Nowdays a lot of female figures have their hair sculpted separately from the heads. Toy Biz does this with all their women now. And it does make changes to do with the hair a lot easier.
And I noticed that Willow and Vamp Willow have had changes done to their hair sculpts. Regular Willow is missing some hair around her face (her right eye is no longer obscured).
Also, it makes more sense to sculpt them separately. It makes creating the shadows easier because they appear naturally (MAC always had problems painting the hair right between the head), and it makes less sculpts that need to be produced. Take Anya. One bald Anya head sculpt can be used on every one of the upcoming variants except Anyanka, with new hairsculpts added to each.

theres a gap along the side of the face, thats why you can slip something through hehe. Its a sculpted gap. Im telling you, just take a pin and run it along right where the hair meets the forehead and see if it pushes in
Figures are sculpted bald and with ears so that the hair possibilites can be delt with. But once the hair is chosen, the hair is added to that head. They still have bald willows im sure in case they want more new hair, but once theyre approved the hair isnt removable.

Having just opened my regular Willow, It looks like the hair is a separate piece. The paint would be too perfect if it was a one piece head.

Case solved, I guess. This opens up some less stressful customizing in the future. I'm glad some of the Willows have seperately molded hair... I had hoped for MAC (now, DST) to do this because if the hair is molded seperately in soft PVC (like most modern action figures with long hair), it allows for more head movement. Only problem with this is in manufacturing, as Willfan said about his Willow, sometimes some of the glue can show up, or even worse, the hair can be attached all crooked-like. Though most engineers create the seperate parts to fit together one way, by means of a peg-and-hole. I think I'm answering my own concerns, so I'll stop typing One more thing. Is the hair on Season 5 Willow kind of rubbery, or is it as hard as, say, the plastic that make up her hand or leg?

Mine is just as hard as the rest. So I was right was i? Guess my philosophy of can't you just wait until you actually have them and THEN tell me I'm wrong was the right way to go

The hair comes off. Boil the figure headfirst in a glass of water (1 1/2 minutes in the microwave) and pull on the hair. Pops right off. That's how I made this...

Wow. I didn't know trans willow would also come off. That is so great to actually see that its a fact and not just speculation, altough that one looks kinda weird lol. I can't wait to get my trans willow from cinequest! Should be about a week

Are the ears sculpted on? I doubt they are, but if they are than that is insanely fantastic!

JD, did you put the Transformation hair on the regular Willow face? That would be cool to see.

Guys, they don't. Cutting them apart would be damn near impossible without destroying the head or the hair. Just "popping" the hair off won't work. hee!

hee! Yeah yeah yeah.... No other hair has ever come off like this. I would eat crow, but instead I'll just play around with my Willow figures. So HAH!

I saw a dopple will yesterday that had the hair misglued. Grrrr. I am going to be really miffed if any of mine show up like that! Unless its scheduled for customizing...they will be sent back.
