and the verdict is .....disappointing No kidding... she looks as though she got double black eyes and was then slapped in the face ;D Look real closely and you'll see a pinkness across her brow and down to her upper lip. It's the domestic-violence abuse Phoenix figure

It has to be the laziest variant I have ever seen.
They probably should have taken the time to watch the movie & see what Dark Phoenix looked like!

And then painted the eyebrows properly on both versions! I still think mine looks like Marilyn Manson.

Eyebrows are often the first thing to go generic after a prototype is shown. You can see from the proto pics to final product of Jean just how big an impact the eyebrows make, which you can also see on Emma Frost who has a horrid set: They did re-release Jean with slightly less crazy eyebrows (3rd image), but they were still generic when you look at Famkes face. I am very hard on the X3 Jean, I'm sorry! but after the proto was shown, she was my most anticipated figure...& took a turn for the worst. In the X3 display, she still looks awesome.

hey, if anyone finds $10 Cannonball and Marvel Girl sets, I would love both sets. NYC is the only place in the country I think that doesnt have Wal-Marts.

thanks!
Does anyone buy the super hero squad figures? they are the cutest things ever. I have all the X-men ones except the impossible to find Beast/Iceman pack. But I've got a different Beast and Iceman so its no big deal.

FYI, I went to Five Below today and they had Hasbro ML Series 1 (Banshee, Emma, Beast, etc) available at $5 each. Not bad when my Suncoast is asking $16.99

I finally found Astonishing Cyclops. I was... astonished ;D Now I need to find Rachel Summers.
I wish we had a Five Below in this area. I like those kinds of stores (like Big Lots) that get closeout merchandise. I remember this one called Toy Liquidators (A KB Toys branch maybe?) that would have some of the late 80s toys still available in the early 90s. I remember getting some of the later MASK toys at some of those places.

Wen't by WalMart and found some great clearance items. Its strange, since this walmart is the only one in my town that carries ML...there were no HMLS3 figs but tons of the 5" movie ones. I still need to find a way to get ahold of Doctor Doom, Thing, and Silver Surfer since they didn't have any. I'm so glad I finally found Namor, hes one of my all time favorite ML. I just wish his articulation was a little better. I don't see why people are hating Sue so much, shes a really good figure actually. Torch is cool but they could have cut down on the hair. They should have designed the hair like the picture on the top left of the package. I also just bought the Young Avengers Boxset on ebay today(and for only $14.99!!!) I must admit I really thought that the concept was kind of goofy at first, but looked into the characters and read the comics and I absolutely love them. I just hope Hasbro remakes them in their new costumes and finishes off the Team(with the two Gals-Stature/Hawkeye, Speed and new Vision.) Anyway, I CAN'T WAIT TILL THEY GET HERE ;D

Wow, someone is clearance-crazy at your Walmart too, eh? Fun isn't it The thing about Hasbro that pisses me off is that they've cut back (waaay back) on articulation, took out the comic book, and raised the price! Don't get me wrong, I love my Astonishing Cyclops and miniskirt Jean Grey. But Hasbro should be cutting the price down instead if inflating it. They're a bigger company than Toy Biz, it seems, so what's their excuse? Well, on a more amusing note. A web comic I read has a sort of hiatus for a few weeks around Christmas, so the cartoonist puts up strips other than his main storyline during the downtime. He came up with a "new" strip for a few days, called Super Stupor. Check them out ;D Guess I should preface this with a mild warning: the content is PG-13, maybe even a little more than that • Never seek out your arch enemy's loved ones...• New Year's Eve woes• Happy New Ye....ughh!

Yup, I basically bought all they had. $55 bucks later and I still didn't get everything I wanted, pretty greedy bastard aren't I? No Kidding. Hasbro is doing a pretty good job with character selection, but Hasbro just seems to be doing a Hit and Miss with great figs(articulation, paint apps, etc.) It really pisses me off that I can't pose figs the way I want. I don't get me started on those so called elbow/knee joints(the ones that are covered)... I like the Build-a-Figures, but some of those should be regular wave figs. I really miss the really large ones I think its kind of funny that Hasbro has said part of the reason the prices were raised is because of all of the money spent on build-a-figures

