pretty far behind all of you guys (s5 Buffy). So when I look at the Angel figures, I look first of all for the characters I know, like Spike and Darla. For the characters I don't know yet, I look at the figures themselves, 'cause I know the cool ones won't be as easy to get by the time I catch up on the shows. The Fred figure looks pretty boring to me, but Illyara (not the Shells one, the other one, in the suit) is just cool-looking, and I'm going to be picking one up even though I only have a vague idea of who she is. I've got to say though, I really am kind of underwhelmed by the Angel figures. A nice, boring non-vamped Angel in plain black would've been nice.

I was kind of underwhelmed too, with the exception of the fully-suited Illyria, who looks utterly amazing. The face sculpts looks great -- the little smirk thing on The Ring Angel is particularly growing on me. And I really like the concept behind the arrow wound figure (though I've heard in person the face is SUPER shiny -- I hope they tone that down some). To me the Fred and Shells Illyria figures look really rough, though. Like they're boxy quick sculpts before the final shaping, if that makes sense. I'm thinking of the legs and shoulders in particular. They feel more like mass-market toys to me, where the old MAC sculpts had more of a sculpture look to them -- more character in the poses. Don't get me wrong -- I love having figures who don't need a special huge grass stand to be able to stay upright, but I've found with the recent DST releases the posing possibilities are still sort of limited. So why not have at least a little more character/polish in the poses to begin with? I also think their articulation looks bulkier somehow. Like it's rounding out the elbows more than MAC did. (Though maybe it's for stability of the joint? I know I've had some MAC arms drop apart on me.) I also hope they do something about the way Angel's head joins to his body. Maybe it's just the angle of the pictures I've seen, but he looks awkward, like his head is sort of craned up or not joined properly to his neck or...something. I'm not sure. They're growing on me, though, and I'll still be buying some of them, for all of the above nit-picking.

Stop wasting time online and get caught up on those DVDs! Being at sites like this will only spoil all of the surprises to come.

I'm tired of the black pants on all the male figures. Getting real old really fast. I'd prefer some kind of color wash to give a subtle hue to the black, even if it wasn't entirely accurate.
(And, do all the guys on the show really wear pants that are about ten inches too long?)

I'm underwhelmed. I'm not excited about the Angel line at all, not at all like I thought I would be. I really, really wanted a new Angel. Now that we have all these Angels coming, well none of the variants interest me at all. The two shirtless ones look very cartoony, with the broad shoulders, ( I know David's shoulders are very broad, but these two just look off) and the others aren't...well they are'nt Angel. I just wanted a plain, everyday looking Angel. Basically an Angel in all black. Yeah sure it sounds plain, and boring, but hey, that was Angel. I will probably buy a couple Angels and do some paint jobs and some head swaps. Which is what I didnt think I was going to have to do. Can't always get what you want though. Fred, well, I don't really collect every Buffy/Angel fig., so I don't care how many variants she has, but the regular Fred doesn't interest me at all. Illyria is awesome, I will get that one and hope for a better plain Fred in the future. Or I'll have to customize one. I am very happy about the Wes/Lorne line though. I'm only buying two of each, but the ROF Wes, the S4 Wes, the Vegas Lorne and the Pylea Lorne Rock! Can't wait to get em'!! -ExclusiveOz-

Only one Lorne is in black pants. And every Wes isn't in black pants, either. Angel has black pants on because it isn't as if he had the most colorful wardrobe on the planet.

They could add grass stains on the knees of the Angel: Pylia Demon figure.

I think they are doing great with these figures. I can't wait until they come out, and they announce the next line.

My buying of the figures has changed greatly since DST took over the lines: Willow line: I got all of them except the Villians con exclusive Anya and Tara: All Anyas and 2 Taras (plus together forever) Angel 2: 3 spikes, 1 darla Angel 3: 1 lorne Angel 4: 1 illyria For me I like my two Angel's from the first Buffy line way more than the new ones, so it seems pointless in getting more. Plus none of the Wesley's do it for me. Still too bulky.

I'm underwhelmed with the choice for regular Fred's outfit. It just looks so ugly, especially those damn shoes! I'd rather have a Fred in a denim skirt or jeans, like she looked at the beginning of Season 3.

I am underwhelmed with this line, before I liked pretty much every figure and planned to get them all, but with this line there are just two that I'm positive I will buy (Illyria and Demon Angel). Hopefully the next line will put DST back on track with all knockouts.
