I said I would do them if Chad will give me the okay.
I'm the one who was supposed to put award badges on the winning photos anyway. I have the badges done already as well.
I didn't enter either.

I've been organising challenges all year and sponsored several contests. I was looking forward to relaxing and just being a contestant for the BCAs. That is why I haven't volunteered.
If Chad isn't able to host them himself, I think Cowboy Guy is the ideal stand in. He understands customs, has done some admin tasks before and isn't actually a contestant himself.

I would also be willing to help (as I don't have any customs entered) and/or donate a prize if needed as well. I agree that it is probably a good idea to not have any of the competitors involved with the vote compilation/ award process. I think that way the process is as squeaky clean as possible. So, if someone needs my help, just let me know. I always enjoy the awards and voting for my faves. I hope it happens.

I honestly don't think it's wise for Jess to host them. Since she's entering, she's more than capable of winning a few categories. And if the host of something ever wins, no matter what it is, there is always whining and accusations of fixing. And given the nature of this board, you know there will be quite a bit of arguing. And secondly - prizes. They don't just appear out of thin air. Chad probably works very hard to get 'sponsors' to donate the prizes, so I'm fairly sure they'd only donate things to members of this forum under his command. And even so, if I recall correctly, (since I remember someone commenting on CMK's handwriting on the packages in 2005) it's Chad who still actually has to distribute the things. You could take over the thing, but you'd probably have to start providing prizes for it yourself... Then defeating one of the main purposes of actually entering and winning... Someone not associated with customs in any way is far more suitable for the role. It's probably why Flobbster or MsBig haven't offered to host, since they may still want to enter. your right rick, it needs to someone subjective i had forgotten that the winners get prizes also - if another mod takes over then perhaps there wont be prizes because its a deal that only chad has secured - just a thought

Maybe people could donate money for the prizes? They don't have to be expensive, just some fun stuff.

I'm sorry to bump this old thread. But I am frustrated. This is a cool forum with a lot of interesting people and a year of WONDERFUL customs. There has been a lot of interest in resurrecting the Custom Awards, and a lot of people offering to help. CowboyGuy has already made the badges, and the customizers have already selected their 'picks' for the contest.
I don't understand why the PTB on this board haven't stopped in to this thread to just let people know what is going on, or come up with an alternate solution since it is obvious that the admins are very busy.
I know that everybody is really really busy and I know that forums like this do tend to ebb and flow. And, I know that I have not been part of this community long enough to really have a say. But I love this board and I want to see it succeed. As a new member, seeing that even really dedicated board members are frustrated, watching this thread be ignored week after week, it is all very disheartening.
I apologize for resurrecting a possibly-dead issue, and I don't mean to step on anybody's toes or hurt anyone's feelings. But I would really like to see these awards happen - or at the very least, get an "official" statement that they have been canceled.
I hope I haven't offended anyone. If I have, my apologies.
Cheers, ladygrey

I agree totally, and kudos for having the balls to say something ladygrey.
This is super frustrating for me as well, since I'm at school and can't customize so this is the only way I can really directly interact with the custom forum.
Sorry for the choice of poor words, but this is becoming absolutely retarded. Part of being a mod is keeping your promises. Everyone has a life and the forum shouldn't be the number one focus, but you should at least stick to what you organize yourself. I'm sure it takes time, but it's been at least three months since the competition was started, and it wouldn't take that much freaking time between now and then to have made at least a little progress, MUCH LESS let the members know the status at least every once in a while. There are a lot of members who I could think of off the top of my head who wouldn't only be capable but also excited to organize everything, so I don't understand that why, if this is becoming such a burden, this responsibility can't be given to someone else.
I'm not usually such a jerk but I'm also usually not this pissed off at particular members of the forum staff. Believe me, I'm thankful for what you all do, but this is getting rediculous.
If anyone is personally offended by this post, please take it up with me by PM.

I will see if there is anyway I can do it myself. I am not familiar with how the process worked though. And were there prizes involved other than the badges and banner promoting the custom, and customizer?

My understanding is that there were other prizes involved in the custom awards other than the badges and banners. Some companies like Power Star, etc. donated prizes to winners. But if it's not possible to get companies to donate I'm sure there are some members on the forum who'd be more than happy to donate something, I know I could donate a few things.

Whoever is in charge, could then divide them up and create prizes that way. We may not be able to do them for every category, but with all the customizers I'm sure we could create a fair number of prizes/parts lots

I can definately donate parts/accessories, and I have some great prizes to contribute, too. i'm sure with all of us thinking about it we could come up with some good loot for the winners.

I think the best prize would be Time and Space Toys Gift Certificates, of different prize amounts for the big awards. And smaller categories might get a figure?

We could all chip in and buy a customizer special. Just $1 from 100 members would get (if done correctly) 24 figures, 1 chase figure, and 2 of either the Summer's Album or Puppet Angel. And what's best is that the winners get to choose what figure they want. Sounds good to me. Assuming people are willing to chip in

how about we just have the awards and not worry about prizes. Hell I haven't even got some of the prizes I was promised from last year's awards...

I'd be fine with not having any prizes either, if I were to win, a banner and a badge would be a nice enough prize for me -Jess

I think the organisation for prizes would take too much time, lets just have the contest and use what cowboyguy has already made. I think the customisers would just be happy to have entered and their work recognised. If we get it sorted now as to who is doing what then the contest can go ahead. Someone needs to be the chief organiser (I believe Cowboyguy has volunteered - if not i apologise - does it have to be a mod?), then the categories organised, perhaps Jess, Msbig, aly could help devise these, then once these are stated, people can submit their entries, and then members will pm the chief organiser their faves. If its not sorted soon then we may as well forget it and start planning this years contest for the end of the year! I will help any way I can. ali x
