How cool is this?! Time & Space Toys is excited to announce an AMAZING Buffy / Angel giveaway promotion. In celebration of the successful launch of our new Buffy/Angel discount store, BuffyCollectorClub.com, we are giving away a truly ONE-OF-A-KIND Buffy collectible to one very lucky club member. Our very popular Limited Edition Willow's Spellbook Figure Set, which sold out in days, was limited to only 3000 pieces worldwide. Time & Space Toys has ONE set remaining, the very first factory sample, number “0” of 3000! To make this item even more special, we have arranged to have it personally signed by Buffy creator Joss Whedon himself! The result is a true one-of-kind rarety, a sure crown jewel in any Buffy figure collection! And Time & Space Toys is giving it away for FREE! The Joss Wedon-Signed Factory Sample Willow's Spellbook will be given away, by a random drawing, to one Buffy Collector Club member. The number drawn will correspond to a Club store order number. Club members who have already placed an order on the Club store are already in the running! If you are a new Club member, just hurry to make your first Club store order by February 17 to be eligible to win. If you are not yet a Club member, there is still time to join. Just follow the link below for info on joining. Keep in mind that when you join the Club, you will receive the second edition of the Buffy Figure Book Set, the Book of Vengeance Figure set for FREE. Then simply place your order (which saves you over 20% on Buffy/Angel pre-orders), and your order number is automatically placed in the random drawing for the Spellbook giveaway. INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING BY PLACING MULTIPLE ORDERS! To keep the contest fair, the random selection will be handled by the moderators of BTVSfigs, the Buffy Figure Forum (see link below). They will use a random number generator to select the winning number. Once the winning number is reported back to us, we will send the Joss Whedon-Signed Factory Sample Willow's Spellbook to the lucky winner! We will announce the winning order number in an email to the Club members. Deadline for qualifying club orders is 11:59 PM EST February 17th, 2005. Just place any order on the Club store between now and then and you are in the drawing! Note: Information comes from here.

i actually think this kinda sucks since i've already placed 4 orders with the buffy collector club and those 4 orders won't quailfy me for crap. It states that Club members who have already placed an order on the Club store are already in the running! So your previous orders do count. Woo Hoo, I've arleady entered 3 times. Man I want this sooo bad. I hardly ever enter the contests because I just don't feel like I want the items as badly as other people do. But something signed by Joss. I WANT that. I love the shows Buffy and Angel. But when it comes to the actors, I don't care that much about them outside of the Buffyverse world. But when it comes to Joss, what can I say, I just get all Fan-girly. /me eta: They are obviously reading these boards because the page has been updated to say "EVERY ORDER NUMBER PLACED SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE CLUB IS ENTERED IN THE DRAWING!" And I was wrong, I've already placed 4 orders. Now what else can I order in the next few days. hmmmmm...

I think this may actually be an illegal lottery under Pennsylvania law. T&ST won't allow you to enter the contest without making a purchase which is a form of gambling. Most stores run contests as "No Purchase Necessary" so they don't fall under that law. Any law student out there that can help?

So here is my 2 cents, incase something comes of this.
1st, they should see if they are allowed to have a giveaway exclusive to members, which I doubt. But if it is possible, just automattically give every member one entry.
2nd, if they have to open it up to everyone they should do it like most companies do, make it possible, but don't make it easy. What I mean by this is that I hate it when people enter contests the normal way, and then the person who wins is somebody who had way too much time on their hands sat at home and entered 1000 straight times on a web page. That's not fair to everyone envolved.
1) Have the other way of entering be writing by hand and mailing in an entry.
2) What we do at my work. Have a webpage that anybody can go to to enter. Allow only one entry per day or contest from each email address/phone number/person. Then those that entered will still have a greater chance of winning. Also to make it even more worthwhile to the members, make their orders count as 10 entries each or something. We also add a disclaimer with something to the effect that its one entry per PERSON and if you are found entering many times under multiple/fake email addresses/phone numbers then you may be disqualified.
Also of note most of these gaveaways then exclude people outside of the US and people under 18. There should also be a disclaimer that if you are under 18 you get your parents permission before joining and by entering you are saying that you received it. I'm not sure about the outside of the US thing.
With the hand written entrys, here is a visa giveaway official rules:
To enter without purchase or obligation: Hand-print your name, address, city, state, zip, day and evening phone numbers, and the words “Visa Bill Pay Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes” on a 3" x 5" card, and mail in a stamped #10 envelope to: Bill Pay Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 1282, South Bend, IN 46624-1282. There are fifty-nine (59) daily drawings from which you may choose to enter (1/1/05 – 2/28/05 ) and one (1) final Grand Prize drawing from all eligible, non-winning entries received throughout the Sweepstakes Period. Daily Grand Prize: Hand-print the date of the daily drawing for which the entry is being submitted on the outside of the envelope. The entry must be postmarked no later than the daily drawing date for which it is being submitted and received no later than seven (7) days thereafter. For example, to be entered in the daily drawing for 1/1/05, the words “January 1, 2005” must be hand-printed on the outside of the envelope, and the entry must be postmarked by 1/1/05 and received by 1/8/05. Final Grand Prize: To be entered in the drawing, mail-in entries must be postmarked no later than 2/28/05 and received by 3/7/05. To be considered for the Final Grand Prize drawing only, no date needs to be written on the outside of the envelope. Enter as often as you wish; however, only one entry per postmarked envelope will be accepted. No mechanical reproductions permitted. Entries become the property of Visa U.S.A. Inc. (“Sponsor”) and will not be returned.

lol, I read it, but i wasn't sure what inception meant.. Inception - an act, process, or instance of beginning ----------------------------------------------------------------------- As for the contest, it is a very cool prize to win. The Willow Spellbook is one of my favorite Buffy items out there and with Joss's autograph makes it even more special. I think I am going to have to pass this contest just because I would like a Willow Spellbook with Alyson's autograph. Hehe, still great contest. Good luck everyone!

Now this is a wicked cool giveaway!
If their oversea shipping prices weren’t so expensive, I would’ve joined in a heartbeat, just to get a chance for this awesome Spellbook.

My company tired something like this once and it wasn't worth the hassle. I'm so tired of these "one-of-a-kind" items that I'm just gonna ignore it. Not worth getting worked up over.

So based on that notice, it is legal, right?
(Not that it matters, I can't believe this is even on the table. i mean, C'mon, Time and Space is offering this great prize for those who are their customers. While it may seem "legally" problematic, I certainly would argue that it is not Morally problematic. Besides, as fans of these shows, we have accepted law-breaking as a small price to pay for doing a good thing or the right thing.)

Yes it should be legal. While what they were doing was not legal, one would hardley think anything would ever come of it unless somebody decided to make an issue of it. But who in business likes to play that game. Therefore it was better for them to comply 100% with the law now, rather then taking the chances of being fined later on.
Now I'm very excited to see who wins this. I've made 7 purchases from the store so far. And trying to guess based on the order numbers I think I might have a 2% chance at winning.