Yup, I basically bought all they had. $55 bucks later and I still didn't get everything I wanted, pretty greedy bastard aren't I? Hehe... but who can blame you? I used to go crazy digging through the post-Christmas clearance stuff at the Walmart I worked at. I still do, but there haven't been very good finds the past year or so. Whaa? Hasbro really said that? Wow... they need to take a second look at the Sentinel and Apocalypse BAFs from Toy Biz's ML run. Good grief! The hidden knees & elbows... do you mean like the miniskirt Jean Grey figure? Or the SM3 (5") type knee joints, with that goofy ball & socket combined with a regular knee joint? I wouldn't mind the Jean Grey type of joint if the parting (where it opens up) did not leave an android-esque ridge on her legs. Looks alright when closed, kinda goofy when the knee is bent. I don't think there would be any easy way to conceal knee joints (or any other such joint) on figures with bare flesh, outside of the Barbie doll method. Which is a plastic clicky skeleton inside of a rubbery skin. Someday we'll have action figures that look like miniature, living mini people.

I didn't pick up any of the 5" SM3 figs, its like a pet peeve of mine: I like my movie figs in the same scale-6"(which Is why i so psyched about the new DC Movie line.) But I think your saying they are the same ones as X3 Jean Fig, which are the ones I mean. Well, I guess there okay, but they look pretty funny when they're not close and prohibit movement with some(Ronan for example). I don't know, I guess I just miss the double jointed knees.....and elbows and the bicep swivel, and the shoulder ball joints. Its just sucks they they don't have as much pose-ability. What ticks me off even more is how the switch around the articulation with every fig, it would be nice if they were just constant. But I am Glad were getting any figures at all. Since Hasbro is just starting out I'll give 'em a break, look at Toybiz, the first couple of waves weren't exactly perfect I still haven't found any of series 3 in my town

Aly, the miniskirt Jean Grey figure from that Walmart two-pack was based on the Marvel Girl sculpt. Besides paint apps, the only thing different is the head. I think... I don't have the Rachel Summers figure yet, but I'm basing this on pics of her. Anyways the Jean figure is pretty good, though she lacks in articulation and the skirt limits hip movement.

i got the marvel girl/cable and domino/cannonball packs today thanks to Rogue. I love all the figures. I know they are just repaints, but all the outfits look so well its hard to tell. It just makes me sad that we'll probably never finish the X-force team considering the current status of most of them. I'm sure we'll get Warpath since he's on the X-men. Siryn and Rictor are both on X-factor now so who knows, if the line lasts long enough, I guess anything is possible. Feral is my favorite and we'll probably never see her (although the new Tigra is a good base body for her if they continue with these exclusives).

I finally got my Young Avengers Boxset today, and I'm so psyched about it. Has anyone here read the comics? They're actually really good and even though they look like mini avengers in their first appearance gear, they really do have there own abilities and a great story. Having this set makes me want the girls even more. Anyway, I also grabbed Scarlet Witch and X-23 from my LCS, I don't see whats so bad about Wanda, shes pretty cool. I think my current top 5 Marvel Legends have to be Wiccan(aka Asguardian), X-23, Spider-Woman, Namor, and Ms. Marvel. I'm running out of room for my ML figs, but I refuse to not display them! lol they are currently occupying my TV stand Young Avengers(just ignore the Batman/Superman piggy banks ) Avengers, New Avengers and Fantastic Four Figs. Once I get Silver Sufer, Doom and Thing from the F4 wave they're are going to take Ruby Armor Cyclops and Diamond Emmas place. X-men related. *Notice Sinister Lurking behind Jean and Cyke, next to Nate Grey ) Phoenix is actually about even with Marvel Girl/Cyclops but from the pics she doesn't look like shes flying in the space X-23 vs. Sentinel I wanted her to be dynamic but couldn't get her in a good pose, so she ended up being in a fight with the sentinel

Alright, I tried to post this yesterday, but Proboards crapped out on me Cool displays, Insanity! Does the Black Panther figure come with that base he's on? I have him, but I forget because he's kind of buried in a box right now The thing about the Scarlet Witch figure that people hate is the five o'clock shadow on her face. At least I think that's what it was. I never got her myself, though I wish I had. I found the Super Hero Squad set of Gambit & Rogue at a Target yesterday. I haven't opened them yet, because... well, Gambit's skin tone looks "off" to me. He's really tan looking. I'm wondering if there's a running change on this set. I open up pretty much everything I buy, but sometimes I get something like this and I keep it carded for a while. Speaking of... I found the "silver" skinned X3 Colossus today! I'm happy to have found him, but no Rachel Summers yet. Is anyone interested in my MOC greyish, dull-silver X3 Colossus? If not, he's going back to the store. Not that the dull grey Colossus is that hard to find, but I just wanted to ask before sending him on his merry way.
