OK here's the good stuff, series 6 painted...amazingly I'm the one to break the news with these pics...and some of them are even decent looking (thanks to Flobbo for uploading):

It might be tough to read one of the signs near Adam but it says something along the lines of "All figures are in development and going into production." A great sign indeed!
I attended the Chicago Comic Con this past weekend and I talked to Clayburn Moore himself for a good while on the last day of the con before I had to run out for my flight. So here's what I learned, along with my own needless comments!
Approaching the MAC/MC booth for the umpteenth time that weekend, I asked Clay if I could take pictures of the new figures while a fan was telling him how freaking awesome his new Wolverine statue is (and it truly is...better than the pics out there!). When he was done, I said to Clay, "I have to ask the status of the Buffy and Angel figures, what's the latest word?" I tried to approach it nicely as I'm sure he had to explain all weekend. He hesitated for a second and said he couldn't really say much about them but that MAC and Fox were working on a marketing plan for the figures and there would be some big announcements in the next week or two. I asked if he could say anything off the record and he just said that things were looking good. Yay!
I moved onto the figure bases which weren't on display for any figure asking if any work had been done. He said all the Willow ones were complete (making it odd they weren't there but oh well). As was said before, Vamp Will's base is a pool of blood, very "Carrie" Clay said. Awesome! I don't remember his exact wording but I got the idea it would be blood pouring down into the pool base. Normal Will will have part of a room, a dorm room style thing I believe. Dark Will will have a pentagram, a bit dull but cool that there's a different base for the exclusives, a first for Buffy figures!
I asked about Tara and Anya and he said they were done (wow! I said) then he explained that they were just working on clothing, picking up an Ikon Buffy he said: we just need sculpt the clothing you know, not doing this sort of thing. I laughed and said "great!" it was cool to see he had a distaste for the leather jackets and cloth stuff like I do. He said it was up to Fox what got released for Buffy, but that he was hopeful and they ARE working together on a plan to be announced soon.
That's great I said, now what about the Angel figures? He said that they were ready to go and the renewal was a GREAT thing for them. He and Fox have discussed doing a new Spike figure in a totally new sculpt and outfit to be dropped into the Angel line...I should have asked if he meant for wave 2 or later. Basically with the new season, the Angel figures are looking better and they're just going to hold off a little while. Good call I said, wait for the demand to return with the new season which will be huge (after Smallville! Buffy fans heading over!)!
What about bases for the monster wave? They have completed sketches and they're just working on making them now. I was really blown away by the fact that they had most of series VI complete and painted, and that they are committed to finishing everything even though there's no guarantee it'll be released. I told Clay how much I was looking forward to this line and asked if it would be released at all...he said it was all up to Fox about what got released (he kept talking about their involvement like this so maybe they have a partnership or work for hire agreement more than a license...which would really explain a lot). Had I not been so excited and a little starstruck I would have thought to ask further about their companies' relationship. Finally he said that the two we'll most likely see out is Fyarl Demon Giles and D'Hoffryn. Both looked so much cooler than I expected so that was good to hear, although I REALLY wanted all the others even more! Luckily it sounds like it's very possible we'll get them all.
I was so pumped about the new figures that I bought the Ikon Buffy and Spike which I was on the fence about. As an assistant was filling out the charge card info, I asked if I could get a membership right then and there at the con (I always thought it was a bit of a waste but now really think MAC deserves my support) Clay interrupted and said that they weren't taking new memberships now. He told me to wait a little while, they didn't want to take on any new ones right now. I assume he wants to wait till they have new product and a new exclusive to put out there for membership so it's worthwhile again. Very nice I thought when he could have just taken my money and stuck me with a Slave Cordy and a worthless membership (for a few months anyway) at that point and I would've been happy. it sounds like there's possibly some changes regarding memberships that'll be part of these forthcoming announcements.
He told me to keep checking the website (mooreaction.com plug plug!) and I told him I do all the time (didn't mention how pathetically often I check for new stuff though) and shook his hand. Very nice guy, softspoken and personable. The MAC booth was busy at some times when I stopped by (this year they were way at the back, not near the front like last year) but there was never a line really that I saw. The saddest thing at a con is the people at an empty booth (like poor Lou Ferrigno), but MAC and MC seemed to do ok, although I was a little worried and wondered if Clay was at all concerned about interest with only a little new product. The whole time he seemed...not apologetic exactly, but like he really wanted to make things right with the fans. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but it seemed like he was working hard to do good work and maybe turn around the perception of some fans. I didn't think to ask if he knew about this forum, but he seemed like he would definitely have taken it hard if he saw what everyone was saying about him since the Buffy/Angel cancellations. My final thoughts were that he was a great guy, very nice to a geeky fan like me, and I really wish him success and to see those figures that he and all the others have worked so hard to make great. Luckily, it sounds more hopeful than ever!
Apologies to Flobbo for making him wait hours for this hopefully enthralling piece...
