Has anyone seen or have gotten any of the figures from the film ''300'' ?
I got the hard cover book today and i am going back to get the figures in a few days, they have sold out of King Leonidas but they have the other 3 still there, so i am only going to get Queen Gorgo for now .....

Though I'm yet to see the movie (will be doing so on Thursday when it is finally released down under), I picked up a King Leonidas a couple of weeks ago.
A great figure, though the appeal of action figures is wearing off significantly for me. The only negative points are the terrible sculpting/painting on the back of the sandals (which isn't a major issue since you generally cannot see them) and the rather lacklustre base (which is understandable to some degree as you do get an alternative head, though I'll only ever display the helmeted head).
Passed on the rest of the figures due to lack of interest and price. Would probably be interested in grabbing a Xerxes and another Spartan soldier if they release a second series with "300" on DVD.
Cheers, Haeph.

Big, hunky buff men in funky underwear....you can bet I'll be picking up a couple! ;D Queen Gorgo also looks pretty sweet. Statues are not really my thing though. A review from Michael: www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_030507a.htmPic - Michaels Review

Unfortunately there's only one big, hunky, buff man in funky underwear available at the moment. Unless one is into deformed hunchbacks?
Hoping for a David Wenham (Delios?) figure if there is a second series.
Word on the streets (or more accurately the web) appears to be that if you see a Leonidas grab it because they're selling fast (I know they're all sold out at my local toy store). Alternatively wait for the 12" version to be released if you want a really BIG, big, hunky, buff man in funky underwear.
Cheers, Haeph.

Yeah, I don't think I'd bother with the larger figures.
Just don't have the space for them anymore.
Can't wait to see where they go with the smaller line though. They need to make the evil guy with the deep voice (who's name escapes me).

I got King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo from 300 last week. I haven't seen the movie yet, I'll probably wait for the DVD, but I thought these two figures were so sexy I had to have them. I was going to get the Immortal figure, but I'm the type that if I buy 3, I might as well buy all 4, and I just did not want that other figure. He looks like Jason from Friday the 13th in a thong.

Latest rumours from NECA are of a Xerxes "boxed set". No word on what would be included other than Xerxes (I'm not sure they could realise something as big as his staircase, but perhaps just his throne).
Also, no news of a second series of 300 (or Grindhouse) as NECA are busy with other properies, but slim chance of some two-packs (again, no real indication of what might be included, especially for the "300" figures).
I was hoping for a second series to coincide with the release on DVD including: Dilios, Captain Artemis, Stelios and Xerxes.
Cheers, Haeph.

Neca just announced their 2007 SDCC summer exclusives and among them is a redecorated version of King Leonidas with helmut that is battle damaged. He comes with an all new base and enemy arrows that fit into his stand and his shield. He has a new paintjob that will give the appearance of blood, sweat, dirt, and grime. Pics not yet available.

Apparently Neca have cancelled the Xerxes figure due to it being too difficult & expensive.
I will never forgive them for doing so.

cancelled!!! wow guess it was too big. Neca commented Xerxes was simply too detailed, big & expensive. Terrible, terrible thing for them to do to use!! ;D Anyway, new from TNI....Sideshow Collectables are making a Premium Format Leonidas. I got all excited because I thought they were doing a 12" articulated line...but, no. Plus it would be very hard for them to articulate them & still have them look good. I wouldn't buy it. Still...thats a whole lotta man! ;D

Not sure the statue does Gerard Butler justice.
The sculpting around the thighs and stomach looks more like saggly/loose/extra skin as opposed to the muscles he was sporting in the movie (thanks to the wonders of CGI, at least that is what I like to tell myself).
Not surprised about the final confirmation of Xerxes' cancellation. It's a shame NECA didn't do more with the licence. If the original Leonidas had a more "generic" or poseable body, I would have been happy to buy figures of other Spartans with just new heads and possibly new arms (if required to create unique "poses" depending on articulation).
Cheers.
